My only fear is that we might get into the bad books of the democrats as a result of use of military resources to suppress civil protests.
This area don't always go down well with the democrats. Hilary Clinton and Joe Boden were pretty quick to register their solidarity during the EndSARS protest. Let's pray it's not a bad omen for the tucano.

The PMB administration should immediately rejig it international diplomacy team towards the incoming US administration. If we have to suck up to them, we better start doing so early.

Those democrats no get joy

The Democrats have been a nuisance to much of the other world they don't consider as important... Africa for example.

I pity the lot of Nigerians jubilating blindly not knowing the hard hammer would fall again like it has been previously under most Democrat rule.

The Tuscanos will be delivered.
Biden will be different from Obama he will have a functional perspective towards Africa and Nigeria.
Biden’s view towards Terrorism is shaped by his Son( Late Hunter Biden) , Not Obama’s who never had any Children in harm’s way.
Biden’s main priority right now is the Covid virus.
The deal is done .
There also is a much better relationship between the two.

I think Biden might let the Tucano deliveries for Nigeria fly. However I really fear for future support for the Tucanos.

Biden is simply an extension of the Obama administration. As we all know, Obama's administration was very hostile to Nigeria.

They initially blocked the Tucano purchase from Brazil, after the Rann Bombings they blocked Tucano deliveries again for Nigeria.

Obama frustrated Nigeria's efforts to buy arms from Israel. The ones we bought from Pakistan, they also frustrated it, denying Nigeria right of air passage in the middle east region.

The issues we had with South-Africa was primarily as a result of America frustrating Nigeria's efforts to buy arms from other countries.

This really is not looking really good for Nigeria's military, they have the power to also frustrate our defence industry.

To avoid problems we would be forced to go suck up to them.

Hoping for the best

As you can see, we are all right. Like we predicted this was going to happen.

The US has the power to frustrate us out of our holes, it's best at this stage we start pandering to Biden.

Jonathan, Obasanjo and Buhari have all been quick to congratulate and show support to him.

Hopefully it translates to a meaningful relationship.

Russia is clearly not a reliable partner, and China can only do so much.

I wanted Trump to win that elections so that our Tucano deal will come through because it's obvious Trump is committed to selling those weapons to us as per his business man mentality which is a huge shift to the Dems who rely so much on human rights concern from international NGOs. Whether we like it or not, this present administration hasn't scored well wrt human rights records infact it's a disaster. Biden and Clinton were the first to even speak out during the end SARS protests. I see alot of Nigerians jubilating for DEMs victory at the polls without looking out for our own interest first. It's my prayers that Biden's administration don't invoke the Leahy's law to deal with us, because it's gonna be a huge set back on the military especially on the achievements of the CAS.
I know our service Chiefs will be sweating profusely on the new development with regards to that $600m weapons deal.

OPERATION LAFIYA DOLE: AIR TASK FORCE OF DESTROYS ISWAP FUEL STORAGE FACILITY, NEUTRALIZES SEVERAL FIGHTERS AT TUMBUN ALLURA IN BORNO STATE

1. The Air Task Force of Operation LAFIYA DOLE has neutralized several Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters and destroyed some of their structures, including a suspected fuel storage facility, at Tumbun Allura, a terrorists’ logistics hub on the fringes of Lake Chad in the Northern part of Borno State. The air raid was executed yesterday, 8 November 2020, on the heels of credible Human Intelligence reports as well as aerial surveillance missions which led to the identification of a command post as well as a suspected fuel dump, with large number of jerry cans and barrels concealed in make shift structures within the settlement.

2. The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) attack aircraft, dispatched by the Air Task Force to engage the location, scored accurate hits in the target area resulting in the destruction of the terrorists’ fuel dump, which was seen engulfed in flames. Several ISWAP elements were also neutralized as a result of the air strike.

Well it seems the Republicans will be retaining the majority in the senate, that might help to frustrate bidens efforts to block the delivery if we play our game well.
And things he did/said while campaigning might not translate into policies while in government.
We might just have to give his administration some of the things they want if we really need the tucanos delivered.

