Thanks for the response so far. I intend traveling to UK without buying pound here. Hope to sell naira for pound there. Is this OK? I also learnt that I can get out my savings in the 9ja bank by using an ATM in UK which would pay me in pounds How true is this? Any other advised method of getting my savings out of my 9ja account? |
Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by LagosismyHome(f): 8:02am On Nov 24, 2020 |
Vooom: Nobody readily wants naira in the UK..... so I think you are better off buying pounds before you travel. That way you dont get here and be stranded |

Alright thanks for responding I only thought I could send naira to those who need to send to their fam in 9ja while I get pounds in return. Do you know about the ATM withdrawal thing? LagosismyHome: |

Lexusgs430: Osheey . What's that silver one please? And do you think they're available here? Instead of aliexpress I mean, because there'll be duty fees on buying from Aliexpress I think, plus long wait for shipping. I have run through like 3 clippers already, all of them na error especially for beard shaves. |

Good day everyone. I am a Tier 2 holder who just arrived in the UK 2 weeks ago. Is it possible for newbies like myself to apply for a credit card? If yes or no, When ready, which credit card can you recommend? Thanks. |

Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by dubaiprince: 4:53pm On Nov 24, 2020 |
Lexusgs430: Hahaha. I know. My job will require I incur some work related expenses which would be reimbursed. These expenses can be a bit much at times. So I would like a card to separate personal expenses from work related ones while boosting credit score. My office has an arrangement of that nature but it won't help my credit score matter. |
Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by wallg123: 5:10pm On Nov 24, 2020 |
dubaiprince:Have you got a bank account yet?. If yes try applying for credit card through your bank.... alternatively you always ask for VAT receipts whenever you incur work expenses then you can submit those receipts to you HR/ finance department to get reimbursement. That’s what I do whenever in my job whenever I incur work expenses..... Hope it helps 1 Like 1 Share |

@all .. . I need professional advice o Has anyone used small claims or Ombudsman to get money owed? In a nutshell, I worked with this IT company thru an agency and them dey owe me 2 days + a week notice. It's been 2 months now! So far I don send 8 emails chasing up and down LOL but no one cares to reply. A friend suggested ccing the end client as last email and see wetin go happen then take legal action if no positive response. Can there be any legal consequences in doing this? Cheers 1 Like |

Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by LagosismyHome(f): 7:22pm On Nov 24, 2020 |
TrumpsWall: Do you know if your time sheet was approved by the end client.... it hard to advice as to depends on what circumstances did you guys part ways If I were you, I would try to resolve amicable without end client just incase you need either parties for referencing later 1 Like |
Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by TrumpsWall: 7:33pm On Nov 24, 2020 |
When I say end client, I meant the IT company assigned me to their customer. End client don't approve timesheet but the IT company does which they've failed to. This might sound freaking weird but the IT company said I submitted 'Timesheet incorrectly' hence letting me go. I have tried to resolve amicably but no response from both parties. I don't intend using them as reference LOL LagosismyHome: |
Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by LagosismyHome(f): 7:38pm On Nov 24, 2020 |
TrumpsWall: Time sheet rejection is going to lead to non payment .... because without that approval nobody gets any money. So cant blame the agency for non payment. They too probably didnt get any money . I dont fully understand your setup with agency, client IT company but no approved timesheet means no money |
Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by TrumpsWall: 8:16pm On Nov 24, 2020 |
I get that. Someone has to be help accountable. Question is who esp since I came through an agency if I need to go thru small claims or Ombudsmen IT company approves (they've approved before but on this case they didn't). I get assigned to end client to do a job and they don't approve anything as they just want job done. Again, will it make sense to CC end client? LagosismyHome: |

Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by wallg123: 9:09pm On Nov 24, 2020 |
TrumpsWall:If you’ve done the work and have no skeletons in your cupboard, copy everyone of them. They have to pay you. ... Also start documenting all your communication with the agency.... cuz las las you’ll need to prove you did the hours and that you’ve been demanding your pay.... |

Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by TrumpsWall: 9:42pm On Nov 24, 2020 |
No skeletons All documentation with agency, company and end client all gathered. Last email, I copied agency and company. if i include end client, does that breach anything, say GDPR/Data protection (do you know?)? wallg123: |
