Otp is not even necessary to make online transaction, I've been making payment on e-commerce sites without otp being sent to my phone, I don't know why banks allow it to be like that, maybe because they trust those sites.

Years back, I ordered refurbished common rail injection units for a truck I owned back then from the UK. They sent me an invoice. I asked how to pay, all they said was to provide them with my card number and expiry date. I had not finished calling the number over the phone when debit alert entered.
I was like how did they do it?
Meanwhile I was here in Lagos oh.

Sometimes they don’t need your pin. Believe me . It’s always that last 4 digits of your ATM CARD AND THE three figures at the back.

You don't even need an OTP/Pin to make a payment with most international sites sef. Have you ever wondered why the bvn scammers demand you card pin, expiry date, and Security only? For an experiment, create an account on Namecheap, try to fund it with your card and see. Pls help educate people around you that there is something called CARD NOT PRESENT transactions.

I have read lots of argument and submission on this topic. With my experience in banking and transacting across the globe.Your account can be debited online without PIN or OTP just by quoting the PAN numbers(16digits in front) and Security(3 digits) not concealed at the back panel of the card.

However it is impossible if you had visited the bank or through a secure channel to set up your ATM card linked to your account to request for OTP and PIN (preferably OTP) for online transactions. With that properly set up,no system can take money out of your account without this 2FA authorization.

Verve cards are limited to Nigeria and as such demand OTP everytime. But Visa and Mastercard are used worldwide and some countries have no law concerning Otp and pin before transactions are done. The čVV at the back is used to process it and it is assumed that whoever provides it has the card too and is the owner. Read the terms and condition booklet in your card envelope.

I'll rather go and queue at the ATM than use it to withraw from POS. It's only good for paying in imo. not really. If your card is enabled for online transactions no matter what card provider, there will be marketplace online to apply it on. You are partly right because most banks don't activate their verve card for online transactions.

not really. If your card is enabled for online transactions no matter what card provider, there will be marketplace online to apply it on. You are partly right because most banks don't activate their verve card for online transactions,until such customer requests for activation

Bruh thats not true, some one stole my friends atm card at our hostel, after a day the next thing was started seeing alerts of the atm being used to shop on aliexpress. He ended up loosing 7k. I am still suprised by ths even created a thread here on nl to confirm the possibility of the and many aliexpress shoppers confirmed to me it is possible.

Best safety is to have ATM account. That is a bank account you will used to make atm or Pos withdrawal and you will not keep substantial amount or your life savings in the account.

Once fraudster get hold of ur card number and that 3digit number at the back of atm card, getting your pin is small case.

I do not even bother collecting an atm card for my online transactions, i simply opened a batter account and use their virtual card, i only fund the account only when i wanted to make an online transaction.

I am a financial consultant. Please stop misleading people. There are many ways fraudsters can steal Money from your accounts without your physical cards and pin.

It is a also important to know that the simplest thing for fraudsters to have access to is your ATM pin. For your information, POS can be enhanced to capture your pin without knowing.Nigerians are losing.millions to these fraudsters.

I never thought you could use Verve card to buy stuffs from sites like jumia and olist, I have always thought only Master card or Visa can complete any such online transaction.

you are not smart in cyber matters.... ordinary sim card you used that is linked to your bank account can be used to withdraw all what you call money in your account amd straight away you run mad when seeing differrent debit alerts, however your atm card is fully with you... sit down there... every day these fraudsters are racking there brains to uncover means to defraud...

One thing i noticed about the few strongly supporting the otp/pin notification is that they are actually fraudsters who are against their trick being dymistified, and as such trying to derailed the thread.
