Please, be careful when making a transaction at a POS terminal. Some POS agents can send your ATM card details to fraudsters.

• HOW IT IS BEING DONE

When you go to a POS terminal to make a transaction, he/she will collect your ATM card and slot it into an ATM machine. After few seconds, he/she will tell you that the POS machine is malfunctional (i.e not working properly). He/She will tell you that you should wait while he/she bring another POS machine inside.

When he/she goes inside, your ATM card will be snapped (including the surface and below) with a smartphone. He/She will surely come out with another POS machine, but you will not know that your ATM card had been snapped and sent to fraudsters! The fraudsters will now use your ATM card details and make transactions online!

well truth be told the possibiliity of this happening to you is slim because when banks issue POS to businesses, these POS are queried with SQL programs to detect all the shops a compromised card has been and when they see that many compromised cards have been used at one particular shop, BOOM they go in their and take their POS back and arrest the person and so a fraudulent person can only use a POS for a short time before they are caught and the POS seized

on a side note those fraudulent indians in the UK have placed mirrors strategically on the ceiling above where you will type your PIN in the POS so they will just clone your card on the spot and now they have the PIN and they will take it to india to go and empty your acccount

True and besides banks know your patterns ...what you purchase and your spending range any item not really commonly purchased by you will not go through. It’s like profiling they monitor your habits.

Also the address has to match the one on file and don’t forget your phone puts you at a particular place at a time so when disputing charges it is easy to return to the scene of the crime and have evidence that this is where it occurred. Lastly choose Standard Chartered they don’t play that.

Stay there and be forming woke. The best advice for you is that you keep your card details safe. You don't want to learn the hard way

I used to think like this too, untill a colleague was robbed of her phone and bag. In the bag contained her ATM card and work id card. She couldn't block her account her account on time on that night of the robbery. The following morning she went to her bank to block her account and requested for her statement of account. The statement of her account showed that the last 16k in her account had been used to purchase something online by the robbers. So, here you can see that money can be taken from your account without your pin.

Let me give you a tip, group them in 4's. It's easier that way. I carry my NIN, my bvn , my passport Num, driving license number & account numbers in my head. He who says it cannot be done should keep quiet when someone shows it can be done. Take courses in Numerical Analysis and let's see if you still think this impossible.

I remembered when I renewed my WordPress subscription for my website, after entering my card details I was expecting an OTP from by bank but was shocked that I was debited immediately.

There are some online payment platforms that does not require your atm pin or otp in order to effect online transaction.

Don't die of ignorance. OP is telling you the truth. Card number, expiry date and CVV3 is all I need in your ATM to host a website from some internet service provider in Newzealand, Switzerland, etc. I will even set it at auto renewal.

Lol, I’ve scrapped my CCV number out of my atm card. In fact, I used hot knife to melt that area and smoothen it back ( it cleaned all the numbers off) But I have a digital record of it in my google drive and in my head.

I’m thinking of doing the same with my date of expiration lol.

OTP is not important. Like now, adding your card details to PayPal account, and making transaction online with it. They usually don't send me any OTP.

Once I login my PayPal account and pay through them, the transaction usually go through without my bank sending me any OTP request cuz to them it is the owner that added it even if it is another person.

OTP would have been better but they hardly do that.

When I want to make online transactions I enable it and when I'm done I deactivate it immediately.
My card was compromised, but don't want to apply for another cause it will expire in December
