Its time for ND to push for resource control. The explanation is trash trash trash. Advertise the license and sell it officially, FG go into partnership with Mining companies as it's do for oil and gas. Sell the gold and 13% derivation goes to the state. Any other thing is short of standard practice. 1 Like |

Blue3k:Has the Federal Government granted artisans(individuals) in the Niger Delta to be mining oil and gas with the South-South states buying the mined oil and gas from the artisans as presently obtainable in the North? Artisans that are presently mining oil in the Niger Delta are been tagged "oil bunkers" and "illegal refinery operators", while their counterparts in Zamfara State are been organised into a so-called "cooperative" by the Federal Government under Buhari as they mine their resources on their own. The Northerners have taken us for granted for too long, and one day we Niger Deltans will resist all these cheating to protect our resources even if it means armed fight. 1 Like |

Rugaria: 1) Are mining and bunkery' the same? 2) There are Indigenes of Niger Delta (sometimes in collaboration with their State Governments) that have license for oil exploration. 3) Artisinal miners operate in ALL States where valuable minerals can be found and the business is centuries old. |

Commonsense99: You don't know much about the processes of crude Oil exploration and extraction, otherwise you ought to have known that damaging a pipeline carrying crude oil (drilled, extracted and already bought by oil companies) is different from digging the ground for 15- 20 meters, looking for shining pieces of stones that may or may not turn out to be gold upon purification. It's practically impossible for the Federal Government to monitor the whole of this country looking for who is digging the ground. This is why I am in support of resources control by each State. States are closer to their people and are in better positions to Know who is digging in certain areas. Artisinal miners are in Kogi Enugu, Anambra, Osun, Plateau, Kano, Oyo, Ondo, Taraba and indeed anywhere where they can see precious stones. |

infohenry:Good. This newspiece says they used to sell the gold to bandits before the state organized them. Now imagine oil bunkerers mining oil illegally and selling to Niger delta militants. What manner of animal do you think would have been unleashed by the FG to dance or smile at them? That is beside the fact that if the Zamfara govt knew that the proceeds from the gold will go to the Fed account, I can assure you they will not go near this thing they are doing because it will be a net loss for them. The calculations show it so |

Atlas9: You guys should read before making this false arguments. They already debunked Zamfara controlling minerals. They applied for a license and were granted by the FG. Its up to you to prove the SS governors denied same type of licenses. If you have a challenge to it to the Supreme court. onyechez: The civil war started on January 15th 1966, when Military Officers from a certain tribe decided to wipe away all the senior military officers and most senior political officers from other tribes including the Prime Minister and regional leaders. They preserved the Military Officers and top politicians from their own tribes. That was the beginning of the war and we know who fired the first shots on that Friday night. July 1967 was erroneously believed to be the beginning of the war. |

Blue3k: What manner of insolence is dis? How exactly does this prove the legality or otherwise of zamfara gold mining? Or do you mean the artisanal miners who were selling to bandits were returning profits to the federation account? This is cheap ignorance!! You're just clutching at straws. |
Re: Ministry Of Mines Denies Claims Of CBN Buying Gold From Zamfara State Government by Blue3k(m): 8:46pm On Nov 17, 2020 |
Agbegbaorogboye: Lol stop asking dumb questions. The article clearly states the company received a license to mine gold in Zamfara making them legal. Not all mining is illegal mining either. If you cant distinguish between legal and illegal miners you have no business discussing the topic. It's cear you're very ignorant about the topic dont have the sense to stay quite or enlighten yourself.

Blue3k: Lol. You're sounding very confused. What company is called "local artisanal miners"? What's their registration code with CAC and where are their remittances with FIRS? I already told you that you're clutching at straws. Go back and read the op you posted and see the crux of the matter. Zamfara state converted illegal miners to legal miners by fiat and went ahead to sell the gold to the CBN as its own. You're bringing up a report of mining activities that covered 2015 to 2018 to justify 2020 activities. Thought you said states make remittances into the federation account. I wonder who you think you're deceiving. FYI, that your article clearly shows that over 80% mining activities is in the SW where limestone is mined by cement manufacturers. You have deceived no one but yourself!! |
