I have the luxury of not living in America and being directly impacted by his being unpresidntial and dog whistling racists and egging cops to violence against minorities so you can forgive him for not finding it funny! Though on the other hand i have the misfortune of being governed by buhari and being negatively affected by everything he does (or doesn't do), so on average who would you say is worse of? My vote is on me so I come here to mock trump's America for short periods so I can temporarily forget I live in buhari's Nigeria sad

Stacy Abrams didn't go around appealing to people and waiting for them to realize voter suppression was wrong, rather she formed a voting rights organization that made the registration of thousands of new voters possible.

I strongly believe we need to get into those spaces and create the change we want to see because let's be honest, it's not always an education problem, sometimes it's really just a lack of empathy and sympathy, other times it is people who aren't ready to give up on their privileges.
It is important that one sees a problem for what it is so let me try.

Human beings lack "empathy and sympathy" until it is educated into them. This makes it an education problem. Not being able to give up privilege is human nature, or, as we have evolved to become. It is in fact an error to think those with priviledge would give up the priviledge they have. Do you go call your hungry neighbour to come share your meal with you or don't you see your meal as priviledge? For centuries was it affirmed that The rich man are in a castle, The poor are at the gate, God made them high and lowly, And ordered their estate". As it was in the beginning so it is now until we educate ourselves otherwise.

Being able to give up priviledge is a thing one is educated to do. Able parents teach it to their children when they say "share with your siblings". We learn it in religion as Sadaqah and love your neighbour. If one is not taught, one tends to be aselfish gits who hugs priviledge to themselves without sharing.

To get priviledge shared is a battle, as we learn from every point in history where 'revolution' is used. The priviledged never share unless they are made to share is what history shows. Stacy Abrams knew this and did "go around appealing to people and waiting for them to realize voter suppression was wrong". She went to the people whose votes were being suppressed and educated them on how to remove the suppression. She taught those priviledging from the priviledge that their priviledge was wrong. And she taught how the priviledge should be properly counted as you'd see below where I have liberally italicized words that mean "educate", to me.

Fair Fight Action aims to make elections in Georgia and the rest of the U.S. more equitable by advocating for changes in voter registration laws that will increase the number of eligible voters. Their goals are to encourage voter turnout and to ensure that all votes are accurately counted. They also want to make absentee ballots more consistent. Abrams has stated she will, "...use my energies and my very loud voice to raise the money we need to train those across the country in our 20 battleground states...".

None of what she says she wants to do and has so successfully done could be done without education at its core.

fieryy:
The very fact that I have to educate people on why every human being deserves to be treated with respect, is quite problematic.
It is problematic teaching grown adults what they should have learnt at two years old but didn't especially if they think they've learnt enough. As you say, "we need to get into those spaces and create the change we want to see". BraniacX and I are figuring how to make money educating them which should hopefully ameliorate our discomfort.

Nicola Sturgeon: Donald Trump will face ‘accountability’ if evidence backs claims over golf course finances

Thursday November 12 2020, 5.00pm, The Times

https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/sturgeon-insists-trump-will-face-accountability-if-evidence-backs-claims-over-golf-course-finances-jd0z6x0fw

Nicola Sturgeon has said Donald Trump will face “due accountability” in Scotland if evidence emerges that his Scottish golf courses have been used for money laundering and fraud.

The first minister said she will not protect the “soon to be former president of the United States” from investigation by Scottish authorities if evidence of malpractice emerges when he becomes a private citizen.

Mr Trump has yet to concede defeat in the US election to Joe Biden, his Democratic party rival, whose victory has been recognised by a growing number of world leaders including Boris Johnson, the prime minister.

Patrick Harvie, the Scottish Green party leader, today repeated claims first aired in the Scottish parliament in February that Trump Turnberry and Trump Aberdeen have been linked to “money laundering”. When he first made the claims Eric Trump, the president’s son and director of his Scottish businesses, responded by describing them as “disgusting statements, made without any supporting evidence and having absolutely no basis in fact”.

Mr Harvie said today: “We need to protect Scotland’s good name from association with the toxic Trump brand . . . US evidence in congress has cited patterns of buying and selling that suggested money laundering, in particular in relation to the golf course in Scotland and Ireland.

“It is now reported that the Manhattan district attorney’s office is investigating the Trump Organisation’s inflation of assets and potential bank and insurance fraud.
“The Trump Organisation has been accused of repeatedly reporting fraudulent financial details to the US office of government ethics, while reporting different figures to UK regulators in respect of the Trump golf courses here in Scotland.

