Congrats to you. You pursued the dream till you succeeded. I too will testify

Seems only people with full funding are sharing visa approval transcripts.
I don't have full funding not even half full so I get excited and nervous reading visa transcripts approved with full fundings seems that's a norm here nw.

I have a good statement from my sponsor, I pray that would suffice. Lord let your favour grace and goodness go with me on the 20th if November, I pray in Jesus name!

Amen, God's grace will speak for you and the rest of us. Please are you having your interview in Lagos or Abuja, and is it emergency application you did? Some of us are yet to get dates and our resumption date is in some weeks time. The dates we got are April 2021, which is very far for anyone resuming for Spring.

Good day everyone and well done to everyone keeping the page alive. Congratulations also to everyone that have gotten their visas.

Please I would like to know if one can submit a bank statement different from the one submitted to the school used in processing the I20. I will appreciate all response to my question particularly from people that have done this before. Thank you in anticipation. All the best to everyone.

VISA APPROVED
30th October, 2020
Lagos consulate
Window 9.

So it went thus:

VO: Good morning, pass your documents(I was trying to separate my i20 from other documents the biometrics peeps folded with it but he said I should pass all, so I did). Are you nervous?

ME: ( I didn't know what to answer that will suit him so I just smiled . I was actually nervous)

VO: There's no need to be nervous, we're just gonna have a conversation, OK?

ME: OK.

VO: Why are you going to WIU?

ME: I'm going for my master's degree in(cuts me off)

VO: Tell me why you're going to WIU, not some memorised lines

ME: (I think I flustered for words here cos I didn't know what he wants to hear) The school offered me a full graduate assistantship that covers (cuts in again)

VO: Are you going to WIU because they're going to fund you? OK listen, if someone walks up to you and says “why do you want to go to this school, what would you say?

ME: OK. I'm going there because the RPTA program will offer me a GIS certification along with my degree and.... cuts in

VO: What's GIS?

ME: it's geographic information system

VO: What's it used for?

ME: It's used for collecting and analyzing spatial data in...

VO: Why do you want to study GIS?

ME : I'm not going to study GIS, it's just a certification that comes with the program

VO: I know, but why do you need it .

ME: It's important in natural resource management and that's the concentration I'm going for(He nodded)

VO: Who'll be sponsoring you?

ME : I received a graduate assistantship that covers my tuition and offers monthly stipends, the deficit will be taken care of by my uncle

VO : What does he do?

ME : He's a medical doctor in the UK

VO: Have you traveled out of the country before?

ME : Never had any reason to

VO : Are you married? I said no
Do you have kids? I said no

He types briefly and said he'll be issuing my visa and to keep my i20 safe, pay my reciprocity fee.... Then I left.

Suggestions from my experience :
1. Don't try to avoid any VO, have an open mind and be ready for anyone you're sent to otherwise you'll be disorganized and disoriented within your first few seconds. This happened to me. I was hoping not to be interviewed by that VO. He was a big time driller.

2. Sometimes, your proposed response might not be what a particular VO wants to hear. So, have something else up your sleeve, something genuine and convincing.

3. Prepare, pray and focus.

4. It's OK to be nervous, but get over it fast so that the brain can think.

Fairheart and Texrem, you both deserve a special mention here, words will fail me if I wanted to detail how helpful you both have been. Thank you so much. It's amazing how you two can switch from a friendly conversational tone to a strict VO mode grin

@Omomayelekasi, sincerely, you're an angel in human body . Thanks for all your help and support, the motivation, the subtle chastising. You deserve the best of life.

Thank you all nairalanders, I learnt from every one of your posts. Thank you Vincent, I don't take you for granted at all. God bless you for all the little things you did that now means so much.

Success to the rest of you guys
And congratulations in advance!!

Yes you can, provided there's no particular name on the issued i20, if it's just funds from family then no issue.

To the best of my knowledge, i don't think it's proper. The I-20 form contains every info you provided via the (official) one submitted to the school. If the i20 has been issued already, it'll not really make sense if the VO finds out that what you have on i20 is different from what you present. Imagine having Mr. A's name on i20 and Mrs. B's on another statement of account.

Kindly go with the former. Funny thing is that the VO may not even ask for bank statement during your interview but it's of paramount importance that you stick to your former arrangement.

