This was pre covid..... in covid times this is now allowed. if your school tells you to print it this way then go ahead

Cc Abiodun95

This is very confusing. A couple of students have gotten their I-20 shipped, while some schools still insist they can’t issue hard copy I-20 this period.
We need evidence that printed I-20 would be accepted at POE. Although, the VO mentioned after interview to keep the i-20 (same printed copy used for interview) as it would be required at POE. Do we have any one who has used the printed I-20 for those who travelled in August (fall 2020 resumption) from Europe?

Nothing is confusing here, a printed copy is now allowed because of the covid, It’s in the site of the Nigeria university that printed i20 is allowed as well, US us still battling covid. No one has travelled this year August because they just started granting interviews late September.

Hello everyone, Good morning.

I have a funding of about $11500 and my brothers have decided to give me their SOP as POF but we do not bear the same surname. They are actually my half brothers. Will this work against me?
Hi.
IMO, best you just refer to them as "Uncle" sponsoring.

GRE Acers, thank you so much for your prayers. We made it.

Now to Biometric:

A young lady saw that I came all the way from Jalingo to have my interview. She asked why I chose Lagos instead of Abuja, I told her that dates were unavailable in Abuja when Lagos consulate opened. She also asked if I have visited Mambilla Plateau in Taraba State before, which I answered NO but I'll be visiting soon. She said she's been there and she's wishing me good luck with my interview. This conversation helped me relax so much.

My conversation with VO.

The VO has just opened (two other guys have started interviewing others, one was asking so many questions in which I was supposed to meet with him but within me, in my spirit, I was rejecting him.) God answered my prayers, bringing another VO for me.

VO: Next applicant please
Me: Good morning sir
VO: Good morning

VO: Pass me your passport as it is packed for you.
Me: Ok sir

(VO just checked the financial part in femtosecond)

VO: So, where are you going in the US?
Me: I'm going to Texas Tech University to pursue PhD degree in Chemistry with concentration in Organometallic Chemistry.

VO: Where do you work?
Me: I'm an academic staff at Taraba State University

VO: Are you married?
Me: No

VO: I intend approving your visa.... Go to counter 22 to pay your reciprocity fee.
Me: Thank you.

Everything, not sure it's up to 1 min (30 secs thereabout). Meanwhile, the other two VOs were still questioning their own applicants .

Alhamdulillah .

Thank you Pepe and Bayonle for everything you do for me.

To clear the confusion check Gov website
....... both are now accepted so each school can choose which option they want to use as a school policy. It then left to the student to follow the guidance set by the school. If your school is still shipping only, then you cant force then to do the other method and vice versa

What still remains is you must have your i20 at POE regardless of which method your school uses

Homeland announcement or update can be found : https://www.ice.gov/covid19

Good afternoon fellow Nairalanders,

Been following this thread for sometime and I can say you guys are really doing a wonderful job. I have really learnt a lot on this thread. I have a question that needs an urgent answer please.

I hope to attend my interview soon but my main problem is that i am a security personnel and will be attending the interview from work and in my uniform since its around 12pm. My question is don't you think the uniform may work against me during the interview? I would have gone to change to mufti but that may not be possible since am at work.

Awaiting your reply and thanks.

You have to dress for the occasion. Kindly look for alternatives. You can change to mufti somewhere close to the embassy. Go along with a bag where you can keep your clothes. Just have 1k or so to give those people outside the embassy to help you keep your bag

Morning my people,

I sincerely appreciate supports provided in this group. Well done.

I have read some pages but still have some areas not clear to me and seek for your clarifications about a student am sponsoring to study in US

1. The student is going for a master program of about 2 yrs but I-20 indicated study end date to be December, 2021. Is it an error that we need to engage the school to change? Got an answer for this

2. The student was sent only electronic I-20. Hope the visa officer will not ask of original copy from the school. Got an answer for this too

3. Is SEVIS payment required for student dependents to book visa? Will student and dependents pay for SEVIS before booking for visa? We observe student SEVIS number is different from her dependents

4. The student and her dependents have previously apply for US Visa (B1/B2) using separate (two) profiles. Is it possible to use one of this profile for F1/F2 application or new application profile has to be created for student and dependent together?

5. Is it possible to pay for student and all dependents visa fee through GTB online?

Thanks in advance as u take time out to respond to my questions.

Good afternoon house,
I will appreciate your responses to above questions.
Thanks

What is the name of the school? I have friends applying and I might recommend your school...

Lildairo:
Well, it depends on the school. My admission came with huge funding and everything was within two weeks.

I don't think there is a need to lie. Honesty matters a lot. There's no crime in applying to one University and applying to one University does not reduce your chances of getting your VISA approved.

I think the bolded shouldn't be a problem as even American students couldn't take the test as a result of its cancellation.

My friends took the SAT last month, with very high scores (1540, 1480, 1450s). You are applying from Nigeria, not America. Your applicant pool is not the same.

If you are applying test optional to the same school someone in your applicant pool with 1540 is applying to, you'd likely not be considered first.

US F1 Visa approved
Date: 30 Oct 2020
Interview time: 11am
I got there 7am and was allowed in by 9:30am

Me: Good morning Sir
Vo: Good morning

Vo: Pass me your passport, I-20, Ds160 and Sevis fee receipt

Me: While passing it, I need to say that my program is stated differently on my I-20. My program is MA International Development Studies. My school says the SEVIS system uses some set of codes for variety of programs and that is why it is stated differently on my I-20

Vo: oh okay. We will get to that

Me: Alright

Vo: So where is Ohio

Me: Sorry, you mean the school

Vo: Yes

Me: Athens

Vo: Why did you choose Ohio

Me: I chose Ohio for 3 reasons
1. Ohio gave me a tuition scholarship
2. As part of my program I will be learning a second language. No other school offers this

Vo: cuts in. What language will you be learning.

Me: French, because in the field of development English and French are the two official languages

Vo: Yes that's true. So which other Universities did you apply to

Me: University of Pittsburgh, Western Michigan University and American University

Vo: so why did you choose ohio

Me: Like I said earlier. Ohio gave me a scholarship and I would learn a second language.

Vo: Oh true you said that. Have you travelled outside Nigeria before

Me: No

Vo: Where have you travelled to in Nigeria

Me: Edo, Kano, Kaduna, Zaria, Minna, Abuja, Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Ekiti, Ondo

Vo: Who is paying the rest of your fees

Me: My aunt

Vo: How is she related to you.

Me: She's my mum's sister

Vo: Where is she

Me: Here in Lagos..She works for so so so

Vo: I will be approving your Visa. Gives me a white paper. Go and pay your reciprocity fee. You will be told when you can pick up your passport.

No questions on Gre or Toefl. He didn't check my bank statements also. All the best to does preparing for interview.

Congratulations, please can you share your profile I want to apply to the same university and course also for fall 2021. Thank you

And they could also read from previous posts that people are going for interview in the same lagos. Dates were available earlier last months and you still have option of sending a mail across to the embassy for expedited interview date (if I am right)
