Which position is that?

I think Defensive Midfield

Mikel was of the pace at last year's AFCON. you think rohr would deliberately bench the captain and most creative midfielder for no justifiable reason.

Mikel was out of pace against Burundi and Guinea but he has been a sure starter for high flying Stoke in the Championship

Make it make sense

Is that not the role Mikel played for most of his career?

Can you name them? And it's clear Rohr doesn't trust these young ones
olise, Ejaria, Azeez, frank onyeka and those I the ones I know off the top of my head. if we keep looking back we will never make progress. That is how we were begging Vincent to come back for the 2018 World Cup when we had a goalkeeping crisis but did we not cope?

Mikel is a deep lying midfielder

So it is only the AFCON u remember that he should have been used as a deep lying midfielder? undecided

I don't think you complained when he performed well in that AMF role before the AFCON...

same Mikel that was wonderful against Cameroon Algeria and Zambia in the World Cup qualifiers struggled against Croatia Iceland and Argentina it's called loss of form

You call it loss of form, I call it playing out of position but the most important thing is that Mikel is in form and strolling the Championship at the moment when we have a midfielder crisis

Rooney is playing CM/DM at the moment

There is a age you reach you appreciate usage of time and space than athleticism

Olise, Ejaria are not even Nigerian players atm, Azeez is injured and Rohr does not trust Onyeka

There is a reason it is called midfielder crisis and Mikel would only be a stop gap

same Mikel that played as a deep lying midfielder and was great in AFCON 2013 and the confederate cup in Brazil was poor at the 2014 world cup. it all boiled down to his form and not necessarily position.

He has played all minutes and has a goal to his name

You might not call it strolling but he's definitely comfortable

Not taking this serious

Mikel should be doing this in the epl and not championship

Nothing special about playing all minutes for a championship team

Even Ivanovic at 36 is at west brom

I have been thinking. Can we recall Siasia,Olise,Aiyegbeni and Amunike pls. Our MF is currently thin. We can recall Enyeama to replace Osigwe too. We need experience in that team.

I dont support recalling Mikel but at least he called someone who is still playing football and you are joking with players who are no more footballers grin

Mikel terminated his contract due to that issue with his club during Covid, don’t make it look like he has been clubless ,Mikel joined stoke as a free agent and so do Ivanović

Many 35/36 year old have played in the epl,Mikel is even 33 but you said something that he doesn’t have the pace for the epl

I can give you list of 33 year old upwards who have played in the epl that have no pace if you want me to give you

How can Rohr hasten a switch? Talking about Nwakali don't we have enough greenhorns in Onyeka, Tijani

Mikel's coming back is not permanent it is just to stable a ship, Alex Ferguson did it with Scholes

In the press conference before the Algeria match, Colin Udoh interviewed Tunde Adelakun (who's SE chief Scout) and he said he pressed Pinnick to get the Akpoguma's switch done fast. If Rohr needed him urgently he'll do same for him
