Abubakar Malami: This Government Is Determined To End Impunity by Racoon(m): 10:18pm On Nov 01, 2020
Abubakar Malami, attorney-general of the federation and minister of justice, says the federal government is determined to end impunity. The minister said this in a statement Umar Gwandu, his special assistant on media and public relations, issued on his behalf.

The statement is in commemoration of the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes Against Journalists, which is celebrated on November 2 every year.

He said it is gratifying to note that “Nigeria is no longer among the countries with impunity for crimes against journalists”, referring to the 2020 Global Index for Impunity for Crimes Against Journalists released on Wednesday by the Committee to Protect Journalists. The report indicated that Nigeria is the only country that came off the index from 2019.

Malami said before the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, Nigeria had ranked 13th across the globe and used to be among top three African countries with impunity for crimes against journalists only after Somalia and South Sudan.

Malami attributed the feat achieved by Nigeria in the new index to the “deliberate and committed efforts of the President Muhammadu Buhari led Federal Government through the implementation of many reforms in the Nigerian justice sector to include increased access to justice, speedy justice dispensation, decongestion of Nigeria’s correctional centers and judicious implementation of the Criminal Justice Act and Justice Sector reforms.

“With the solid foundation of reformed justice sector to be bequeathed by Buhari Administration, never again will Nigeria feature among nations where journalists, citizens and inhabitants of the country will suffer from any form of impunity in the future.”

The minister said the recent developments in Nigeria’s international arbitration against P&ID and some international oil companies are indicators of resolute determination of the federal government to bring to an end the era of impunity and lack of adherence to due diligence and rule of law in governmental operations.

Malami said government is working to ensure safety of journalists against rhetorical aggression, trolling, incursion of privacy, phissing and cyber attcks. He added that that with the implementation of cybercrime Act 2015, the incidents of cyber-related crimes would be minimised.

Which impunity? Same one you all eat, drink & sleep on? Same AGF that is full of impunity & involved in corrupt dealings? Hope the government you're serving with impunity is really listening with it notorious flare for disobedience to the rule of law, selective justice, media propaganda trials & lopsided anti-corruption fight?

We all know who is the father of impunity.

His name is Gen Buhari.

The unapologetic Coupist.

A dictator packaged to decieve some gullible people that he is a democrat.

Now to obey Court Orders is a herculean task to him.

By the time 2020 result with come out.

Nigeria won't only top the list.

It will also top the list of countries that use their national Army to kill off it's citizens and steal the body.

No 1 impunity in Nigeria is the failure of the government to manage the population of the country despite having National population commission , you can not keep your border porous for illegal immigrants to come in when your youth are unemployed, certainly we can not do one family one child like China but we need to do something.

the number 1 evidence that these old leaders don't understand governance is the fact that you can not make provision for your citizens without knowing how many we are.

confused lots

"....When it comes to rule of law, sensitive Nigerians will agree that the Buhari's government has no iota of respect for the law.No respect for court injunctions.

There is brazen disobedience for due process, stifling of press freedom, arrest of oppositions on trump up charges and abuse of human rights through the use of coercive apparatus of the state.
Millions of Nigerians are living in fear because of state intimidation. We have return to the days of military junta....."

I'm still saying it that Nigeria youths are not yet ready

They will still come out again and be shouting end SARS.

These are the once the youths are supposed to channel thier grievances to.

So much impunity in the top hierarchy.

Sowore still went and inscribed end SARS on the he high way in Abuja after the security outfit had been scrapped alongside anticultism and even antikidnappin that were doing a good job.

It's high time to face the senate, the governors and even that judiciary where the throne of judgement have been compromised.

But they won't
They will still keep screaming end SARS till thy kingdom come.

By now, you lots ought to know that crying over politicans on social media cannot change anything, especially those who have strong grassroots support.

Sensible people use strategies and actions to kick out politicans they don't want, not social media rants.
