You either call them african American or ppl of color. My sister, I don't live in the States, but I am not unaware of race issues therein. The crux of my argument is that they should be hired because they are qualified, not because they are qualified AND of colour. You argued along the lines of qualified blacks, but I am saying they should be treated equally and not specially. There is a movie I watched on Netflix (Something New) that highlighted this subtle racism which you alluded to in terms of loans, work environment, et al. Having also spent 12 years working abroad, these divisions are subtle, let us acknowledge them. You describe blacks as African Americans, Chinese as Asian Americans, Latinos as Latino Americans, while others are American Americans? Are they not ALL immigrants or children of immigrants? I don't know so much but I saw a significant drop in taxes and SSA deductions in my paychecks since Trump pushed the tax cut policy. If the deduction is just $20, then you might wanna check how much the person earns because it's PAYE. |
