We don't have these kind of streets in nigeria because we are not ready to pay the kind of taxes that would fund and maintain those kind of streets.

In the UK, if you are living in the city, you pay council tax which ranges from 60000 to 100000 naira monthly depending on the city. That money goes into making the cities look nice

That's why uk cities have great streets.

If we charged that kind of tax in Nigeria, Nigerians would scream.

So we pay scanty taxes and get scanty and bad roads

The bad roads we have in Nigeria are what we can afford. The sad thing is that looting still happens on top

Look at "banana Island" the most expensive real estate in Africa. It looks like a zoo! Everything shoddy, substandard and haphazard! A multi-million dollar state looks inferior to a common neighborhood in the United States! Black people are worthless. Someone please drop a nuke on Africa so the world can heal from this plague called negros.

Banana island is so uselessly overpriced.most of those mansions don't even have a fucking lawn!!!!

Oga, person that pays #60,000 naira tax earns far more than that. Do UK politicians loot their commonwealth the way ours do? Do UK citizens clap and do 'sai baba' to their politicians when they steal? Our country is fucķed up because all of us collectively worked hard to make it so.

Yes bro, but my problem is, I don't even know how to go about it!!
me neither you see the problem with Nigerian politics is that even when starting out one has to have God fathers, the other problem is money because governorship or presidential forms run into the millions, the only solution I can see is if you are willing to start your very own political party if you want to escape godfathers, and that costs money huge amounts of it.

With people like you, Africa will not develop too. Singapore is not even 1% of Botswana and Namibia in area but you keep mentioning them. While you are castigating the other, just encourage them to keep developing who knows they will become even better in the future

Banana Island is very well overrated, those who have not travelled out of the country will think banana island is beautiful. But Eko Atlantic from what i can see so far is being well planned.

Even the EAC itself doesn't have a central green area.

So when you get into politics would you be willing to charge heavy taxes to pay for the good roads you want?

Our budget for thos year is 26 billion dollars. South africa spent 23 billion dollars on education alone last year.

London's budget is 2 billion dollars this year.Lagos budget is 3 milllion dollars. ( for the state not the town) ( figures not correct. Error regretted )

Our oil revenue is not enough to feed everyone for a month self.

How do you raise the money.?

All the taxes, oil and mineral resources nko?
Imagine south Africa that we were helping some years ago

This streets are too much for Nigeria to construct, let them at least tad roads, from roads to streets then from streets to start beautifying the cities, but its somehow impossible to happen throughout nigeria

It is because they pay high taxes that the people are incentivsed to make suure that the taxes are used for what they are suppsoed to be used for.

Even if people pay those taxes you mentioned, it will still be looted! Stop defending rubbish
dnt mind him.nigeria is richer than UK.oil, solid minerals, gas etc.akwa ibom during akpabio got 3billion dollars(450billions naira) annually budget.if u spend only 1 billion dollars yearly na Cape town..akwa ibom for be if akpabio has spend all the moni on development na Dubai akwa ibom for be.because the total amount in 8yrs of budget given to akpabio govt was 24billion dollars.

the goverment system is fvckin too expensive....

take that npower program for example....
its private sector that suppose to teach young people skills and not goverment....

this is how its done in western nations....
but africans are soo greedy....they dont think on the younger people....
they let that to the goverment....

Private investment. It is not like government came in and built them.

Plus you want us to build famrs and refinereis and industries and at the end of the day we sell the stuff they produce below the production price because 'NIGERIANS ARE POOR'?

Shey you can run industries and refinereis at a loss?
Bro my point is we can't continue to borrow to fix our roads, pay salaries. Our problems are before us, these cities we look up to produce their own food and use large chunk of the budget/ revenue to develop, but we import our foods and even borrow to finance the budget, leaving us with deficit to develop our towns and cities. Every state should have a state owned farm or govt should introduce policies that doesn't favour dangote alone but small scale businesses, thereby generating enough taxes.
