If a state cannot generate enough resources to stand on its own, then they should find the next geographical neighbor and merge with... they can both agree on a sharing formula. Not try to feed off of what you do not contribute to thereby leading to laziness which has been the issues of the NORTH. What happened to the Groundnut pyramid in the North that was once used to feed Nigeria? Why did the North allow such an investment to deteriorate to a stage of not even being talked about anymore ?

I agree with VP Osinbayo. First time since Vice President Osinbayo assumed office in 2015 and said something that I can agree on. He is always on the wrong side of issues facing Nigeria, but this time he is right on the money.

What is restructuring Nigeria mean?
I hear those in support of re-structuring Nigeria referred to going back to region governments [Southeast, Southwest, North] Nigeria had after 1960 Independence. If that is what re-structuring means, you guys can kiss it good bye for many reasons.

First, regional government is oppressive regime. It has never worked anywhere in the word. It led to 1967 civil war in Nigeria—which killed over 1 million people. It concentrates wealth of regional government in the hands of few—leaving those at the bottoms to live on the handouts. In Nigeria, where tribes are in thousands, regional government oppressed smaller tribes. Taking Nigeria back to regional governments will never happen again.

Second, Regional government creates unstable leadership. It is about: Your tribe vs my tribe---and that means no peace. It works as a family business—only members eat. Jealousy and suspicion are the chief characteristics of regional government. It is dominated by factions and many times it leads to civil war. And it is centered on socialist economic policies—which destroyed old Soviet Unions and forced South American countries into economic collapse. Broadly speaking, regional government is a failure every where in the world. The fall of south and North Sudan and anarchy that emerged after it was divided into two countries served as deterrent to those Nigerians supporting re-structuring Nigeria.

Third, those in support of re-structuring Nigeria have one thing in mind: to steal oil money and leave oil communities poor. They do not know how to invest in new ways to create wealth for themselves. All they think about is how they can take control over the oil money.


But I have bad news for those in support of re-structuring Nigeria: year 2020 is not 1960. That means every state in Nigeria is independence from the central government and can take arms to defend their states.

They don't have the capability to persevere our political system. The system is entirely not balance.

The leaders representing the south haven't realized that they tend to gain more if we restructure. They are just self centered. What do they care as long as keep looting. Restructuring will limit billions of money disappearing. There will be total competition among them as positions will be limited. The cost of running this present system will drastically reduced. Evil leaders.


Please have you listen to what you are say let's tell ourselves the truth with Nigeria's cannot develop a country if we never got independence we will be like Canada New Zealand or Australia today. Rather we tell ourselves the true you can vote for 1 million Nigerians none of them will develop the country because they do not know how to.

How do you manage resource properly in a corrupt system. The way thing are now, anybody can loot and go free but when each region is responsible for it's resources such actions can easily be noticed and brought to justice.

Again looting of public fund will be to the detriment of your region..so competition will be there.


And I was here blaming buhari for being an illiterate...look at what a whole prof who has spent many yearsin the country is saying.

Even if Nigeria resources increase by 100 percent, it will still be wasted/looted. Take a look at money going into the welfare of political appointees.... A secondary school teacher's salary till retirement added together together not upto one month welfare allowance of some politicians. What do you call that if not mismanagement..and that can never stop b/c of corruption in the system.

In the UK I met a Nigerian professor at Nigerian community he was telling Nigerians to go and vote for a criminal because it is better we vote for a criminal done to vote for an outsider for ourselves this is what he was telling people Nigerians to do this is a Nigerian professor which came out of Oxford University.. what I have noticed Nigerian professors and doctors abroad are the most illiterate set of people in the world they come on TV telling there people to go and support criminals.

Managing our resources properly and providing for the people properly can be easily achieved by restructuring, Mr. Vice President.

What are you saying?

How can we manage our resources properly when Nigeria is heterogeneously disparaging? How can resources not be wasted when using a uniform template to draw up developmental plans in a country that is ethically proliferated with peculiar challenges?

We are not saying restructuring will solve all the problems in Nigeria. But it will definitely solve the fundamental problems facing the country.

20 new states and hundreds of local government areas proliferated in the north by northern soldiers have been drawing most of federal allocations since about 30 years.

The same roguish political structure made political class from core north Nigeria maintain a stranglehold on Nigeria.

Nah! He has a point. In common residents association there are many cases where the ExCO fail to account for monies contributed. If at small levels as that it is so difficult for znigrrians to manage themselves, what will change at State level. Trust me if Lagos has a budget of N10trln magically tomorrow, we will still see potholes, still see dirty streets and other basic things you would expect we should be able to resolve with 10fold money.

We are just poor thinkers and poor managers.

There is sense in what you have said. Recolonization will help us develop the country. We were too quick to have demanded for independence. The problem started when our people were given the chance to serve as unofficial and official members during the colonial period. That made them to know there is so much money in government which made them to urgently start agitating for self government.

How about we encourage those inviable states to merge with states that are viable, instead of encouraging inviable states with its unnecessary bureaucracies and accompanying wastes?
Imagine some folks collecting salaries as governors and DIShonorable members of inviable states; what a waste!

Your administration has been in power going to six years presently and yet your anti-corruption sloganeering and incompetence as a government have got Nigeria into more problems. There's no direction with your government. On top of that, one of the campaign promises of APC is what you and other members of your government, including your principal, have continued to deny. This is so bad. So bad.

But remember there will be life after your time in government. Posterity won't be fair to you or your principal if you guys don't turn the wheel of your poor governance around and serve the good people of Nigeria.
For the past 60 years we have tried and failed to do just this. This why I prefer mathematicians to Lawyers
