When EV cars takes off you will have more people mining so you can get alternative and cheaper but low quality batteries. Just like parts for you car. You have oem parts and 3rd party parts.

Nothing wrong with 3rd party parts. Some work much better than OEM.

The mining would reduce as recycling efforts kick off and approach 100%. Still, it's a lot better than the recent aggressive crude oil extraction methods.
