good afternoon folks,

My toyota corrolla sport 2006 vibrates when I get to 120km/h.

when I apply the brake (at high speed) at a sudden , my car tyre turns to the right.
also my car on motion without being steered drift to the right.
I (bought )changed the brakes about few weeks ago.-makes long hissing sound when applied on speed to bring car to a halt

I feel there is something wrong at the right hand side .
A friend said its is the "bushing" of the joint that is the culprit (I drove in his vehicle also toyota corolla- he wanted to show me it also happened in his vehicle).

I frequent long distance twice a month.

I appreciate any inputs to know what to look out for as I would like to get it checked by a mechanic

GAZZUZZ:

Not every foreign used car was used well.

This vehicle I sold early this year, just got due for oil change (the engine oil that came with it.)

https://www.nairaland.com/5896873/sold-spotless-clean-title-mercerdes

No other form of repair has been done including tyres

Also from the service records , even the transmission oil is not due for another 50k miles or more.

People should do proper research on vehicles they buy, to avoid lemons.

I hope you know Nigerians also use cars abroad? Imagine buying a used car used by a Nigerian grin

Finally , people who are used to buying cheap substandard parts , and postponing repair jobs you feel are not serious will fault that quote without getting a 2nd and third opinion.

Lol @ imagine buying a used car from a Nigerian.

1. Go to a professional suspension analyst let them check if all your tyres aren’t warped, correct tyre pressure, also check all suspension components. Go for wheel balancing.

2. Lower control arm bushings may be bad. The right one (passanger side) is more damaged thus the whole weight of the car swerves to the right.

3. Go for wheel alignment

4. Low quality brake pads, entering dirty water too often. As long as it brakes/stops fine, overlook the hissing noises.
Cheap fix: wind up, play music grin

Gazzuzz, Gurus in the house, I have an issue with my 2006 corolla LE, this has occurred twice now. First i was on the express doing like 100km/hr and had to hit the brakes to slow down suddenly, afterwards i notice the brake pedal went completely soft and goes all the way down. Had to park somewhere and turn off the engine, pumped the brakes and its was solid again but felt a bit soft but was working. I did a brake fluid flush afterwards and its was ok for a few weeks till it happened again. The brake is working now but I'm very concerned.

I did some research on brake pedal suddenly going soft and falling all the way down, the main culprit i got was the "Master Cylinder". Could this be the problem? Has anybody had similar problems before?

Also, there is this squeaky sound from the brake pads and drum in the morning when i brake, it normally goes off after a while but it quite embarrassing. Could this be the pads? Changed them not long ago (Ashimco)

Check for leaks, there might be air in your brake system, if not, the seals in your master cylinder might be bad.

Yes, i thought so initially that was why i did a brake fluid flush and bleeding at all the wheels.

Do you have brake failure when driving in town? If answer is no, then you have a high temp issues on the brake lines causing brake oil to boil.

Popular culprits are

1. Poor quality brake fluid

2. Poor quality brake pads

3. Stiff calliper pistons/pins.

Check and confirm all these if you do not have brake failure while driving in town.

Good evening Engineers.
My wife went for a routine service of our 2010 Highlander with i4 engine yesterday. The mechanic assigned one of his apprentices to handle it. So, today, she wasn’t observing anything wrong in the suv until it failed accelerate well while on speed. She said it was difficult to stop along the route, for her own safety so she kept moving, until it eventually stopped. Then she noticed that there were traces oil spillage trailing along her path. When a helping hand arrived, they noticed that the oil filter was no longer in place. They put another oil and the oil filter, there was no oil remaining in the engine as at the time it stopped. It didn’t start despite replacing the oil. The mechanic that inspected it said that the engine is damaged.
Please how best can I fix the vehicle? It’s in ogun state. Thank you.

I don't have this issue driving within town, The brake failure problem only occurred twice when i did aggressive braking, first when a danfo pull straight into the express nearly colliding with me, that was months ago, the second recently when i was in traffic trying to beat curfew. I did flush out the old fliud when it first happened to Allied Bleu brake fluid and bled out the old fliud out of all the wheels.

Also my brake fluid reservoir is not low, no sign of leaking at the wheels, so i don't think there is leakages except internal that i can't see.

I replaced the pads to the popular Ashimco, don't know if is a good brand, was my mechanic that bought it. I changed the drum lining also but the squeaky sounds in the morning is out of this world, its like alarm to wakeup my neighbors.

Technically I expect the 2.7L i4 in the vehicle to have a good low oil switch off mechanism, find a second opinion but with what you described, the engine don knock be that, as in the engine has given up the ghost. Solution rebuild or replace engine

Likely, you're dealing with a knocked engine. This is ground for litigation imo.

It’s a very sad day for me. Paying for the consequence of someone’s negligence. Please do you have an idea of how much the engine would likely cost and where to get a good one?
