Even if Telles flops and Reguillon becomes the second coming of Roberto Carlos, it still won't change that fact that it's a bad deal. The term contenders, in most competitons, is used for squads that have the firepower to win it.

Like in a world cup, you'll say Brazil, Germany, France are contenders. Because the gap was wide does not mean or because France won every team on the way to the title, for example, does not make Germany less of a contender. But I get the point.
