There are furniture makers in the same compound with me and several of them have been accused severally of collecting money and never delivered.
One relocated to another place to avoid people coming to look for him, some are not regular and one of them committed suicide last year due to too much debt and shame.
Perhaps the issue of the escrow would be of great help in safeguarding both client and contractor but the fact is online or offline, whoever wants to swindle would do so and continue his business elsewhere if they so wish and there is the advantage that there would be no way for others to be alerted.

Bros is not funny, no matter how smart one think he is they will find way to cheat and rob you. Let's educate ourselves from experience. Firstly, most of those truck bunk bucket has been modified by reconstructing the bunk to carry less of the product. secondly, even if it is loaded you can never be sure of the loaded quantity. Even those that show you scale receipt that the quantity is right you'll be surprise that those scales has been adjusted before weighing. Another observation is the size of the granites, you get a little more with smaller sizes but you may end up using more in construction at the same time. If engineer in charge can agree to mix small and bigger granites to help owners save money. In terms of sand it's better to always buy dry ones otherwise you end up spending more money. For those of us that are counting tire to determine the load size from the pervious contributors on this same topic, you can see it's a complete waste of time. The cheating is across the board from electric cables to wood suppliers, roofers, tilers, even laborers inflate their prices that you an never image. May God help us from these cheaters.

Generally, a ten tire truck carries twenty ton material allegedly.

Until someone comes up with a mobile truck scale then we’re just relying on hope.

One of my favorite suppliers runs a DAF twenty ten wheel truck. When I ordered thirty ton granite from him he said he can only load twenty five ton maximum.

I wish you had more trust in your engineer maybe find a qualified one that you can also trust. We’ve read all sorts of things on here in the past. Allegations of people parking vans by the site to remove materials at night, inflated invoices loaded with kickbacks, collusion with rogue family members, etc

When I bought granite in Port Harcourt from Chinese people, they displayed their meter outside.

So you get to weigh your truck before loading, infact, they will tell the driver to disembark.

Then they weight it after loading. And you pay what you see on the meter.

Easy peasy.

I paid 20,000 transport for a 30 ton truck. I was in awe.
