Not sure you need one. If you had submitted one when applying for PR, which I am sure you did, you won't need to submit another. There maybe some "ifs" though; if you had lived in some other country (ies) before becoming a Canada PR then you would need police report from all those countries.

Things might have changed though, but as at March 2020, I believe I read it in one of their citizenship documents. I might be wrong too, I am open to correction

Does it make any tangible sense to apply for a Master's again in Canada with my Master's degree transcript(2.1) since most Canadian universities don't accept 2.2 undergraduate degree.

It’s almost impossible(You need a job offer and your potential employer must prove that no Canadian is qualified for that job). However, if it’s a low skilled job(Chinese folks do this a lot especially those that own grocery stores but they only do it for their people), you may be lucky. Check IRCC website for programs that provide this. On this journey , you must be willing to really research or spend the money to employ a RCIC(you can start with a consultation- this can give you a head start). Unfortunately, I’m almost certain this “agent” is a scam, but I hope you make the best decision.

Before you pick up the item, ask the person directly if there were bedbugs in their house previously, then check it very well to ensure no bedbug eggs or roach eggs. The last thing you want is to bring bedbugs into your apartment.

It's not very common but a friend mentioned that it good to check as some people would rather sell the furniture rather than fling it.

As the Naira loses value before our eyes, just thought to share ways in which new migrants can salvage as much as is possible. I believe you know this already, but my advise is to keep it simple - stick to USD because it's easily sourced/universal and you can carry more of your exchanged Naira.

So here are some go-to sources for USD/NGN or CAD/NGN conversion;

a) PTA from Banks - the limit on this is 4,000USD per person and per trip. One cavaet though; if you buy a one-way ticket to Canada like most of us do, most banks will not sell PTA to you because that can no longer be termed as traveling, but emigration. To be honest, sometimes, the difference between a one-way and return ticket may not be significant enough to forego that easily accessible USD.

b) MMIA - this is about the only place I know you can easily find CAD to buy and at surprisingly reasonable rates too. The only risk with last minute purchases, such as this, is that you have to be pretty organized and arrive the airport super early, else you'd most likely miss your flight.

c) Western Union/Money Gram - sweetest USD rates ever! However, a lot of bank branches use this slot to make side money, so you'll be lucky to find a bank that would be willing to perform this transaction. Another restriction is that a customer is only allowed to send one WU/MG transaction in a quarter and not sure what the limit is now, but used to be around 900USD (don't recall anymore). So you'll need plenty family and friends with accounts in that bank if you have a large stash to move.

d) PayPal - the rates are great too, but I would never advise anyone to try this more than once or twice, at most. You know what, just steer clear! If you get flagged by their systems, your account will be suspended for 180 days after which PayPal will wipe your account CLEAN. I am not joking here - all your money will be taken as charges for policy violations.

e) Nigerian Community/Groups - honestly, this should be a last-ditch effort and one I don't typically advise for large transactions. Just make sure you do your checks to ensure you're not buying USD or CAD that was illegally sourced or obtained. AML (Anti-money Laundering) flags are not one to be joked with in Canada.

I can hear someone at the back saying Bitcoin (cryptocurrency)...make I laugh small . Just knowing how volatile that market is, one might arrive YYZ only to realize that they're left with half the value of their initial sum. Except you're a die-hard masochist or you know how to straddle, you may have better memories watching your money light up a fireplace or treating your loved ones and family to a lavish party (2020 has been a year, mbok!)


Lastly, let's talk about pensions. Why would you not make plans to withdraw your hard-earned 25% pension and keep in USD or CAD? Don't you have any respect for your sweat or you just enjoy watching it being devalued? I mean, just last year at about this time, you could still get CAD for N280 and USD for N380, but today you all can see what the rates are. Please please please, be wise!

As per bedbugs, in my opinion best solution is not to buy couch or mattress from marketplace. Either get new, or from an established agency/thrift store (they usually have bedbug prevention procedures).

My policy is if it's softish/upholstered and can't fit into a washing machine, I'm not acquiring it from a random stranger.

What I did when I applied for PR is to contact a police officer from Nigeria, he scanned the form to me, I signed it, added my fingerprints and my passport photo and scanned the document back to him. He scanned my Police Clearance certificate to me the next day. I think my husband said he charged 15k or so(for the two of us). If you check the express entry thread , inspector moshood’s phone number will be given to you if you ask.

The work permit has been granted but biometrics could not be done because of the protests according to VFS! so a paper travel permit was issued.