Some schools don't actually include your sponsor's name on i20 and some schools actually do that.
What you should have done earlier was to send the two statements to them. But you may still write them, telling them about the new sponsor.

No funding, no course allignment, no anything you can think abt, just Grace.
Visa transcript approved.
Interview date: 6th November, 2020. Sorry it took time to post, i am nairaland shy(if theres even anything like that) @mulerider did this.Bae got me hotel and booked taxi for me, never seen anyone as supportive, woke me up to pray severally, alaye I slept. He did the praying and fasting all night. I really can't appreciate enough. Interview time 7am, taxi dropped me at about 6am, on the queue, the next person that appeared behind happen to be Moses, the guy I have virtually known, but I refused to introduce myself, so he wnt locate me incase I get a reject, but I changed my mind to reach out.

Eventually window 12, Though my prayer was to get approved, even if I say rubbish.

ME: Good morning sir

VO: Drop your documents here

VO: where are you going to in the US

ME: Southern Arkansas University, Magnolia Arkansas to pursue my master degree in computer and information science with research interest in bioinformatics... Cuts me off.

VO: what is bioinformatics

Me: Bioinformatics is an aspect of computer information science that has to do with dissemination, manipulation, storage and processing of Bio data...my head was empty here, I just started saying, you know making Bio data easier to reach...

VO: *felt unsatisfied* why did you pick this research.

ME: see ehn, I applied for a job at Federal ministry of science and technology, they rejected me because I dont have degree in computer science and in bioinformatics... I wanted to start crying in my mind.

V.O: who is sponsoring you
ME: my parent.

VO: what do they do.
ME: My dad is a dealer with dangote cement.

VO: what did you say he is doing with dangote.

ME: He partners with Dangote cement

VO: What does he dooo

ME: He collects goods in large quantity and sell to retails

VO: *now satisfied* OK

ME: Ok ke, He is also an estate developer, while my mum owns a high school here in Lagos, they have a joint account to take care of my education

VO: Do you have Statement of Account.

ME: gave him, looked at it forever and was just brought out white paper, to be honest, from here I did not hear anything again.

Thanks to God , to Him, to @oluwole(super kind soul) aka @mulerider, to Nike Omijori (Humble and wonderful sister), to ake (always doing the findings), Fairheart (guy!!!! Words can't express), thanks to everyone literally

Thank you for answering. What do you advice in the case the initial sponsor bailed out when applicant is about to submit the documents. No specific name is stated on I20 just family/friends

Alright. Since it's written "Family", that makes it easier.
Ensure the annual or basic salary written on the i20 form is almost equal/same/above or slightly okay with the new statement of account - like, it's reasonable.
Until the VO asks (if he/she finds out) about the statement, don't talk 'plenty.' But why didn't you withdraw the statement since the person bailed out at the initial stage, even before you submitted your docs.
If you're asked to tell about your Sponsor, just mention who your Sponsor is (Since it's family, it could be your Dad, Mum, Aunt and co) and state what he/she does altogether. Very simple.

I really don’t think it should affect ... I think someone attended an interview but was told to refill DS 160 during fingerprinting and came back after an hour to take interviews..

Did you schedule your appointment this evening?
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by Molly90(f): 10:15pm On Nov 11, 2020
Thank you for this and the other information. The person bailed out when I asked for the updated bank statement while filling my visa DS 160. It's kinda late asking for another I20 from the school.

Alright. You've got nothing to worry about.
Just go with the one you have.
And secondly, hope the new one is not a Business account or a statement account that belongs to a business name. It's important you know this. I'm sure you're aware.

Lest i forget, while filling the DS-160, who did you mention as Sponsor?
And for trip payment, did you mention the person's name?

Penalty into throwing ... stick to the information on your DS 160, school on your I-20 form and the school code is what is on your SEVIS fee payment already .. these are the documents the VO will first request from you and any information that is not tallying with what you have on it could be disastrous o.

That was why i asked, 'what happened'? I think he booked an appointment without making proper arrangements first.

VO will be like : I can see you're applying to study Linguistics at Texas State University.

Applicant: hmmmm! No. California state university is the school.

You know this scenario is not going to be funny.

Please to the gurus, do they actually give people without full funding visas?
