Artisanal miners aren't criminals by default. They're small scale miners which comprises most mining in Nigeria. Illegal miners are criminals because they mine without a license. Gossip and rumors are for the birds lets stick to facts that can be verified. Illegal mining hasnt been taken seriously hence why the government should do more to crack down on them like they do the oil bunkers. Get a license or go to jail plain and simple.

.

So can't there be "Artisanal Oil miners" too?
What is all this coloration of names?

Yeah there can be If that's what they're actually doing. If you're trying to drees up pipeline thieves aka as lawful oil drillers then no. They explore and drill oil if they get license like other lawful operators.

Well that includes the SS governors. I cant wait to see their suit. All they have to prove is they were denied the licenses to exploit what ever natural resource. Anything else will just be noise.

It is no noise, this is why you are seeing all manner of noise coming outta the Federal Government, CBN and the ministry.

The situation in zamfara is like
Mobil™, Total™, Oando™ etc, buying
refined fuel from those illegal Niger
Delts creek refineries & NNPC now
buys from them.

CBN under that crooked Emefiele will
do anything to please Buhari & the
North.

Lies there was an interview on channels backing up the claim

If artisans were given the right to mine same should be done in the oil sector

The way the gold in Zamfara is controlled now gives the governor an autonomy to control something that is exclusive to the federal gvt

There is something fishy about this article, how the gold is being controlled should be investigate and properly documented, the gvt has this knack for lying and covering up the truth.

There is constitution on ground but they don't follow it, same constitution that says citizens has right to protest and join organisation which gvt does not follow, same constitution that protects the right of her citizens but people's account are being illegally frozen by the CBN without proper court order before making such move, that is the same constitution CBN is quoting forgetting that they went against it at a point in time.

If it was not controlled by the state, Who controls the gold reserve? What has been the governors stand ever since he started the so called Zamfara gold reserve? How are the gold transacted?

There ways an interview on channels where it was stated the the CBN buy from the state but that one aside, if artisans are given the right to mine, same should be done in the oil sector, the only thing some states can boast of is oil and the only thing some states can boast if is gold the right thing should be done.

If Zamfara "artisanal miners" can be recognized and allowed to operate like legitimate business outfits, "oil bunkerers" in the Niger Delta should also be allowed to operate unhindered. . That means soldiers should stop shooting at local folks that are branded oil thieves for helping themselves with the resources found in their land... Folks from oil producing areas should start oil and gas exploration whenever they want without licenses and sell to NNPC?

Folks, this government is evil! You can see the kind of argeument being churned out to defend evil. Rather than implement the law, Buhari is shifting the goalpost once again! The biggest problem with Buhari is his inherent inability to call a spade a spade, whenever the culprits are from his tribe/zone/party, dude starts to speak in tongues! The man will rather run from pillar to post, Scanvenging for excuses, rather than allow the law take it's full course! Buhari and his likes should never have been anywhere near a presidential house!
Buhari of those days no go do like this.

Ok so they're supposed to stay silent while they're being slandered? Lol I'll maintain my opinion until they win at the supreme court. Right now the FG debunked the resource control argument since the government had to set up a company and get a license and the CBN didnt buy gold. If they have proof they were denied the right ti do the same actions they have a case. Until they submit it they're making noise.

Lol in essence get off your butt and take initiative. Zamfara got the license and took advantage of the program in mining like other could of done. Has anyone heard of the federal government denying any state license to do the same thing? If the ss governor have an issue the supreme court will always be there to settle it.

You don’t get it.
Why should the state apply to the federal government for license to explore and exploit mineral resources in its area?
Do the 36 states apply for license to grow crops and graze animals on the land due to the natural resources for agricultural purposes?
Do you now get it

This piece lacks coherence and cohesion. As much as attempt is being made to illuminate on the issue, it hasn’t broached the bone of contention.

It doesn’t capture the issue that led to the highbrow raised by Oil producing states. Will the government permit the same for Oil regions in Nigeria?

They are a confused bunch of liars obviously.

YES! For example, Lagos owns Ibile Oil & Gas, Bayelsa owns Bayelsa Oil Corporation, while Rivers owns 45% of OML 11.

If you dont believe that's fine. If you have proof they're lying about giving them a license submit it. If you have proof other states were denied unfairly submit it. If CBN bought gold prove it. The governors are free to file there suits to prove all this. We'll see if they beat the FG in this matter.

Until the constitution is amended it's going to remain that way whether you agree or disagree. Do you read article before typing out this comment?

Section 44(3) states "the entire property in and control of all minerals, mineral oils and natural gas in, under or upon any land in Nigeria or in, under or upon the territorial waters and the Exclusive Economic Zone of Nigeria, shall vest in the Government of the Federation and shall be managed in such manner as may be prescribed by the National Assembly."

We keep chasing shadows when the substantive issue is the Constitution (Section 44).

Nonetheless, state governments do not “grow crops or graze animals” - INDIVIDUALS/CORPORATIONS do!
Instead of moving control from the rent-seeking corrupt FG to rent-seeking even more corrupt state govts, move it to PRODUCERS!

That’s why I couldn’t be overly bothered about these resource control debates...
It’s essentially about moving stealing/corruption from Abuja to state capitals, and from one set of thieves to another.

Sadly, most Nigerians (leaders and the led) are obsessed about SHARING rather than PRODUCTION!

So, I want to understand..
It means that, it is whatever the Zamfara State Government Remits to the Federal Government Is What the Federal Government would take??
And out of this amount, the Federal Government pays Zamfara State their 13%??

Before I begin, let me state that I am from Edo state.

We mustn't blame anyone other than our leaders in the south for this.

Nothing stops oil producing states from setting up refineries to buy and process crude oil and then sell the refined products after which they remit royalty to FG. That's exactly what I believe Zamfara state has done. They applied for the relevant licenses to participate in the gold value chain.

Bottom line, southern states should position themselves anywhere they deem fit in the crude oil value chain and stop being passive stakeholders who just sit back and wait for allocation.

So instead of playing the victim, I believe we have something positive to learn from this unfolding episode.

Bloody liars. To know how insincere these crooks are, just ask one question: WHO MINED THE GOLD IN ZAMFARA, was it the FG or Zamfara govt?

It was the Zamfara govt that mined the gold. The Zamfara state was the facilitator.

But, who is drilling the oil in the Niger Delta? It is the FG! The FG is the facilitator. The States has no say.

Buhari regime is a BLOODY SCAM.

This is the picture of Zamfara Governor taking the gold Zamfara govt mined to Buhari. He went to show him how many KG they had mined. Zamfara was the facilitator of their own gold mining. Where is the picture of the Niger Delta Governors going to Abuja to show Buhari (FG) the audit of the crude oil that the Niger Delta Governors drilled by themselves? Show me the book keeping records that the Governors of Niger Delta went to show them in Abuja for the oil that they were able to drill INDEPENDENTLY in their own State and region. THERE IS NONE. Because the FG is the sole facilitator, the Niger Delta States has no say about how their oil is drilled or who is drilling the oil.

Buhari is the most NEPOTISTIC and TRIBALISTIC dictator in the history of Nigeria. Bloody hypocrite and dishonest regime. The Niger Delta Governors had better give them selves brain when they do their upcoming meeting.
