:-this song is played during fa cup final..it was composed in one of the stadia in England.

It was actually written by Henry Lyte in 1847, and the song was sang by William Monk in 1861.

Henry Lyte wrote it on his sick bed

The Great Physician now is near,
The sympathizing Jesus;
He speaks the drooping heart to cheer,
Oh, hear the voice of Jesus!

Sweetest note in seraph song;
Sweetest name on mortal tongue;
Sweetest carol ever sung:
Jesus, blessed Jesus..........

I am not ibo but i fell in love with this hymn when i joined a friend to her church, especiallt when i got to know the english lyrics. dont even know if it has an English version. I had to copy the first lines from somewhere to paste here.
The hymn came to my ears at a point when i was so down in life.

Person dey get one favourite hymn? Dem try ooh. As for me, I have quite a few that I love in no particular order:

1. There's not a friend like the lowly Jesus
2. What a friend we have in Jesus
3. Christian, seek not yet repose.
4. Stand up, stand up for Jesus
5. Great is thy faithfulness
6. Praise be to the father
7. Rejoice in the Lord, oh let his mercy cheer.

Omo, Anglican church can make you love hymns like kilode.

... if God be for us...

Holy words long preserved
for our walk in this world,
They resound with God's own heart
Oh, let the Ancient words impart.
Ancient words ever true
Changing me,changing u
We have come with open hearts
Oh let the ancient words impact.

Words of Life, words of Hope
Give us strength, help us cope
In this world, where e'er we roam
Ancient words will guide us Home.
Ancient words ever true
Changing me, and changing you.
We have come with open hearts
Oh let the ancient words impart.

Holy words of our Faith
Handed down to this age.
Came to us through sacrifice
Oh heed the faithful words of Christ.
Holy words long preserved
For our walk in this world.
They resound with God's own heart
Oh let the ancient words impart.
Ancient words ever true
Changing me, and changing you.
We have come with open hearts
Oh let the ancient words impart.
Ancient words ever true
Changing me, and changing you.
We have come with open hearts
Oh let the ancient words impart.
Ancient words ever true

Trust and Obey

Jesus only is our message

When the roll is called up yonder

blesskewe:
happy Sunday, hymns are sung in all churches if am not mistaken..............

But there's always that one that touches the soul that u like......

I love when we walk with the Lord......lots of them

In Christ alone

In Christ alone my hope is found,
He is my light, my strength, my song
This Cornerstone, this solid Ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I stand.

In Christ alone! - who took on flesh,
Fullness of God in helpless babe.
This gift of love and righteousness,
Scorned by the ones He came to save
Till on that cross as Jesus died,
The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live.

There in the ground His body lay,
Light of the world by darkness slain:
Then bursting forth in glorious day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me,
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ

No guilt in life, no fear in death,
This is the power of Christ in me
From life's first cry to final breath,
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man,
Can ever pluck me from His hand
Till He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I'll stand

Can there be a favourite hymn? I do not think so because hymns speak to one Issue, and we know that many issues affect the man hence many hymns.

My little manys include
1) Lord thy word abideth.
2) Holy, Holy, Holy.
3) Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise
4) Praise to The Lord
5) There's Not A Friend like the Lowly (Highly) Jesus
6,7,8,9,....

1. Jesus, my Lord, my God, my All,
hear me, blest Savior, when I call;
hear me, and from thy dwelling-place
pour down the riches of thy grace;
Jesus, my Lord, I thee adore,
O make me love thee more and more.

2. Jesus, too late I thee have sought,
how can I love thee as I ought?
And how extol thy matchless fame,
the glorious beauty of thy Name?
Jesus, my Lord, etc.

3. Jesus, what didst thou find in me,
that thou hast dealt so lovingly?
How great the joy that thou hast brought,
so far exceeding hope or thought!
Jesus, my Lord, etc.

4. Jesus, of thee shall be my song,
to thee my heart and soul belong;
all that I have or am is thine,
and thou, blest Savior, thou art mine.
Jesus, my Lord, etc.

Re: What's Your Favorite Hymn? by Obalowe(m): 11:24am On Nov 08, 2020
O God our help, in ages past.

1. O God, our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come,
Our shelter from the stormy blast,
And our eternal home.

2. Within the shadow of thy throne,
Still may we dwell secure.
Sufficient is thine arm alone,
And our defense is sure.

3. Before the hills in order stood,
Or earth received her frame,
From everlasting thou art God,
To endless years the same.

4. O God, our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come,
Be thou our guide while life shall last
And our eternal home.
