EmmyKing86: Great points... It is very correct to act with caution but everybody's circumstances are different. I believe the poster is in training in addition to his normal work so fingers crossed his T2 should take his safely to ILR. He go dey alright He has made some decisions and i totally agree with you that the car part of the purchase was an emotional one rather than a financial savvy one...i am personally not a fan of taking finance on cars. Best decision would have been to buy an affordable one outright with available funds. If i would advice someone on a T2...Buy a house as soon as you can, even if it is day one...chances are your mortgage will cost as much as your rent at most. Get a car only if you need one, when getting one remember this is not naija, so cars are not really a luxury, just a necessity to move between places you need to get to. so buy one without finance if you can or with an amount that wouldn't tilt your finances too much....and most importantly get houses you can rent out...this will give you extra income and your tenant will be paying the mortgage for you through the rent 12 Likes 2 Shares |

EmmyKing86: Rather than pay rent for 2/3 years, if you are able to get a mortgage..... Get a mortgage, by so doing, you would only have 22 years to go...... RENT IS DEAD MONEY......... If you are unable to get a job afterwards, sell the property and cash your equity......... Can you claim cashback from your landlord........ You can lease a brand new vehicle for 24 months ..... SO WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT........ People are adults, with emotional and financial intelligence, to work out what is best for them........ OFF MY CHEST........ 19 Likes |

Everybody do what you want. You are all adults it’s only you that knows your pocket. ThIs topic keeps coming up here and I’ve even been insulted by one small boy here for voicing my opinion. I think it’s a very sensitive topic for some people. If you want a car straight from the show room please go ahead and knock yourself out. If you want second hand do same . It’s your prerogative. We are lucky we live in a free world. Good luck to all the hard working People. Stay blessed. 10 Likes 2 Shares |

marylandcakes: True, everyone can do what they like...but I think everyone should do what they like after they have the best available information...someone like me would prefer to know all the options available before I make a decision, not necessarily because I can do what I like and it's my money.... I see this thread like an advice channel where you can get diverse advice on everything concerning the UK, so I really dont get offended by people's opinion...because really, an opinion is just a view shaped by someone's experience or circumstance. Let's keep sending in our honest opinions about things so that we can all help each other grow faster One love 16 Likes 1 Share |

Las las the importance of mortgage over rent can not be over emphasised. Na person wey no get good credit score or wey no get deposit go sey rent is better than mortgage. 6 Likes |

Good afternoon @ everyone I use to think T2 visas are on a 5 year route to settlement. When we (family) got our visas it was written on the accompanying doc that we are on a 10 year route to settlement Is it new? Or I have been thinking amiss How do one change to 5 year route NB I'm a newbie and I don't intend to be idle while I wait for my professional certification before job hunting Any advice on how to survive, hustle & keep body and soul together, I will greatly appreciate I'm in liverpool

flinton: What visa is your spouse on.... any of your child a british citizen?. This document doesnt look like you were given Tier 2 . Paragraph Gen.3.1: and 3.2 is used when a British citizen spouse cannot meet the financial requirements for Appendix FM. ...but in the interest of a British child it is granted and put on a 10 years path |

Tobexin: That means with £2,500 I already have 10% payment for mortgage? Please bro, could you kindly help me with a link to one of those properties? Or better still, tell me the specific part of the NorthWest, I could check for myself. Lemme too become house owner abeg. 2 bed flat for 25,000 ! That’s less than 17 months rent in my 2-bedroom East London flat. 2 Likes 1 Share |

LagosismyHome: Bros even if i loose my Job God forbid, i will still sell the house and get my equity back. Being rent free is relieving for me, not paying someone else’s mortgage. And buying a brand new car for me is not a liability, i wanted peace of mind with manufacturers warranty, and for the car model the price difference between a brand new and used wasn’t much. My NHS job is secure. 11 Likes 3 Shares |

And does your BRP say T2/dependants? Call or email the details on that letter. You can raise a complaint as well https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/uk-visas-and-immigration/about/complaints-procedure#how-to-complain https://www.gov.uk/contact-ukvi-inside-outside-uk And if your BRPs are correct and nothing was done, clearly state the error on your next application detailing the mistake they made. flinton: |

flinton: Then there a mistake somewhere.... maybe the Visa officer was sleeping while processing your visa. You need to call , write and sort it out Or else when it comes to renewal stories that touched can enter. That write up in that letter is definitely not for T2 category |

EngrSaks: Not everybody like to take advice especially if it’s not what they want to hear. This car lease issue has come up so many times on here if you go back on the pages, like you said this thread is a place where we can share our experiences so others can learn but you get the minority hiding behind the keyboard using it as an excuse to be rude. 1 Like |

Tobexin: Leasehold with short lease...that na one chance o, as person wey get the lease fit call any amount for you...RUN! Them nor dey rush for house matter o...do your proper investigation...it is always better to buy a house with freehold... But if na leasehold your money reach, just make sure no comma for the lease (let it be long above 70 years) or any additional fees you might have to pay inside 1 Like 2 Shares |