OPERATIONAL EFFECTIVENESS RECEIVES BOOST AS CAS INSPECTS ONGOING REACTIVATION WORK ON F-7NI AIRCRAFT, COMMISSIONS INFRASTRUCTURAL PROJECTS IN MAKURDI

The drive to reposition the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) into a highly professional and disciplined force through capacity building initiatives for effective, efficient and timely employment of air power in response to Nigeria’s national security imperatives, is receiving further boosts as the Service is set to take delivery of additional aircraft, including 3 JF-17 multi-role fighter aircraft and 8 Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicles (UCAVs), whilst also reactivating several existing platforms such as the F-7Ni fighter jet. This was made known today, 9 November 2020, by the the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, who was on an operational visit to NAF Base Makurdi to assess the ongoing reactivation work on the F-7 aircraft.

While in Makurdi, the CAS also commissioned some infrastructural projects, including the newly-remodeled and fully-furnished NAF School of Air Intelligence (NAFSAINT) as well as a block of 10 x single bedroom and block of 6 x 2-bedroom accommodation for the Pakistani pilots and technicians who would support the JF-17 aircraft during the first year of its operations in Nigeria. The CAS was also briefed on the progress of some ongoing Research and Development (R&grin) projects, which include a handheld single-rocket launcher and 6-tube rocket launcher, being jointly executed by the 131 Engineering Group and the 633 Central Armament Depot (633 CAD) Makurdi.

Speaking after assessing the progress of work on the F-7Ni aircraft, the CAS expressed extreme delight that the Federal Government’s support to the NAF was yielding great dividends in ensuring the Service has the required platforms to more effectively secure the Nation. He noted that this was evident in the volume of ongoing reactivation work on several grounded aircraft to bring them back to serviceable status. “Recall that, just last week, we were in Kainji to assess the progress of ongoing in-country Periodic Depot Maintenance (PDM) on 2 Alpha Jet aircraft. Today, we are in Makurdi for the reactivation of the F-7 aircraft and, by next week, we will be in Kano to see what is going on with the Life Extension Programme (LEP) of another batch of 3 L-39ZA aircraft”, he said.

Air Marshal Abubakar emphasized that these activities clearly showed the level of seriousness with which the Government is working to ensure that the NAF gets some of its grounded aircraft back to flying status. He revealed that, out of the 9 F-7 fighter jets earmarked for reactivation, 7 aircraft, which require high level, in-depth maintenance by the Original Equipment Manufacturer, were being disassembled for freighting to China due to the unavailability of all the necessary maintenance and test equipment within Nigeria. He however highlighted that 2 of the aircraft would undergo Life Extension Programme within the Country, which would be executed by the Chinese technical partners, with support from NAF Engineers and Technicians, using equipment in the recently reactivated Machine Tools Workshop at the 131 Engineering Group. The idea, he said, was to ensure that the NAF has adequate number of serviceable aircraft whilst also building the capacity of NAF personnel in line with what was done with the Alpha Jets in Kainji as well as with the C-130Hs and the L-39ZAs aircraft in Ikeja and Kano, respectively. “This clearly shows that all hands are on deck. We are working round the clock to ensure that we have what it takes in terms of capabilities as well as capacity to ensure that we provide the required security for our people and our country”, the CAS added. The further disclosed that the UCAVs being expected from China had been packaged for shipment to Nigeria, while the training of the NAF personnel to man them is ongoing in China.

Speaking earlier during the commissioning ceremony, the CAS stated that since 2015, the NAF had prioritized the provision of good living accommodation for personnel as well as befitting hostels and state-of-the-art training facilities for its schools. These efforts, he said, had greatly enhanced the output of NAF operations and given the Service several technological breakthroughs. Air Marshal Abubakar further noted that the current security challenges facing the Nation had necessitated robust, unique and diversified approaches to military operations, particularly in intelligence gathering. “Upgrading our structures for intelligence gathering is one of those approaches. As such, the importance of this event cannot be overemphasized”, he said.

