Emmy2009: You should Google the governing body for lawyers in Canada. If you do need to go back to school in any way, call the school you're interested in and ask directly. Be careful of 2nd hand info on this board. Lastly, every job is clean, comfortable, and professional in Canada. Get rid of that nasty attitude if you want to come to Canada. I know bus drivers who touch money each year, a lawyer in naija can only dream of touching. 16 Likes |

In 2018, I was on this thread as a Nign Lawyer, excited about landing in Canada, it is 2020 and I am excited to proudly state that I have been called to the Ontario bar, now Dual-Qualified it took me two years to get licensed, It has taken some people more years and some people less. It is doable though stressful and expensive but it is worth it. Look for resources on, follow licensing pages like @naijalawyerincanada @dblacklawyer etc Join whatsapp support groups like FTLC Pre-assessment or facebook nca group. 1. Is it easy to get a law practicing job or a job relating to the legal profession in general in Canada. Nothing is easy to get, there are legal assistant, law clerk, court reporter, court clerk and many other alternative career paths you can apply for, check glassdoor, indeed.ca 2. I'm not really a do or die lawyer so I dont mind having another profession after schooling there as long as it's a clean, professional and comfortable job. Because of this, is it reasonable to just forget the law thing and start thinking of something else if possible? Yes, that is an option too, like I said earlier, there are many alternative career paths. Some people do a 1yr Paralegal Diploma, get licensed and start providing Legal services- this is allowed in Ontario where Paralegals are legal professionals. You can also get the Immigration Consultancy Diploma. 3. If 2 above is reasonable, what other options should I be opened to. The major point is to get a job in Canada, what sort of profession can someone easily get a job. Thanks for the replies
NaijaLawyerInCanada page has multiple posts of different alternative career paths. 28 Likes 6 Shares

Obanidavid: Hello, The decision not to do a covid test was mine though nobody asked for it at the airport. The only passengers I noticed that needed the result to board were those headed for Dubai. The only other thing they inquired was the arrive canada app. Download the app, fill and submit your info 24- 48 hours before departure. 12 Likes 8 Shares |
Hello guys. Please I need help. And I will appreciate any answers I can get. I'm a lawyer. Certified and trained in Nigeria for over 3 years now. I'm hoping to migrate to Canada and I'm prepping up to write the IELTS exams soon. I graduated with a 2.2 here in Nigeria in 2015 so I cant go for the full fledged masters because of that so I'm aiming for a diploma in something legal related in Canada and hopefully might upgrade to a masters in the future if I see the need to. I was wondering, hows it like migrating to Canada and practicing law there. MOST people I spoke to about the whole migrating thing adviced that's it's pretty difficult to get admission in a school in Canada if you dont go for a course which you already have a background on. So my questions are. 1. Is it easy to get a law practicing job or a job relating to the legal profession in general in Canada. 2. I'm not really a do or die lawyer so I dont mind having another profession after schooling there as long as it's a clean, professional and comfortable job. Because of this, is it reasonable to just forget the law thing and start thinking of something else if possible? 3. If 2 above is reasonable, what other options should I be opened to. Whispering: hi there, there is a "settling in canada" newcomers (all of Canada)group if you are yet to land. But you need to be in Ottawa and have a verifiable address (even if it is an airbnb) to be in the "Nigerians in ottawa" group Good choice. You will love it here in Ottawa. Massive supportive Nigerian population. If you decide to wait till you arrive send me a message and I will let an admin know so you can get an invite link. and then if you want we have a women's forum where you can get lots of information about helping your kids settle in, Nigerian food stuff/marketplace and cargoing stuff to and from Nigeria. Lol, They even share meat and yam tubers. 12 Likes 10 Shares |

Whoever is reading this, whatever your aspiration is, don't lose sight of it. Cos the sky is really the beginning here. When it's getting tough, I always remind myself of that little piece written on Ontario license plate and It says, "YOURS TO DISCOVER"! I'll share my story when the time comes! #victory is from God alone 20 Likes 3 Shares |

Please is there a WhatsApp group were people can easily communicate and share happenings in the application process? I am kind of in a confusing state while filling the CRS application. When I check if I am eligible, it says yes but when I fill I don't get a score and it doesn't show me the score either, rather it just says I'm ineligible and no longer in the pool. Could be I'm not filling the form correctly, please I need some assistance. quote author=19CannyMum post=91041595] To start with, I believe that to professionally work in history, strategic studies etc here, your English has to be impeccable. That is because these are analyst or research roles where you'll be writing reports. Like someone said, what is your current role? What work experience do you have in history and strategic studies? Lastly, the greatest disservice anybody can do themselves if they're considering relocating to Canada is belittling blue collar jobs. Such thinking can stress you unnecessarily. Post lastly, before you start giving yourself headache over job prospects, what is your forecasted CRS score? Because nowadays the journey of processing Canada immigration has passed matter of eagerness.
|
