Even if it is sin, Bible never forced anybody to comply or obey the word of God. On the judgement day,God will pay back. What do you have to say about new UAE law on alcohol?

I am not a muslim, but I dont even like Alcohol..

But why should the hisbah be confidently destroying someone's stock?

Nigeria is supposed to be a secular nation. Are Christians and other groups in Kano no longer free to drink?

Yet some folks here are wondering why calls for restructuring the nation are growing...

Sharap there. Mosque dwellers stab innocent keke man and the retaliation led to the destructions. It was never planned nor meditated.

Did Enugu State government burn mosque? Why should Kano State government destroy people's businesses in the name of religion?

Christians didn't burn mosque, Angry Keke people retaliated against their attackers

Angry Keke people don't have religion? The people that burn mosque are not Christian?

Stop saying things that you know nothing about. Alcohol isn’t forbidden in the bible. Drunkenness is forbidden. Moderate and responsible consumption of wine and alcohol is good.

What’s the first miracle of Jesus Christ?

Which one is more dangerous btw Drugs and alcohol?

Isn't this hypocrisy? Why do drugs and don't do alcohol

That is not even my problem... Why should northern state be collecting share from Alcohol?

If someone says Sabon gari people takes alcohol, is it not the same governors of kano state, both previous and current have refused to develop Sabon gari.. Sabon gari looks like a ghetto yet it fetches the highest revenue in Kano state.

I was at Sabon gari at the weekend, i swear that place is becoming worst and I think it is high time the occupant of Sabon gari takes law into their hand and develop their environment...

Sabon Gari is a Sham.......

The north is being hypocrital, honestly

please tell them alcohol and some drugs are more evil than you think. I have witness a situation whereby a son takes alcohol and also gave it to his biological mother, while doing this act he got his mum pregnant so tell me which act will human commits other than this?

These verses do not prohibit alchohol. They only advise against being drunk. The Bible and hence The Christian doctrine (Old and New) does not condem alchohol but preaches moderation. Stop espousing what you don't understand.

you are a fool, Nigeria is a secular state, there is supposed to be a separation of religion and state ....
what about traditionalist? what about people who don't even believe in God at all?... are they no longer Nigerians?
why should you impose your own "truth" and "morality" on other, if they dont agree with it....
this mentality is the exact reason we have boko haram, they will kill Christians and Muslims who disagree with them.... they believe they are following God's teaching as well

It still goes back to what I said.

1) Nigeria is a Federal Republic (just like the United States).

2) The fact that it is a federation means that states can make their own laws (that's why there are state houses of assembly).

This is also true in the United States and in every federation. The constituent parts can make their own laws.

3) Every state in southern Nigeria has its own criminal code. Northern states (or the Northern Region) also had its own criminal code in the early 1960s.

4) Sharia law has existed in Nigeria since before independence and the British considered it to be part of Nigerian customary/native law.

5) However, the British removed the criminal aspects of customary law. This means that customary law is limited to things like marriage and divorce, inheritance, etc, but does not include things like murder, robbery, etc.

This is the reason that trial of murder suspects by torture no longer exists in the south.

6) In the 1960s some northerners complained that Sharia law was being divided into criminal law and personal law and that this is not possible because Sharia Law is one. Ahmadu Bello listened to their complaints and enacted a penal code in Northern Nigeria.

Because of this, most states in Northern Nigeria have a penal code and most states in the south have a criminal code.

7) In the early 2000s, some states in Northern Nigeria passed new laws that included Sharia criminal law. Some people say this is unconstitutional, because what is in the constitution is personal law. However, this has never been tested in the courts.

8 ) The governments of the northern states say that the destruction of bottles of alcoholic beverages is done because of the penal code laws in their state and not because of Sharia law.

9) Note that states have the right to make laws, so long as the law does not contradict the constitution. Anybody that feels agrieved can sue the state government to get the law declared unconstitutional.

For example, Lagos State Government had a state traffic law that permitted LASTMA to impound cars and fine people. Someone's car was impounded and the person sued the government. The court declared the section of the law that gave LASTMA the power to impound cars and fine people null because it was unconstitutional. It violated people's right to fair hearing because it made LASTMA both the complainant and the judge

10) So the northern states say they have the right to ban alcohol, but anybody whose alcoholic beverage was confiscated and who believes that his constitutional rights have been violated can sue the state government.
thanks for this. I guess the reason why these northern states continue to do this nonsense is because Nigeria Breweries or International Breweries haven't sued them.

Religion is a personal thing not a state-run ventures, if a Christian decide not to drink that's choice not forcing others to follow his religion