Air Marshal Abubakar further disclosed that the acquisition of 3 variants of UCAVs; 2 x Wing Loong II, 4 x CH-4 and 2 x CH-3; were part of efforts to enhance the NAF’s intelligence gathering for air operations. He added that the equipment alone cannot deliver accurate intelligence. According to him, “the NAF is not oblivious of the fact that it would always need skilled intelligence personnel to translate the information from these machines into actionable intelligence needed to formulate plans, make decisions and take actions. As such, the Service is keenly developing the knowledge and skills of intelligence operators for this purpose”.

While reminding personnel to justify the resources being expended to improve their knowledge, skills and welfare, the CAS urged them to do all within their power to ensure that they deliver desired results for the security and progress of the Country. “As a Service, we must strive to meet the expectations of the country at this time of our heightened involvement in curbing insecurity. We must efficiently protect the citizenry and our critical assets and, as much as, possible support the civil authorities in ensuring the safety and security of our society. We must ensure we put in our best to ensure that the Nation’s territorial integrity and sovereignty are not undermined by individual or group of individuals”, he said. The CAS expressed his profound appreciation to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari, for his support in ensuring that the NAF is better skilled and equipped to fulfill its statutory responsibilities. He also thanked members of the National Assembly for their continued support to the Service.

Earlier in his welcome remarks, the Commandant NAFSAINT, Air Commodore Ernest Owai, while expressing his appreciation to the CAS for his unwavering support, stated that the School, in keeping with the CAS’ Vision, had continued to review its curriculum and manuals in accordance with the dynamic nature of the intelligence statecraft to ensure the provision of accurate and timely intelligence to support NAF operations. He said the upgraded facilities would provide the much-needed relief and enabling environment for more effective impartation of knowledge. “As the CAS always says, ‘you cannot give what you do not have’, hence the drive for capacity building. We are indeed thankful to the CAS for improving the lot of the NAFSAINT and for continuously showing uncommon commitment to meeting the needs of the School”. He assured that the facility would be judiciously utilized and properly maintained to serve generations of NAF personnel that would pass through the School.

Other dignitaries at the ceremony included the Chief of Defence Intelligence, Air Vice Marshal Mohammed Usman; the Commander Operation WHIRL STROKE; Air Officers Commanding of the Tactical Air Command and Air Training Command; as well as other senior military officers and heads of security agencies in Benue State.

Where how will the Tucanos be delivered under a Biden administration! Then you don't know his antecedents. Go check them up. This is a guy who routinely talks down on Africa like they are lesser beings in fact during the debates for nomination in 2007 he dismissed Africa as a place he would lecture not dialogue with, it's right there on tape, such a shame yet every time Nigerians sing hullabaloo for Democrats in power. Just what exactly have they done for you except mouth inanities just like they do blacks in their own America. This is the Joe Biden that was delivering blankets to Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression as leverage for favors his trademark of trading influence until President Trump came to power and gave them lethal javelins that all but halted Russian Tanks rolling over Kiev. We forget too quickly, this is the Obama/Biden that refused to sell Nigeria common ammunition against boko haram, denied us the Tucanos for 5 years until they left office while boko haram was on a slaughtering rampage until again Trump came along and put ink to paper. President Trump is a pragmatist, a proven achiever which he brought to the presidency and has achieved more for the US in 4 years than all other administrations put together for the last 60 years and beyond that made the world a better place. The records are there for everyone to see except one is biased. If Biden wins which won't happen there goes your Tucano, they would find an excuse not to deliver, period. Remember the racist Leahy law, it was coined by Democrats. The man is still a living senator in the US Senate, all corrupt politicians. Worse still we have the most useless president in the history of our country Nigeria who rushed to congratulate an illegal victory of a man who refused to sell his country weapons whilst serious countries of Nigeria's geo-political weight China, Russia, Mexico, Brazil, Turkey refrained from doing so knowing President Donald John Trump will likely pull through and never forgets.

Even though I'm not a frequent commenter here, but the points the guy made is not out of place and it's a logical prediction of how the Biden administration could look like for Nigeria. Democrats generally usually follow the same play book, and here we are talking about a potential administration who had also served as VP under an administration that was hostile to Nigeria arms procurement efforts.

Instead of countering him with valid points and rational deductions , you resulted to name calling which is typical of people bereft of any intellectual contribution to a discourse .
