If the Nigeria police should be reformed, consideration should be put to the issue of cell.
In all Police station, a cell is not fit for animal talk less for human being. And I always wonder where Nigeria borrow the standard we are using.

Ironically, most people who are locked up in cells are just suspect, but they are always treated like animals, and some people have died inside police station cells across the country because of its conditions

The International Committee of the Red Cross recommends that cells be at least 5.4 m2 in size, but in Nigeria we are far from standards

In Nigeria cells, there is no bed, no good toilets, no water, they don't have proper windows, no ventilations.
But in saner climes, they have these facilities, can't we develop too?

Most Nigerians will pay police the money they wanted to be freed because of the condition of the cells.
So I think by now, our government should build and renovates our cells to a modern one, that is in line with human dignity.

Normally our correctional system(prison), should be upgraded too to standards, so people can be rehabilitated too, but that's another talk in another day
But now , police cells should have dignity for suspects

Dear our leaders, pls let us develop too, so we can all enjoy this life too without traveling abroad

Be realistic, most of our schools are worse than the Nigerian Police cells. So, if you want to see change in our society, that is where it will start. All this police reform we are shouting is a joke.

If our police system and judicial system is good, Nigeria will be good, because there will be justice..
No country can be developed if their police is bad

Maybe we should be putting all our suspects in 5 star hotels

Is that not supposed to be a 5* hotel in osun? this is day dreaming

I deliberately avoided quoting that person above me saying it doesn't have to be 5-stsr hotel. Imagine what the idiot would do if she holds positions?

It doesn't supposed to be 5-star hotel but it should be like pig pen? Even pigs in Europe are raised under a better condition.

The idea of policing and prison system is for correction. When "religion" was becoming a problem for China, they created a super camp where people were constantly reoriented.

Prison should be an orientation camp. Better environment, better care and love, skill acquisition and training, constant indoctrination. It should be a CORRECTIONAL CENTER. Unfortunately, NIgeria Prison Service changed to CORRECTIONAL Service only on paper.

The police cell is just a holding center. If a temporary holding center could look like that, NIgeria prisons can only be used to bread more criminals. It's a place where any chance to be a better citizen is erased, where all hopes are lost, where people are dehumanized and treated like animals, where people's hopes are taking from them and the chance to reposition their lives, dashed.

All those pictures you showed can never work in Nigzooria. Its even the police that will help government sell off everything in the room.
