Walk into a car stand and buy your car to avoid unnecessary headache.

That is the thing. If it's your first car then you can take the risk buying in Nigeria. I won't forget what I went through with the last corolla I had. The car was actually bought as salvaged with flood history, I never knew. Bought the car and regretted badly. It looked so fine, but the underneath was all gone. Rust was attacking the car like madt. Ended up selling same way I bought after using for a few months. The custom papers for most cars at the stands are also fake. They smuggle it in just to make a lot of gains.

You can order if it's a high end car, but you must be sure of who you are dealing with. Patience is also key because the stories too plenty. Presently expecting a Camry 2010 model ordered direct from the US.

The choice remains yours

Ordinarily, good cars are more expensive (not considering brand factor) but not in environments where you hear "AC needs only gas" yet it is totally faulty, "nothing to fix" yet car is a lemon.
The key is due diligence especially during pre-purchase inspection.

Nonsense. There's no unnecessary headache.

Talk to Deltel. You'll generally be able to save a couple hundred grand by ordering yourself.

I understand you're trying to get clients for your friend but what's a few hundred thousand grand compared to your peace of mind. Theres a million things that could go wrong while you wait for the car to be purchased, driven to the port, put in a container and then shipped down to Nigeria before you talk about clearing it from customs. Time is money bro.

Unless you are preordering a super expensive car, the risks involved far outweighs the gains imo.

I no dey try get clients for anybody, simple facts. But yes, depending on the price, it may be better to buy here.

But from the two cars I've bought so far, I've saved about 500k and 800k respectively. Worth it for me.

if yes please how do I go about it?

It depends on where you want to order your car. Is it from abroad or you want to buy locally. If it is from abroad you will have to meet a dealership that imports car to help you bring it in. If it is buying locally you will have to move about and search all car stands in your area or you can also search online to see who is selling nearby. You can also search here https://www.bitstipend.com/ad/quick-search?category=2

You can preorder.
There are many reputable car dealers here.
I bought my first car preorder. A 2008 mdx. I saved over 1 million naira from the cost at the stand. My case is an extreme one. I was damn lucky.
Now here are the factors to consider when doing preorder.
1. Time. It will take between 3 weeks to 3 months for a preorder to arrive. This depends on the location it was bought. Containerised cars from areas like texas, florida and california take a longer time to get here (60 days or more on average). Also note that containerised cars are not prone to pilfering by wharf rats.
2. Car condition. You will see what you are buying. Level of damage. Mileage.
3. Vin check. Your dealer may be able to give you an autocheck report for the car you want to buy as some of them get it for free or might give it to you as a goodwill gesture. This way, you know what you are getting into
4. Money. This will be in your control. You will be the person to determine your clearing cost as you are free to clear by yourself if you want to or nominate an agent of your choice. You will also determine how much your shipping and transport cost will be as well as bidding cost. Trucking and shipping will depend on the location you are buying from. Your buyer will advice you on the cost of trucking and shipping.
5. Repairs. If applicable, you will be able to determine and direct how well your car will be repaired. Since it's your personal car, you can do justice to the repairs. Instead of masking airbag lights like dealers do, you can repair the airbag and reset it properly.
6. Patience. You will need lots of this.

Kaakakibuy bought for me. Deltel is a tested and trusted person on this platform.

I also do preorder now if you are interested.

Like suggested above, you can walk to the stands and buy any car of your choice and be done with it.

But bear this in mind, good things don't come easy.

A massive percentage of cars sold in Nigeria as "clean title" told, are not. For me, it's always better to buy directly from abroad, than here. However, do not outsource the choosing of the vehicle to the person doing the transaction. The 2 cars I brought from the US were sourced by me, with them ticking all elements of my check list.

Many Nigerian dealers are fraudulent and big liars

Fully agree with you. I've also ordered a car from USA much cheaper than it could be in Nigeria. The only problem was how to transport it so I had to make a research..

My friend who deals with related people helped me to find. It's not too hard because you can find sellers anywhere in USA. Much harder isto find a good reliable vehicle shipping company who may guarantee the safety of your car during transportation. First of all check article https://transportgator.com/car-transport/vehicle-shipping/ about shipping or consult with those people about possibility to transfer the car.

Sorry for the late response. I hope have a friend or relative in US. Or at least someone you can trust very well. The first step is searching and buying the car, then shipping. These two can be handled by your US based trusted person. When the car arrives Lagos port, you now go about the clearing process yourself.

Like I said, if you have a contact person who can go about it for you, then all you need do is to request for pictures and video calls during selection. But first, it's important to have in mind the particular kind of car you want to buy. If you're going for salvaged, then visit salvaged car auction sites like copart, iaai etc