“The Scottish government is able to go to court and ask for an unexplained wealth order to start getting answers.”
Ms Sturgeon is an outspoken critic of the US president and stripped Mr Trump of his status as a Global Scot business ambassador during the 2016 election campaign over his threat to ban all Muslims from entering the US.

She told Mr Harvie: “Everybody is probably well aware of my views of the soon to be former president of the United States . . . so the idea that I would somehow seek to protect him from due accountability in Scotland I don’t think holds much water.

“In terms of unexplained wealth orders, decisions about that are not for ministers, they are for the Crown Office, and on matters like this the Crown Office operates independently of Scottish ministers.
“I’m sure if Patrick Harvie feels there is more information that can be provided, the Lord Advocate will do that.”

The Crown Office’s civil recovery unit acts on behalf of Scottish ministers and reports to the Lord Advocate, Scotland’s most senior law officer.
A spokesman for the Crown Office said: “Unexplained wealth orders are civil, not criminal, proceedings. As a matter of course we neither confirm nor deny whether civil recovery unit investigations are taking place.”

The Trump Organisation subsidiaries that operate the Scottish golf courses are heavily indebted to the parent company and have never made a profit.
Mr Trump’s opponents have speculated that he bought Turnberry with Russian money, but an investigation by The New York Times last month found “more mundane answers” in tax returns leaked to the newspaper.

The records show Mr Trump financed his spending spree through royalties from his television show The Apprentice, borrowing against his Trump Tower skyscraper in New York and shares from one of his real estate partnerships, The New York Times reported.

The Trump Organisation has been contacted for comment.

Eric Trump was scathing about Mr Harvie’s claims when they were first aired in Holyrood in February.
He said: “Mr Harvie’s disgusting statements, made without any supporting evidence and having absolutely no basis in fact, are reckless, irresponsible and unbecoming for a member of the Scottish Parliament.

“An irrelevant and spineless politician, Mr Harvie has long expressed deep-seated animus toward the Trump Organisation, its principals and its projects, making wildly inappropriate allegations to advance his own political agenda and gain attention.”

I strongly do not think a majority Gop Senate would be a problem for Biden once he clears out toxic trump. I see him getting between 6-10 Gops working with him and it would end up being like trump's packed courts throwing trump cases out but we'll see. Or not if Dems win both Georgias.

If I were him, not only would the fear of what might happen after I leave office stop me conceding to Biden, I'd order the military to keep me in office. Unfortunately he's not the president of the United Banana States!

The “soon to be former president of the United States” is such a catch for the Crown so they'll pursue this tenaciously besides the need to protect the Scottish brand from trump's toxicity.

Trumpanzee!

It takes a special type of gullible idiot to continue this stupid charade. With all the evidence of truth dropping around you and your idiotic chants of 'fraud fraud' evaporating right before your very eyes, you still have the effrontery to say fake news. You have no shame. Even if you crawled back into a hole right now, it will not be enough to compensate for this shame.

Fraudulent ballots......but the courts are throwing the cases out. Your lawyers are admitting in court under oath..... 'Errrmm, we are not saying there is fraud, just good faith errors'

Trump won...The evidence is coming in tomorrow...but the so-called evidence is not reaching the Courts to even help argue a case. It's been 10 days. It looks like this evidence is coming from Saturn.

Affidavits are being recanted. So called eye witnesses are admitting under oath that they 'were influenced'

Hand recounts and audits are underway all over and more votes are being awarded to Biden.

Whistleblowers are moon-walking back to their bunkers.

DHS now reporting election is safest in history.....completely shattering your dominion nonsense.

Everything....literally everything, is falling apart and you dare say fake news out loud.

This is not expression of free speech. This is criminal intent to deceive and active participation in the destabilization of world peace. You are no different from a terrorist. And anything said to you on this thread, you totally deserve for your incessant shameful display.

Blind bat!

It takes a special kind of evil to observe the health crisis ravaging the country and still keep clutching on to power, The Orange buffoon has said nothing about the increased COVID cases. His foolish supporters would rather see the country burn to the ground than show any decency. States like Utah (Red State) is running out of beds but these eediots still think this is about politics.

There is talk of 450k people dying by March. But vile Trump and his supporters don't care. All he is after is a safe landing after his disgraceful exit.
