Kudos to these young Nigerians successfully growing plants on a rocky soil composed of nepotism, religious fundamentalism, crony capitalism, and visionless, unsustainable leadership.

Some Nigerian youths keep braving the odds, despite the BUAs and Dangotes getting all the juicy concessions, tax cuts, and preferential treatments.

There is no special policy made to encourage startups in general, or access to low-interest loans and research grants for meaningful tech startups, but there are several policies for cement producers and crony capitalists disguising as self-made successful multibillionaires. To say that this country is preparing for her future is to lie to yourself and insult logic.

Dangote and BUA are rich since Buhari was in his village, their parents are among africa's richest people, they can do well with or without PMB. FG has many initiatives for start-ups and existing business but u're here finding thread to incite ethno-religious debate. Look through these, they may help u or someone:
1. CENTRAL BANK OF NIGERIA’S CREATIVE INDUSTRY FINANCING (CIFI) CREATIVE INDUSTRY FINANCING INITIATIVE
The CIFI also has four (4) vertical areas for financing under the eligible creative activities which include Fashion, Information Technology, Movies, and Music.
FUNDING

Eligible businesses can access loans of over N1, 000,000,000.00 (one billion naira) funded by the Agri-Business, Small and Medium Enterprises Investment Scheme (“AGSMEIS”). The seed fund by the AGSMEIS is approximately N22.9 billion and is appropriated as follows:

Student Software Development Loan – N1.0 billion
Information Technology – N5.5 billion
Movie Production – N3.0 billion disaggregated into:
Production – N1.5 billion
Equipment Financing – N1.5 billion
Movie Distribution – N4.0 billion
Music – N5.4 billion
Fashion – N4.0 billion
2. FGN SPECIAL INTERVENTION FUND FOR MSMEs (National Enterprise Development Programme)
The Fund is a Federal Government of Nigeria initiative to provide subsidized loans to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) at single digit (9% per annum) all inclusive interest rate. The Fund is also to cater for applications received from SMEDAN under the National Enterprise Development Programme (NEDEP) Scheme.
3. CBN; Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Fund (MSMEDF)
Micro entrepreneurs (i. e. borrowers seeking loans of less than N500,000) are to approach any of the four institutions:
* Microfinance Banks
* NGO/Microfinance Institutions
* Financial Cooperatives
4. NIRSAL STARTCREDIT
Agriculture – The Agri-Business/Small and Medium Enterprise Investment Scheme is an initiative to support the Federal Government’s efforts and policy measures for the promotion of agricultural businesses and small/medium enterprises (SMEs) as vehicles for sustainable economic development and employment generation. The interest rate is nine percent (9%) per annum.
Micro loans – This is for entrepreneurs, traders and students to access up to N1m for existing businesses. The interest rate charged by Nirsal on loans is a minimum with the total dependent on the tenor of the loan. Micro lending is the provision of financial services for people who don’t have access to traditional financial services such as banks. The loans are aimed at individuals who were previously considered “unbankable” by larger banking institutions. These are borrowers who are possibly dealing in small amounts of money each day, living in hard-to-access areas, without credit histories or who don’t meet “traditional requirements” within the banking sector.
SME loans – They provide a loan of over N500k to help consolidate or invest in your business, that is repayable in up to 24 months. The loan is for use as working capital or for the purchase of fixed assets.
Asset Financing – Asset Finance gives you the opportunity to own that asset you had always longed for. Be it a generator, mobile phone, laptops, washing machine, household furniture etc.

Bro, calm down, u shouldn't be saying this. Both the east and west are very hard working and really been cheated by Northern Nigeria. The day we all stop fighting our selves in the south and focus on our collective enemy from the north, the best for us.

How many northerners do u see in the tech world or private startups? But the northerners are everywhere occupying all govt agencies.

Deacagon is a Nigerian tech firm doing wonders too and owned by igbo man who also influenced the start of jobberman.

See eh, South East and west are too talented. North is enjoying from our sweat and resources.

How come North East is entering famine in few months to come?

How come North is the poorest region in the world? How come North is not developed like Cape Town after ruling Nigeria for decades?

how come north is lagging behind in education? How come north is security prone and houses two known terrorist groups feared around the world?

How come north is so scared of breakup? How come north is topping in the least of education disadvantage states?

Give me answers to these questions.

Since 1999 paypal and even stripe (both mainstream payment platforms) are yet to come to Nigeria. So what makes you think WhatsApp pay (a side player) will come ?
There are lot of features on Facebook right now that are not opened to African users, thats not to talk of the much more precarious fintech world.

WhatsApp would be linked to your phone number which links directly to your bank account, more like an advance USSD transfer payment.. its security would definitely be extreme.

In essence, the startup is foreign owned and eventually transferred over to them in a few years.

North East is famine prone because they've been in IDPs for many years, insecurity won't allow them to farm as they've one of the best farm produce land in the nation.
Insecurity is everywhere in Nigeria depending on how it's handled. I hope u saw the signal of during #Endsars protest where hoodlums went on destroying properties, killing people, disorderliness everywhere, it's telling you how it would be if not managed properly, very sound signal which shouldn't be celebrated by senseful humans.
North may be poor by figure due to the larger population but still produces the most food many eat in Nigeria and sahel nations.
North is lagged behind in education because the number of those out of school is used to weigh the index but educated Kano Indigene alone are as much as one state in Nigeria.

All u said still doesn't change the facts.

No one pushed north into high population. Did we ask north to go into terrorism? Did we ask north to birth and birth and birth anyhow they like?

How can u use population as excuse for ur problems? How? When it is not by force to have large population u can't meet their needs.

North has ruled this country more than any other region. Has North turn into developed region?
How can u say u are doing well in education when greater number of ur population are out of school and others need lower cut off marks to secure admission? Guy, sincerely, north is just funny.
North remains the poorest region in the world. North remains the region with highest mortality rate

North remains the region that doesn't want a breakup or restructuring
North remains the only region with highest number of illiterates in the world

North destroys alcohol based businesses but still take money generated from alcohol based businesses. I mean, North is simply shameless. I just don't get it.

Say no more. Yorubas own and dominate anything Fintech in this country. No be 2by2 shops and screaming market everywhere. We have gone past those ones.
If you know how much those 2by2 shop owners are generating, you go piss your pants. Also one has freedom to do what he wants with his money while owners of fintecs need to consult their partners before making any decision. Also fintec can take over anytime. In 2018 i had a chance to start a tech company but i was given a condition to give a huge part of my company percentage to the would be investors. I had to turn down the offer. Igbos have the world's largest apprenticeship system. What that means is that we don't need tech companies or foreign partnerships to generate all the capitals we need to start any business. If you don't own your business 100% then you are not truly free. That's one of the reasons igbos stand out from you guys. Can the owner of paystack still lay claim to the company today?. You guys try to mock us on nairaland but in real life we just laugh at the ignorance of your people. So continue to massage your ego. It doesn't affect us at all.

It's not about knowing fintech, it's about proving it. No one doubts or argues with results.

The likes of Kuda, paystack and the rest of them attracting foreign direct investments or seed funds have simply been able to proof their worth in the fintech space.
Interswitch is said to be worth $1Billion as at today. So that's the amount any investor would pay to buy her over.
You can attest to the fact that this company has proved her mettle and has shown her strength over the years.

Trust me, there are lots of other fintech products that will still attract such large investments, but are currently "showing working".

All the best bro.
