Acjohn: This policy will not affect innoson negatively. Anyone in doubt should explain why they think this policy will affect IVM. Innoson does not manufacture second hand motors but new ones. How many people from other regions even patronise IVM? I can tell you if Innoson can produce a low budget cars for Nigerians, people will leave the tokunbor and buy his brand. IVM is competing with other world known brands in terms of price. How does he think he will succeed? Innoson needs to start thinking like the Chinese if he wants to dominate Nigeria not southeast 6 Likes 1 Share |

ethicallyright: The problem is innoson is aiming for the high taste consumer brand which is not good for him as a startup. He needs to build his business from the bottom up not the other way round. He needs to produce affordable vehicles for middle and low income consumers, then once he gains the control of the market, he can start incorporating those high priced machines. The fact is he does not have brand yet in Nigeria. How many of Nigerian car consumers can compare innoson with other brands they are used to when making their purchasing decision? 3 Likes |

For instance in akwaibom, from uyo to oron is a distance of less than 1hr or 1hr Max. Normally the fare suppose to be 300 then, but it climb to 450 cos of union at the park, police check points. There r more than 6 checkpoints before u reach uyo if coming from oron. Each checkpoint every driver must pay 50naira, multiply this by 6 u have 300. He buys fuel, the union at the park will get their loading fee, security fee etc every trip, u carry Max 6passengers, by the time u deduct all these levies both legal and illegal u r left with little or nothing for urself. If u r on hire purchase, imagine what u will become at the end of the day. All these factors determine the prices of goods and services. If they really want to address transportation cost, look into these illegal levies In states. 1 Like |

ethicallyright: That is the exact thing our wicked government should have done with rice and other banned essential product before locking the border in the south and force southerners to consume the rubbishes produced in the north at higher prices. If any northers was in the business of automobile assembling as you called it, would this government ever make this move? It is absolutely obvious how wicked they are. 1 Like |

Na car we go chop? Bag of rice rose from 9,000 naira to about 35,000 naira in the five years of this government. One sachet of tomatoe paste is now 150 naira from 50 naira in Port Harcourt. Open the borders and let food come in. It will bring down the price of every food items and the low income earners can cope. 1 Like |

Rugaria: Abeg let them bring and dump the tokunbo cars on us in Nigeria, it will help many businesses that are struggling with high costs of transportation. This will drive business and commercial activities in the country. A car owner will always find a way to survive no matter how harsh the economic situation in the country is. 4 Likes |

To be honest. This is long overdue. Most Nigerians prefer tokunbo to these things innosson is producing-which is expensive. How will I have 22million and buy that gwagon copy when the good original tokunbo is around that price. Dem swear for me? So tey camry come dey expensive. The truth is, toyota, benz, bmw etc are way ahead. Competing with them is a looser strategy. But every car manufacturer have a niche which when pursued will be profitable. Tata in india tried it and understand, so they bought a piece of land rover instead of competing. Hyundai and Kia focus on thier focus-they are making money. Innosson is making money selling trucks for awa police and army. Innosson can focus on keke and minivan, minitruck, pickups and buses, which the government and keep patronising. Imagine innosson producing this type of HIJET minitruck at say N700k brand new? Won't people prefer it if it's reliable? And for God's sake if someone has money let him buy whatever type of car he/she wants. Good policy reversal abeg! Now I can focus on more Hussle to buy an E63 AMG like a real niggar 6 Likes |

I like this. Focus on power supply and a clear and solid business Foundation. This is a small step but this also means even more traffic. So road maintenance and even more roads and other forms of transportation. |
