babasolution: I agree, we shouldn't copy their nonesense culture but we can copy some of their developmental models, doesn't even have to be exact. Simple things like planting trees etc. Lagos is overly focused on and that shouldn't be the case. |

Akinola100:our cities lack organization, why can't our roads be marked, with installed functioning traffic lights, covered drainage? and most Nigerians are so dumb on how to dispose dirt properly, both the government , citizens and contractors have failed. it's not about Apc/pdp it's just doing the right thing. in this part of the world, we have got it all wrong... 1 Like |

PhiliptheArab: Is it not from what you earn that you pay taxes ? If you expect me to pay N100,000 in monthly taxes, ask yourself what is my monthly income ? Is it in Nigeria where business people hardly average N100,000 a month that you are expecting someone to pay taxes ? Useless arguments. Even if I earn N500,000 in an oil job, does Nigeria deserve N100k/month of my taxes, when I'm just one person in a percentage of one to 100,000 poor Nigerians ? I better spend my money on relatives than on political thieves who cannot manage resources effectively. That countries are rich does not mean they have excess resources, they only manage what they have very efficiently. The richest people I know are the most miserly, Nigerian politicians are very wicked. Visit Imo state, they are either building statues with public funds or demolishing govt buildings and structures. Are they they the people we should pay taxes to, when I know how hard I discipline myself in managing my resources ? 2 Likes 1 Share |

PhiliptheArab: How many Nigerians earn 70 thousand naira per month that u expect them to pay council tax of 150 pounds. Besides a lot of countries with low wages have beautiful urban landscape. It has nothing to do with tax, it's the mindset of our leaders and possibly the followers. |

PhiliptheArab: What money is Governor Umahi using to change the face of Ebonyi state ? Just as people have a degree in management, likewise do CEOs get experience in managing companies and individuals. The people in government are doing the wrong thing. People with zero experience of economic development want to lead at all cost. |

Grgton: People's orientation needs to change positively. For example, if they say keep cities clean by not disposing rubbish on the streets, People haven't stopped till now, they make it worse by dumping it in drainages causing floods during rainy season later complaining and blaming government for not doing well. If people in Dubai do this, do you think it would be one of the most beautiful places in the world 1 Like |

OROSUNBOLB: Imagine someone like Tinubu became the leader, can you still have such developments when 30-40% of the budget goes towards his pockets? Same goes for our Eastern regions, we all would like to point fingers and blame the other tribe but the truth is that our regional leaders are just as wicked as the national ones. If a Yoruba person could not do it for 8 years, Northerners could not do it for forever and a South-South person could not do it for 5 years, what makes you think any NIGERIAN can solve these problems? It's not a tribe thing, it's a mentality/cultural problem, I said it once and I'll say it again, show me a true patriot in Nigeria and I'll show you a man that has yet to taste power and wealth! 5 Likes |

PhiliptheArab: I have no idea about vehicle taxation in Nigeria. Most developed countries charge around 110k naira annually just for car road tax and emissions, and that money is used for road repairs. If all licensed cars on the Nigerian roads pay 10k naira annually with over 12 million cars is about 120b naira. 1 Like |

Why don't we have beautiful streets that look like the ones posted above? Answer: Several reasons probably- ; would citizens stop throwing garbage, empty water/drink plastic bottles, pure water nylons, house -hold garbage, faeces wrapped in black nylon bags(esp Lagos), on the streets? Would street traders stop selling on the streets- both static and itinerant hawkers. Would dirt evacuated from drains not be poured onto the road instead of taken to dump sites? Would landlords and tenants cease to cut roads to pass water or electric cable wires after road construction and commissioning? Would tippers not convey sand dripping with water uncovered on roads unchecked as seen on our roads? Would the depraved people in power not inflate x10 the cost of road construction and hence do inferior work with their contractors. Would politicians award road jobs to seasoned contractors instead of their cronies who would use wheel barrow, shovel etc as we saw in one State in the South East. Would the public servants charged with supervision of the jobs, do it without collecting kick backs to allow infractions? Where do we start? There are many reasons why our roads cannot be like that. |
