Redcrafton: Sir. What do you mean maybe? The vast majority of tomato supplies we consume (household & commercial) in Nigeria are grown in the North, including Jos. Sorry but no maybes here the quantities produced anywhere else is just not bankable. Again why put ourselves through this undue stress. Many southerners have always said the North are good for nothing. Why has this rejoinder been met with surprise? Go to Anambra and other industrial hubs to see how many trucks offload goods daily, including for factories. Let's even assume that the south can replace all products currently shipped from the north? At what prices would we provide them. When do we start this agricultural plan? How do we survive in the intervening period? Rest assured our prices would be prohibitive per unit! I stayed in Bayelsa for close to five years and even though it's supposed to be a riverine community, it's fishing industry was without structure. Fish was expensive and the fish rich areas were largely volatile and insecure. The Professor may be correct but is he right (taking the right step)? |

I heard some youth from a particular region were hiding in trailers running to the south during convid 19 lockdown. Can you tell me the region those youths are from. BIGGESThead6: 6 Likes 1 Share |

angelfallz: How do u expect a region under war to cultivate? The war scenario does not hold water. North does not feed any region. They can as well keep d tomatoes and die of eating it. They need the money, else hunger will finish them. You can buy from Cameroon, Cotonou etc Must u use tomatoes? We have ofe akwu stew. 4 Likes 1 Share |

If only the idiot up there who is claiming to be feeding the whole country will mobilize the youths up there to press for disintegration so we see who blinks first. A region that has held power more than any other region is still the poverty capital of the country is still talking. Number one in illiteracy, number one in terrorism, number one in poverty, number one in backwardness and a fool is here ranting. Never a day will he not pour his hatred on the Igbos. Tell your people to agree to separate because we are tired of this fraud called Nigeria. Anumanu. 7 Likes |

Redcrafton:Talk is cheap. Currently, how many of these food items have you planted already in that your region that can feed the population? The southwest that you are trying to despise will survive through our neighbouring countries. All those items you mentioned are even more here in SW than your region except ogbono which in anyways not our food with closed substitute okro Which country does your landlock east can depend on when your land of filled with potopoto 1 Like 1 Share |

princemillla:if north go their different way, lemme tell u one thing... There will be food abundant, middle east has no arable land for farming neither do they farm but they can feed the whole of Africa, if the country split, all borders both sea and land will be open for inflow of commodities, there will be no shortage.. so don't give them chance to threaten u with food because I can't even remember last I ate something that came from North 5 Likes |

Arrewa:One of the sensible comments I have read on nairaland.Pple just talk like illiterates some don't even know that importation of food from the north is how some southerners feed,do this Prof. think that those pple will just wake up and allow this stuff to go on. Simple law of Economics comes to play,if u pple can produce this foodstuff sufficiently nobody would have thought of importing food from the north. |

Arrewa: Chest beating at its best. The north is a complete parasite. Cow meat isn't healthy and many people are going for fish. You are worried that SE is landlocked, how about the north that is a desert? Let the north start pushing for secession. Igbo staple food is garri and soup which one can cook without onions but there must be palm oil. Is palm oil from the north. You think your elders are stewpid insisting on one Nigeria? 6 Likes 1 Share |

Donspicey: Imagine ooo They are talking of cow when ppl are abandoning red meat due to its health challenge. Have we finished eating fowl, fish, turkey, bush meats, native goats, pigs etc Tomatoes? Ofe akwu tastes better than tomatoes stew. There is nothing North offers that don't have substitute. We have varieties of rich food in the East. They will beg to sell their rotten tomatoes soon |
