Location: NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ondo is located at Off Ado Ekiti-Ikare Road, Ikare-Akoko, Ondo. This camp ground is where the 3 weeks NYSC Orientation Course takes place. It involves physical drills, lectures and training, and social activities intended to foster interactions among Corps members.

Management team: The following are the management team of NYSC Ondo Permanent Orientation Camp: The State Coordinator, Mrs. Grace Akpabio, Mr Oyebade Babatunde (AD PRS), Mr Suru John Henry (AD Deployment and Relocation), Mr. Ogunfidodo Adebowale (AD Inspection and Monitoring), Mrs. Fashola Adejoke (AD Corps Displine and Reward), Mr. Anabor Peter (Assistant Director), Mrs. Ehimwenma Itohan (AD SAED), Mr. Bankole Simeon (Head, Press and Public Relations Unit), Mr. Thompson Babatunde (Head, ICT), the list endless.

Best features: The camp ground features structures and facilities for swearing-in ceremony, paramilitary drills, accommodation rooms, lecture halls, open field for sports and assembly and many of such. There are military personnel who train Corps members on appropriate military ceremonial matching, sports, as well as Man-O-War physical drills. There is the large market operated by the locals popularly called "Mami Market" where all camp needs are sold, including food and drinks. Also, there are well equipped worship centres for both Christian and Muslim Corps members.

Other features: There is a friendly-OBS team in the camp led by the Public Relations Officer, Mr. Bankole Simeon in conjunction with other versatile members of the editorial staff. The Orientation Broadcasting Service, popularly called OBS, is the voice of NYSC. Like every radio station, it disseminates information and keeps Corps members in camp abreast of happenings and entertained them with other hilarious programmes.

Another feature is the topnotch Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme Corps members are exposed to. The Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development scheme is an initiative of the NYSC driven to aid corp members in obtaining necessary skills that will encourage them in turn to pursue entrepreneurship careers in order to reduce their possible time spent in the labour market in search of paid employment. The Ondo SAED is headed by Mrs. Itohan Ehimwenma.

What to bring: Before heading to NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ondo, here are some helpful things to take along with you: Your required documents such as Call-up letter, Statement of Result, Student ID Card, etc., passport photographs, waist pouch, white tees and shorts, cash, housing necessities, among other basic necessities to make your camping fun and inspiring.

My review: It is worthy of note to know that Orientation Camp is the best part of NYSC. Here, you meet people from all parts of the country and learn and accept local customs and different cultures, make new friends, build camaraderie and learn what to expect during your service year. All through your stay in the camp, except Sunday worship mornings, you will wear your all-white tees, shorts and shoes. You will be served meals three times daily but most Corps members prefer eating at the Mami Market where the choice and quality of food is better and preferable. There is always an activity for each time of the day, with brief moments in the evening allowed for personal use. Go to camp with an open mind and a thirst for adventure and you will enjoy it to the fullest. You can leave a message in the comment section for me in case you need more information about the camp.

18B, ikare akoko camp isn't in competition for the best nysc camp in the country, I doubt it could make the top 10 but it was okay, the state coordinator and camp commander made sure everything was in order.

Its fun to be in camp

Though the military officers incharge of parades and other rigorous exercises should be explained to, that these are only students not intending military officers, therefore should go easy on the exercise with them to avoid crisis

Some of them if not most lack the capability, strength and stamina to undergo military exercise
