Imagine how this edifice would have changed the Skyline of Onitsha and Awka.. I am not in support of building edifice like this in Rural areas.. [/quote]

Development is not concentrated in only in few cities in USA where Dr Godwin Maduka lives. His own village can be made even better than awka. A sick person that goes to receive treatment in a town like Onitsha will get worse.

This is our problem.... We think development is a sporadically somethings that just happens without planning and foresight. I don't have time to engage with a shortsighted person and an unexposed local champ.

Maduka may actually be a little crazy. First Skyscraper in village now universities in 21 local governments. I hope PDP will not make mistake and will choose someone of sound mind and experience.

Anambra 2021: I’ll build 21 universities if elected governor – Maduka
22nd November 2020
in Politics

Obinna Odogwu, Awka

A United States of America-based medical doctor aspiring to be governor of Anambra State next year, Dr Godwin Maduka, at the weekend, said that he plans to build 21 universities in the state if given the opportunity to serve.

Maduka, who is aspiring for the top job on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said that if elected governor, he was going to establish higher institutions of learning so that Ndi Anambra could have greater access to university education.

The governorship hopeful stated this in his Umuchukwu country home in Orumba South LGA during a programme he organized for the youths of the state.

“If given the opportunity, I will build one university each in all the 21 Local Government Areas of the state. Education is key all over the world. We shouldn’t have a few scattered universities here. It is not that hard to set it up.

“In other places of the earth, some towns have up to six universities. It should be as easy as ABC. We will start with only 21; one per local government.

Asked how was going to fund them if that were to be, he queried: “Do you ever know what comes to the governor’s house in terms of funding? Any frugal governor can take care of that. There are some things that we can let go.

“And there are some things that we can bring in. It is a matter of priorities. There should be a new negotiation about funding education. After all, that’s why I am here now.”

Controversies trail N181b loan, N25b bond in Anambra govt
By Osiberoha Osibe, Awka
19 November 2020 | 4:08 am

Controversies are trailing reported rejection of N181 billion loan requests from three banks aimed at tackling infrastructure development in Anambra State, in addition to raising N25 billion bond from the Debt Management Office/Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and Economic Planning for failed federal roads in the state, which the state has rehabilitated or reconstructed.

The said loan comprised N150 billion for roads, N15 billion for provision of water in Onitsha, Nnewi and Awka, and N16 billion for the controversial International Cargo and Passenger Airport at Umueri in Anambra East Local Council.

The reported loan request is coming on the heels of denial by the state government that it had not secured a kobo in form of loan from any bank or financial institution to execute some projects in the state, including the airport project.

The state’s Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, C. Don Adinuba, in a statement debunking the insinuation, a copy of which was made available to The Guardian, said that “the state government furtively raised a N25 billion bond from the Debt Management Office/Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and Economic Planning for failed federal roads in the state, which the state has rehabilitated or reconstructed.

Adinuba, who punctured Ubah’s emphasis that the bond was approved without the knowledge of the National Assembly, said: “Before a bond can be issued for a state government in Nigeria, the state House of Assembly, the Debt Management Office, the Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Securities and Exchange Commission must be involved. The Anambra State government has not raised any money under a bond or any financial instrument from any institution or organisation.

“It is tough to speculate how Ubah came about the phantom N25 billion bond. The only thing that any individual can possibly think about is the promissory notes, which the state government received in two tranches from the Debt Management Office/Federal Ministry of Finance for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of failed federal roads in the state.

“The promissory notes were never secret. The reimbursement was recommended by the Senate after a public hearing on debts owed the state for rehabilitation and reconstruction of roads. Given the fact that the Federal Ministry of Finance did not have cash to settle the debts, it opted for promissory notes.

“The amounts and proceeds of the promissory notes are captured clearly in the Report of the Accountant General with Financial Statements for the year ended December 31, 2019. Even the purposes to which the funds are deployed are stated clearly in the yearly report.”

It's not bad to build universities in every local government of the state. As he mentioned, in developed countries a town can have up to 6. However, it should be top standard institutions, not just building to make up numbers. Also, it should be part of a wider development plan.

He has lost me as a supporter. His clinic only makes him a millionaire not even a billionaire so how will he run the state with his money? Is his building in umuchuku as sophisticated as Nestoil building in VI or ABC Orjiakos building on Banana Island. Does he have the wealth of Innoson or Coscharis or Ibeto?

Let's hope PDP finds a better candidate.

Anambra government can barely fund Anambra State University with its threadbare libraries and labs so how will he build 21 universities? The USA has hundreds of PRIVATE universities and a few state owned ones. Universities are NOT CHEAP.

WE know Soludos blueprint. Industrialization. He is an economist so he will fix the cities. Or maybe he lines his pocket like at the CBN. PDP will be looking for a candidate with charisma to compete. Maduka is already sounding like he does not know anything about government.

I'm tired of all the misquoting. He didn't explicitly say he is going to build universities in every part of anambra. According to him, he is going to ensure that all towns in anambra has at least a branch of the universities in anambra( I.e., like campuses in every town). This would help bring education to the people and also increase economic activities in the town.
I Dont see anything bad in his manifesto and he seems logically able to fulfill these promise.

SO PLEASE STOP ALL THE CASTIGATING.
I believe he is the best candidate currently.

Well I have seen all the permutations and combination and clearly the outcome is just two.
It time for the woman with 9 life to rule the light of the Nation. She has all the cards to the awka government house.
Between her senator olujimi I don't know any woman who can match the men.

Innoson confirms winning 11 oil wells in Sierra Leone

By Moses Akaigwe

IVM Innoson Group of Companies has confirmed the award of 11 offshore oil wells to the newest member of the conglomerate, Innoson Oil & Gas Limited, by the government of Sierra Leone during a highly competitive bid process that featured other companies from different countries, including Nigeria.

A close aide of Dr. Innocent Chukwuma, the IVM Innoson Group Chairman, informed Daily Sun that Innoson Oil & Gas team of experts in the industry had months ago presented a bid that was technically impressive and was warmly acknowledged by the authorities in Sierra Leone.

During the lincensing round, Innoson Oil & Gas was provisionally awarded offshore blocks 96, 97, 114, 115, 116, 117, 133, 134 and 135, while 15 went to Cluff Energy Africa, a joint venture between British oil tycoon, Algy Cluff and billionaire, Michael Spencer.
“I believe they must have also looked at our trajectory of growth and achievements, from a small trading firm, to the first indigenous manufacturer of motorcycles and automobiles, with interests in many other sectors of the economy,” the top manager in the group said. He further disclosed that a couple of big Nigerian oil and gas companies operating locally and abroad, participated in the bid exercise in Sierra Leone.

An officially statement from the Sierra Leonean Presidency announcing Innoson and Cluff Energy as the successful bidders, stated that there were a total of six applications for offshore concessions in the round, which was opened two years earlier.

It also stated that Sierra Leone carried out a detailed assessment of companies whose applications were shortlisted, particularly their capacity to operate in the local environment and commitment to local content.

With the successful berthing on the oil and gas industry, Innoson has further expanded the group’s areas of operation which currently includes automobile, motorcycle, plastics, tyres and tubes, wood processing and others.

I love this! I've always argued we shouldn't limit ourselves to just Nigeria.....blue-chip coys like INNOSON, Ibeto, NESTOIL, OILSERV, etc, should expand their operations and become true multinational coys and int'l players like say Coca-Cola and Apple. This way they can insulate themselves from the vagaries of the Nigerian business environment.

Problem is, i heard on a news report that NNPC is aware of those thieves stealing Anambra oil, so let's just say the oil coy has 'support' for their illegal activities in the state!
