Once paid for a hotel room in Dubai while I was still in Nigeria, all they needed was my card no and the number at the back of my atm and the money was removed from my account without having to input my pin.

Fraudsters this days don't need ur pin or otp.
The only information they need is ur card details especially that 3 digit number at d back of ur card which is more important in there fraudulent act.

I own a data website and observe that these fraudsters fund their wallet with atm cards through my payment gateway and what they normally ordered for is mtn vtu


Immediately i discovered the guy is a fraudster, i blacklisted the card and delete his account on my site, the guy opened another account and uses another atm... I had to deactivate the vtu platform on my site because the more i blacklist, the more they use another atm card...

I just told the guy when he messaged me that he should make payment to my bank account and that i will fund his account manually

J think that is what happened to a friend last year, after using pos in the afternoon, around 1 am he started receiving alert. The next day bank said it was online transaction and they can't trace it...

That is not correct sir. They may not need your pin to do online business on some sites. All that is needed is the card digits and the CCV number at the back of the card. Be careful with your cards.

I was like how did they do it?

verve and master card which is used in foreign transaction.

Verve is mostly for Local transactions. It is more of Nigerian thing.

Visa can be used both locally and internationally.

Master is just like Visa and is widely accepted around the globe


Though the 3 Cards have their individual advantages and disadvantages.

Deliberately enter a wrong pin like four times. It will lock but u will have to visit the bank in person to unlock it. I do it with first bank and fidelity.

Have tried registering PayPal and it said it isn't in my country yet. So if u r a Nigerian residence in Nigeria and owns a PayPal account then u r a fraudster.
First before u use any debit card on any site for transactions, they will verify whether u r the owner of the card. Ur bank will send otp to ur phone for security check, once this is done some sites won't bother u with this anymore.

The 3 digit on the back of the card is more important than the pin. It is your digital signature. If that is compromised, your funds are gone. Those people saying it is not possible, should try to order items on foreign sites. Some may send verification code to your phone number but who says, your phone number could not be cloned if you have enough fund in your account that is worth the trouble. Imagine paying subscription for porn that you did not watch, that is mild. It could be worse.
Most of these cyber criminals are smart people, smart in the wrong way.
Protect your card, when you want to pay with card, be aware of the angle of the camera if there is any. There has been instances where details of the front and back details of some people's bank card are captured on the camera. If the fund is worth it, they don't stop at nothing.

When you go to a POS terminal to make a transaction, he/she will collect your ATM card and slot it into an ATM machine. After few seconds, he/she will tell you that the POS machine is malfunctional (i.e not working properly). He/She will tell you that you should wait while he/she bring another POS machine inside.

When he/she goes inside, your ATM card will be snapped (including the surface and below) with a smartphone. He/She will surely come out with another POS machine, but you will not know that your ATM card had been snapped and sent to fraudsters! The fraudsters will now use your ATM card details and make transactions online!

exactly, this thing had happened to me before, I was scared like sh*t. But I think those internationally reputed companies have partnerships with several financial institutions, that is why they are able to do that

It's a lie. Your CARD are useless without the Card PIN, and you should seek to always protect your PIN and not your card visible details. Why don't a scammer wipe off your money when they pick your wallet, or when bankers who are Scammers wipe off your cash.
