CzarChris: Forget about the Revitalization of the university as ASUU state it to be. Why did ASUU allow government to pay 30 billion for EAA and only 20 billion for Revitalization of University they use as blackmail. Not all of us reason along with ASUU line of reasoning. They are selfish, egocentric and callous. Tell me how many unions gets attention like ASUU in this country. By the time government is pushed to the wall and implement privatisation of University of force them to take pay cut or no salary for the months of absence, they will know that they also need to compromise some of their demands. 1 Like |

Ghostmode2two:everyone is selfish. Government, ASUU and the students. Students are only concerned about themselves (their academics) not minding if their lecturers are short-change, paid (eat) or not; now, tell me if that is not selfishness. . Some of the students are lecturers' children, now imagine such students crying for their father to resume when his father is yet to be paid the money that will be used for the child's school fees and feeding. We are all selfish. . The government is a cheat and a criminal, history has taught me never to trust them. 1 Like |

Gabbriell: Do government do everything students, teachers, artisans, masses etc want. why must ASUU always bent on getting everything they solicit for. People only talk about the way FG do not yield to their demands but not how ASUU too spoil university system with their attitudes that FG wish to use IPPIS to correct. Umemploment Half baked graduates These are few of what it will correct. 2 Likes |

oyatainer:I hope you have have been reading the news, ASUU rejected the ₦30b EAA and asked for the revitalization fund to be increased from ₦20b to ₦110b. If ASUU was selfish, they would have accepted the EAA and we will go back to business as usual. But ASUU is fighting for everybody, but the public seems not to see it that way. I believe ASUU should just accept the EAA and forget about the university revitalization. The public will suffer it more not ASUU. |

DropsMic: This OP is fooling himself! Instead of going to history of education decadents,he was so miopic that he proved himself as a mole,an agent of government with brown envelope! •Was it not U I,UNILAG and others that some African Countries came to receive tutorial, even in setting up their own Universities ? Why can't they be better now? •This OP was blinded as he could not prove to the Naira FORUM readers that the money ASUU was asking for couldn't be compared to Billions and Trillions of Political Campaign Funds being used illegally or stolen in most Parastatals of government of both the APC and PDP then! • For once,an objective writer should have shown the great infrastructural deficit in major Nigerian Public Universities as compared to those in other Universities in West Africa or even Africa( South Africa,Egypt-) as a whole! Do you know as at today,Ghana is charging American Dollars($) as School Fees to any African/ West African Students-no more Cedi- which is the original Currency! Funny enough,we still talk about West Africa Currency- rubbish and nonsense talk! •Why are Private Universities climbing to ascendancy if not that most of the government Officials are major patronizers having stolen so much of public funds.Anyway, the Ministers have no stake or any Children in our Public Universities! •The OP is a disaster and pretended that all is well with our Public Universities,in terms of Funding,Research and Development,Space Exploration,Engineering Medicine,Law Reforms System-For example,a case of over -10 years is still pending in an Appeal Court in Nigeria- just because a National Industrial Judge looked the other way in deciding a glaring injustice of dismissal of a Staff in a Company- the Staff Disciplinary Committee (-SDC) that a company established did not sat on the staff matter and because the MD of the Company and the inspector decided who should stay, yet other Staff still went through the SDC! while should you a Company allow some Staff to appear before -SDC and others not to appear, yet a High Court Judge jurisdiction couldn't summon enough courage to tell an Organization that'you are wrong in your method of punishment of Staff! A University is an academic institutions-to train, teach, research, mould the generation of youth, to become responsible but in Nigeria,we have constant political interference that are undermining the very existence of these institutions. When last have the Professor's gone on Sabbatical leave for them to be updated in their fields? Ah,the government wants to know how much the Varsity Teachers are earnings! Was it not the reasons why they are called the Ivory Towers-special in the first instance? The truth is that we are ALL in it! If Nigeria is good, the better for us and our children,we are all in it.In fact a time will come when America,UK,Europe and even Canada will chase the black home, like Covid-19,if care is not taken. God save Nigeria. 1 Like |

obami007: This is never one of their core objectives. ASUU is using the public as a shield to whip up public sentiment. If you want to argue, ask yourself, how do they manage the little internally generated revenue within the campus; it's just to further their ostentatious lifestyles. 1 Like |

oyatainer: Promise and fail is never a good thing. The goverment signed an agreement with ASUU..they should simply honour that agreement. About IPPIS..it's a good move to tackle corruption. But IPPIS alone cannot tackle corruption. Some staffs are being paid inconsistent salaries for no good reason..FG have to fixed that. My only problem with ASUU is why they decide to go on a strike at a time like this (COVID-19 palava) when the country is struggling. Its a really bad decision because times like this, it will be hard for the FG to caugh out money anyhow. I really hope both parties can come together as one...think as one and move this country forward. This Tom and Jerry attitude is never a good thong. It is disgraceful |

Enough is enough!! Two wrong does not make a right!! ASUU should go back to class. This is not ASUU fight alone, it is the fight of everybody because no system (not just the university) is working!! The university, polytechnic, college of education, security, agriculture, transportation, water, electricity and so on. None is working? It is beyond ASUU fight!! 1 Like |

9jatriot:you sound as if ASUU just go on strike for no just cause. Is it not crazy that on organisation just decide to strike for no reason? If this is true, then the government have no reason meeting inconclusively with them weekly. . Outsource standby lecturers, and the government will not owe them, maybe they will be doing humanitarian services. Thesame government you guys continually lambasted has finally become saint because of ASUU? If you guys trust the government that much why continue the endsars protest even while it have been disbanded? Hypocrisy and acute selfishness is a general attitude of every Nigeria students. |

CzarChris: ASUU is not fighting for everybody but themselves. ASUU wants the #30 billion naira FG offered them alone not minding others in the university system. let's wait and see who wins. If I happens to be the president, they will cry tire. I will sponsor no work no pay in the legislature and allow them to go on strike. Had it been it is that feasible to release the Revitalization funds, Jonathan would have done it since considering his generosity, his familiarity with academic and buoyancy of economy back then. Yet we know how many time ASUU resorted to strike during his regime. 1 Like |

Are you on strike because you have not been paid salary? Is that the new lie? Is FG owing you salary, are you guys not going to be paid for the months you are on strike. Banks, private and many oil and gas companies uses these contract model and they will not be owed. The foolishness of those who continued their protest after FG agreed to their demands are now glaring for all to see. Heightened insecurity and businesses of ordinary citizens ruined are not far from us. You guys should go and work in a bank and try going on strike for even one day and see if you will still have a job. NOwazobia: 1 Like |

Skynet45:This writer Is Obviously Govt sponsored. You think ASUU enjoys going on strike? ASUU embarks on strike as a last resort. You can't beat a child and tell the child not cry. Infact it is very selfish and unfair for anyone ( Parent or student) to be accusing and calling out ASUU for being selfish and embarking on strike while you are doing the same thing- just looking out for your own interest without minding how the teachers feel. You can't tell me that if you were earning 100k and you were expecting an increase in your salary and all of sudden your employer starts playing you 80k because he is now using a new platform for payment. I am sure you will be very happy and will clap for that employer. Before you condemn anyone put yourself in their shoes. I just gave an illustration above of one of the reason why ASUU is on strike. |
