Should Vice President Osinbanjo Be Nigeria's Next President by misano(m): 9:47am On Nov 08, 2020 |
The 1999 Constitution of Nigeria did not specifically ascribe a clear cut decision making role to the office of the vice president, so I will not wrap this piece around his office as Nigeria’s vice president. An office that has been described in some quarters as ‘spare tire’, “senior personal assistant to the president with fat salary’’, the description is endless. As such I will not be addressing you much as VP in this piece due to your almost none existing role in the constitution, I will be talking to you as one who can be Nigeria's president one day. So, as the presidential election draws nearer, the question before a few Nigerians is this: Will Osinbanjo make a good president? The painful answer is NO. He is no different from the current president. If you didn't like the Buhari's administration, please you most likely not like Osinbanjo's administration. Yemi Osinbajo had continually defended some inglorious policies of the Federal Government giving excuses for them. One example is in his recent outing to the launch of a book to commemorate the 80th birthday of Olusegun Osoba, Osinbajo told the world that it is wrong for people to insinuate that the president is protecting herdsmen and Boko Haram groups. So, if the president is not protecting them, then the question will be ‘what is he doing about the situation’? As a politician who might have a dream to lead Nigeria as a president, Nigerians expected Prof. Yemi Osinbajo to take actions concerning the many challeges facing the country or at least tell the president of his displeasure at the rate in which innocent Nigerians are being killed needlessly across the country. No part of Nigeria is currently immune against the hunger in the land, the attacks on the highways where people are kidnapped, police brutality, girls being raped and killed almost on a daily basis. Osinbajo is a technocrat and that was why a lot of Nigerians were excited when he became the number two citizen of the nation. People then heaved a sign of relieve that at least for a change we have a VP who will not be a stooge and would be a departure from what the country used to have in persons of VPs but with the actions of Osinbajo on the current mayhem in the country it is clear that he is no different from the current president. The country has never had it this bad in terms of oppression, safety from killer police officers, unemployment & insecurity. Need I remind Osinbajo the story of Easter in the Bible; she fasted, prayed and moved. She spoke out. If she had fasted and prayed and remained in her chamber, the Jews would have been extinct today. What is Osinbajo afraid of? Who is he afraid of? If you ceased to be the VP of Nigeria today, I am 100% sure you can’t go hungry for the rest of your life. I saw you prayed at Pa. Reuben Fasoranti’s residence, really? The Bible says prayer without work is dead on arrival. 3 Likes 1 Share

Save the bullshit, and useless epistle Professor Yemi Osinbajo SAN and Professor Babangana Zulum is what Nigeria needs That you fail to understand roles of a Vice President in a democracy under a Presidency system is due to your naivity Professor Yemi Osinbajo SAN only got to Govern Nigeria as Acting President 7 May 2017 – 19 August 2017, 19 January 2017 – 13 March 2017, 6 June 2016 – 19 June 2016 As an acting President *He went around Niger Delta creeks to negotiate a community based modular refinery with Niger Delta avengers, militants and oil producing Community, this immediately ended oil installation bombing crisis *After the invasion of National Assembly by DSS he sacked the DSS boss Lawal Daura, immediately *Nnamdi Kanu secured many bail and Buhari denied him freedom, once Professor Osinbajo got to be the Acting President Kanu was released N-Power, school feeding and Trader money was launched by him as an acting President, he went round Nigeria under the sun to explain the new policy to the masses and he ensured fair distribution until President Buhari moved it to a less effective ministry . 16 Likes 5 Shares |

TecM0: Don't mind him. They come with their fake show of being neutral and objective Nigerians while this new effort is all aimed at demarketing Osinbajo, after thinking they have successfully done so with Tinubu, so their kinsman can benefit. We all know who they are and his writing below gives his game away. As a politician who might have a dream to lead Nigeria as a president, Nigerians expected Prof. Yemi Osinbajo to take actions concerning the many challeges facing the country or at least tell the president of his displeasure at the rate in which innocent Nigerians are being killed needlessly across the country. What action can any VP take in our system of Governance that will not amount to usurpation of the power of the President who is the head of the executive arm Osinbajo is a part of? Can Osinbajo just order policies to be carried out or must he go to the President with his ideas and appeal for them to be given consideration? We all know which is correct so one has to wonder those who would then speak as if Osinbajo has ultimate power over government initiatives and policies. The part of "at least tell the President" is just laughable and indicative of the mindset of IPOBians. So if Osinbajo complains privately to Buhari about the plights of Nigerians, since this is the only option open to him, he must come out to report to Nigerians that he has complained about their plight to Buhari abi? Where is that done in elective democracies worldwide? Only IPOBians always wish to blacken Osinbajo for things no normal or objective person will hold him responsible for. We know why they alone do that with Osinbajo. 5 Likes 1 Share |

GamalNasser: The Satsnists are your IPOBian brothers and fellow Igbos. They are the ones vociferously and vehemently opposed to the candidacy of Osinbajo. Even the North you Igbos demonize are not opposed to Osinbajo as you Igbos are and have always been. No one has led the call for Osinbajo to resign, even when he has done nothing to warrant doing so, more than you Igbos. Stop playing Ostrich. Admit the truth and shame the devil. 3 Likes 1 Share |

He has shown a knack for problem solving every time he has been given the opportunity.. The only downside he has is that he will be corrupt but not as corrupt as Buhari or the Jonathan Govt but that's okay for now 2 Likes 2 Shares |

Osinbajo won't be president... 1) He doesn't have the political clout. He lost his polling unit at the last elections. 2) He never challenges evils done by his principal, so he is as guilty as his principal. 3) He is a fake pastor and a sleazy lawyer. 4) He is yoruba, and under the zoning principle yorubas have taken their turn. It is the rightful turn of the SE. 5) He is a tribalistic and nepotistic yorubaman, we all saw how the list of aides he appointed in Aso villa was filled with yorubas. Nigerians say NO to Osinbajo.. Your image white-wash propaganda for osinbande won't work. 8 Likes 1 Share |

Re: Should Vice President Osinbanjo Be Nigeria's Next President by Nobody: 10:42am On Nov 08, 2020 |
Elvictor: What has that got to do with anything? Atiku was a selfish guy fighting to replace Obasanjo as President. OBJ, sure that Atiku was the wrong man to replace him, was determined to ensure that did not happen. They never fell out over policies or the administration of Nigeria. In that aspect of things they were perfectly in sync as grand looters trying to outdo each other as per how much of our commonwealth they can steal and allocate to themselves directly or through proxies. So oga, dont come with your usual IPOBian revisionism of trying to make cads of the past saints of today just to suit the premises of your argument. |
