That's not possible now. He can say who and who doesn't become the next governor of Lagos.

Stop wasting your time on that guy, someone that is from Abia state where they can't even tar a 1km road complaining about Tinubu and Lagos while his own states rots away under poor leadership.

Bariba as a name is even Hausa. Baribawa is the full meaning, just like Nupeci and Yaribawa. Bariba is the name of the people, Borgu is their emirate, while Borgu LGA is the headquaters of Borgu emirate. Borgu emirates consist of several tribes, which includes the Bariba, Nupe, Fulani and many others. In Kwara state for instance, Baruten is seen as the remnant of Borgu emirate. Borgu emirate stretches from Benin republic, to Kwara north and up to parts of Niger state.

In the old Oyo empire, Borgu was an independent kingdom that had the same status as Nupe. Both were allies to Oyo. In fact, when Nupe under Tsoede invaded Oyo, it was in Borgu Kingdom Oyo people fled to. When Oyo finally got themselves after year's of rebuilding, that a new Alafin rose and took the battle to Nupe. Oyo never conquered Borgu. Rather both were allies who helped advanced the Oyo empire. However, when the Fulani began their Jihad, the trio of Nupe, Borgu and Oyo fell to the jihadist.

It was even said that Nupe and Borgu never really fell to Dan Fodio, but rather a few Nupe and Borgu sons solicited the flag from Sokoto to which they used in claiming their kingdoms to the Islamic fold. But when the deed was achieved, the Fulani sons within plotted their removal and installed Fulani Emirs in both Kingdoms, similar to what happened in Ilorin.

After cementing their claim to the throne, each Emir rallied the indigenes of both Borgu and Nupe to match towards Oyo. In fact, the army Alimi/Afonja used in fighting Oyo was gotten from the bulk of Nupe and Borgu kingdoms. Even when Oyo fell, it was these two kingdoms that continued the match down south, terrorizing Yorubaland until they were defeated in the hands of Ibadan warriors at Oshogbo.

Jagaba means the one in front. Like the one who leads. It's actually a hausa word, but the n at the end of it means he is that of Borgu that is the jagaban Borgu the one in front who leads the Borgu.

The history of that area is muddled if we even go deep. Let me break it down. The Fulani did not really come down to conquer those areas as people may think. Only a few Fulani fighters joined the push. But majority of the Jihadist were indigenes. In Bida for instance, the leader of the Jihad was a Nupe. He was even the first Emir of Bida Emirate until a Fulani leader spring up to take power.

Consequently, in Ilorin Afonja lead the Jihad there. Rebelling against Oyo was to make Ilorin an Islamic town. A lot of people don't know that Afonja was a Muslim. He joined forces with Alimi to achieve this task. However, the palace coup that happened in Bida, was what happened in Ilorin. Alimi plotted against Afonja and had him assassinated. It was in the demise of Afonja that Alimi made his son Abubakar the first Emir of Ilorin. It was he Abubakar that structured Ilorin into the Balogun houses. But inspite of Ilorin being ruled by Alimi it wasn’t recognized by Dan Fodio until the coming of Sultan Bello when Abubakr went to collect the Jihad flag. And it was this period that Islamic scholars added Ilorin to the Banza Bakwai Hausa history.

For the other Emirate such as Borgu, it was the British who joined the Bassa emirate in present Niger with that of Kiama emirate in present Kwara into what we know as Borgu emirate in 1954. However, it was the Bassa emirate that fought Lugard tooth and nail before they were defeated. That was why Lugard made Bassa the head of Borgu Emirate. For the Baruba people, there are scattered in Kaima and Bassa. But they dominate Baruten LGA in Kwara north.
I am tired of responding to you bruv

Raiding of Old Oyo by Fulani is quite different from conquest of Ilorin which they achieved with the help of Yorubas.

Emir Shitta who happens to be the third Emir in Ilorin raided old Oyo.

Borgu used to. In fact, the Soun Ogbomoso came from Bariba, he was given land when he overcame a dissident that was disturbing Oyo mesi in those days.
Borgu was never a vassal to Oyo. The Bariba people who dominate Baruten LGA were under the Kiama emirate before it was joined with Bassa emirate to form the larger Borgu emirate by the British. If you say Kaiama was a vassal under Oyo, we never know because history didn't record so. History only recorded that Borgu kingdom hosted Oyo when Tsoedo from Nupe invaded it.

But one thing we know was that the Bariba, Nupe and Oyo live side by side. Even till now if you visit towns like Share, you would not know the difference between Tsaragi and Share. Tsaragi is the Nupe derivative, while Share is what the Yoruba call it. Share falls under Ifelodun LGA, and Tsaragi is under Edu. There is no common boundary between both. The same is applicable to Jebba a Yoruba town, close by to Moro in Niger state, separated by the River Quorra (Niger). Even Lafiaji and Shonga towns, host both Yoruba and Nupe who live together. The Yoruba call the Nupe Tapa while the Nupe call the Yoruba Oyo.

JA GABA means 'Carry along'

It was a title proffered to him by the late Emir of Borgu( Dantoro)

So when you want to say 'someone who carries the people of Borgu along', you say JAGABAn Borgu

It’s not about how close Oshogbo is to Ibadan. The main thing that bonded both was the former Oyo empire. After the fall of Oyo, Ibadan became the heir to the former empire. Ibadan was the city where the refugees of old Oyo converged. Therefore, Oshogbo had no choice than bow to Ibadan. In that sense, fighting a battle in Osogbo was similar to fighting in Ibadan soil.

He's right.

Meanwhile the place of the defeat was Inisa, 2 town down Oshogbo. The war was called "Ogun Jalumi" jalumi war.

Fulani armies were defeated when they got to Odo-otin (otin River) and couldn't cross.

The area of the defeat is now a tourist center at Inisa town AS I HEARD

This is what I’m correcting. The Fulani did not conquer Ilorin, they only installed an Emir after the death of Afonja. The Fulani did not even raid old Oyo. Those who raided old Oyo we're the Nupe and Bariba. Jihadist can be any tribe who fight for an Islamic cause.

It's a chieftaincy title.

Jagaban of Borgu land

it's actually a Hausa word and it simply means Asiwaju in Yoruba.

Means a LEADER, one who's always at the FRONT.

You are high on some thing cheap sir

Even Ajayi crowther was captured and and sold in one of such Fulani raid of Oyo.

Emir shitta raided Oyo and it's well documented fact.

Fulani after raiding Oyo pushed down South and were only defeated in Osogbo by Ibadan warriors.

In fact, Jeba a town shared by Nupes and Yoruba in Kwara still stands till today

Nupes are still in Oyo state in the Ibarapa section

Yorubas still live amongst Bariba in Benin republic and Nigeria.
