Been following this thread for some time and I've learnt a lot and decided to get Fulani hens and noiler roosters to start breeding. Please I have some questions 1. When they start producing chicks do I need to vaccinate them the way broilers are vaccinated with gumboro, lasota etc.? If yes, which ones should be given? 2. I intend to scale it up to business, is there a need to get an incubator for hatching of eggs as time goes on? 3. What kind of feed will be good and economical for them and make them grow fast? Thank you |

Good day everyone @native chicken, if I may ask, do boiler x fullani do better than pure noiler? , or maybe your feeding parten is good, can you share how you feeding them? , do you free range of cage? . My pure noilers are in there 16 weeks now and the biggest rooster is just 2kg, their average weight is 1.7kg and the smallest is still 1.3kg, am free ranging, and feeding morning and evening, simulated feeds in the morning and kitchen waste in evening , sometimes I feed them waste fruit in afternoon if available.

GafarOlatunji: I really do not know abt Broiler x Fulani cross . I tried it without any success. The broiler male was too heavy to mate. Then on the other hand , i tried a female broiler, but their egg production was very poor. I dont know which one compares better; A purr Noiler or a cross. But i know dt a cross of Fulani male to Noiler female is better than Noiler male to Fulani female. I read a journal of an experiment done in University of Ilorin some years back. As per feeding, i feed starter for 6-8 weeks and then my own formula. |

NativeChicken:nice.my cross between white cockerel and Fulani hen offsprings came out small all ten of them even at 7 weeks they still look small....since I now have both huge male and female noiler I can now swap her eggs when she leaves her chicks and starts laying again..though the female noiler has been laying since Oct 5 till date ,I pray she doesn't stop laying anytime soon

Thanks for your response @nativechicken,i typeed error in the first post, what u want to say is noiler x fullani not broiler, I think to breed broiler one needs to get the parent stock @Keycino, at what age do your noiler start laying? |

I believe with the prevailing challenges with DOC price and feed price hike, we can go ahead and commerciallize these enterprise. Some people have argued that Noiler or Kuroiler farming is not profitable. Am begining to prove them wrong as my males get to 2kg in 8weeks and the female produce 4-6 eggs per week with food scraps and supplemented with locally formulated feed. Here are some of my breeding stock 2 Likes

Noiler is very profitable, and once they grow big, you can feed them almost anything, Infact I discovered giving them remaining food from kitchen makes them even grow faster. AND they lay eggs almost every 3-4 days. Hardly bought eggs from D market. And they can brood those same eggs if you leave it to them. I just keep taking the eggs till they get broody, last year I mixed the eggs with the ones from my turkeys, and they got hatched successfully. 1 Like |

Elsueno:surprised to know yours are going broody..I'd left 2 of her eggs and notice it was laid at different spot and that's not an attribute of a broody hen , since then HV been collecting d egg. Really tasty egg I must say just like that of a local hen. |

kaycino:Never tried any. I dont lke Cockerels, especially d white ones. They take too long and their weight gain is too poor. As for Noiler Male x Noiler Female, i do not know. I simply dont think its a good way to go , considering they are from same parent stock 1 Like |

My two noilers have been laying everyday. A male Noiler has been crossing them, my problem is that 8 don't know how or where to hatch them. I have about 20 eggs here |
Re: My Pet Project: Is It Economically Feasible To Rear Local Chickens Commercially? by Elsueno: 9:50am On Nov 20, 2020 |
kaycino: They do that at first, But will eventually start gathering it at same spot. Just keep reducing it, till it's around 10, Because, even if you left it, she can't hatch all of the eggs 1 Like |

@Redomi, I believeyou can build your incubator yourself, search Google for homemade incubator for idea , what egg needs is certain amount of heat to hatch . I have plan for building one for my production when my noilers start laying, they are 4 month plus now . |
