The standard procedure is to give the architect a letter of Engagement (this is a written evidence), this is enough for the architect to prosecute the client in case he is trying to play smart. In return the architect will also give the client a letter of acceptance and stating his fees. For private individual project all these are long and tiring process what matter most is trust and integrity.

Make your plans as if you were married. You would soon get married and have kids, so u don't start making amendments to your designs

2 x 1000 liters would be sufficient for that purpose.
