RuudVanNisteroy: Lol U are showing me Windhoek masterplan. Abuja has its own master planning and its involves everything U bolded out save for bike lanes. But then again Abuja roads is generally wider than Windhoek lanes and not battling with choatic traffic. There is free movement. |

Vlain: Then why is the masterplan and what is on ground inferior to Windhoek? |

OROSUNBOLB: You're living in El-Doraldo! Some streets, possibly Europeans',were shown here and the question was "why don't we have these kind of streets in Nigeria ?" My answer to that was very simple and that's, the present system is not working and will never work for a country like Nigeria or any other African country that's heterogeneous like ours. You did not answer my question, even if we went back to regional governance, what guarantee do you have that the entire Yoruba race identifies as one group? In Yoruba land we have over 40 ethnic groups alone. Even if we managed to work it out in Yorubaland, Igboland/SS is way more complex with over 80 ethnic groups, how will you solve this problem? If we are to use the excuse of ethnic differences and over diversification as excuses then we might as well split the country into over 100 pieces because I guarantee you Ijaw will not sit side by side with Igbos and form a government. Non 9ja Deltans Igbos will fume when they get left out of major resources. I'm not even going to bother explaining the North because most people still don't know the difference between an Hausa person and a Fulani. You are absolutely right, the current system will not work but you have not shown anything remotely close to proving regional governance is the way forward. All you have as evidence is Awolowo's time but you're forgetting we have bigger mouths and fatter bellies now. Human greed has exponentially increased and corruption is now magnified! Once again I agree with your premise, the current system is a failure but the solution that you put forth might not work expectedly! 2 Likes |

Ifeoluwav:Stop making excuses. The white man didn't force force our people to fail to develop 24/7 electricity. The white man didn't force fulani herdsman to loot and murder farmers. The white man didn't make our tax to GDP 6% compared to 15% in GHANA. Most of Africa would be better off under white rule 4 Likes |

abbey621: Guy,can we just rest this already ? Quite frankly, you're putting forward some very irritating assertions that make one to doubt, very strongly, your claim that you're a Yoruba person. What do you mean by "Yoruba race identifies as one group" ? Are you one of those fifth columnists whose mission here is to plant seed of discord in our midst (Yoruba) for the advancement of your own evil agenda ? Have we ever ,as a people,Yoruba people, said that we are not one people ? So what's your point exactly ? I proffered what I believe was a political solution to what is holding us back as a nation yet,you said I did not answer your question . which question exactly ? That Yoruba people are not one ,right ? You couldn't come up with any practicable solution, rather you kept talking about change of "mentality" or something and I put it to you that how would you influence the so called mentalities of people with different values and aspirations to work together ! The simple question I want to put to you is this : in all of this ,what is your solution to our current political gridlock that serves as an impediment to our development ? I truly hope that you won't repeat that "it is our mentality" crap again. It is neither practicable nor make any sense ! If you truly believe that we should continue to endure the current system that has never worked and will never work for us,while we wait for some imaginary angels to work on our "mentalities" ,I put it to you that you're the one that's living in a fool's paradise ! I'm done with this subject; it's tasteless already ! 2 Likes |

PhiliptheArab: you still don't get my point Sir. my question is, the one they have been collecting all this years has it been effectively and judiously used? our Government or those running the affairs of this country are so greedy and have no conscience at all. |
Re: Why Don't We Have These Kind Of Streets In Nigeria? by Nobody: 10:54am On Nov 25, 2020 |
Tell1234: The point is, even if we got all that loot you rfer to back into Nigeria and used it for 'building roads and infrastructure, there is the matter of the continuued maintenance and future expansion and upgrading of those roads which need taxes. Even if the loot was returned, it still won't raise our development to the level of the US and the UK. We are not as rich as we think we are, which is why the looting and corruption is so insidiously evil in the ifirst place. |

PhiliptheArab:bros u don't realise the power these leaders possess, or that God has bestowed on them, what is needed for the umpteenth time is the political willingness to transform and better the life of the citizenry and the nationa at large! Please go back down history lane and check Nigerian status and the Asian tigers, UAE status, 40-60 years they were all at the same level of development. Now they all have left naija far far behind, and moved forward into the future at an astronomical pace. So what happened, what changed? The same intellect God give China and co is the same he gave naija, so what did naija use their own for? Backward compatible underdevelopment I guess. |

Aconomist: AFRICA won't have been better off under white rule. The only parts that would have been better off would have been the areas of economic importance to the whites. Everywhere else woud have been in darkness. Most of our infrastructure in Nigeria was built post colonial. They are dillapidated because most of you Africans want a first world life on a third world income. 2 Likes |

U can't increase my tax when I haven't seen anything uve done with the ones have been paying, who does that? A government that couldn't even give out covid19 palliatives to hungry citizens instead they used it as birthday gifts yet u are saying they should increase our tax? Aconomist: If Africans with its estimated 1.4billion population today which consist mostly of young people, unlearn all the miseducations that have caused inferiority and self hate, decides to build their continent, support innovation, create and depend on their credible media outlets, handle issues domestically, changes it curriculums to be African centered, consume entertainment and arts from only African countries, respect each others culture and region, unites(have a mutual objective), have a strong independent military that is trained in Africa by Africans, have peace, have a strong justice system, have 24/7 electricity, goes into full production with it's resources, no longer export it raw materials instead export finished goods, depends solely on it's agriculture, considers trades with each other first. This will mean the black race will rule the world, since Africa already have 80% of the worlds resources, arable lands, man power and professionals(technical know how). The standard of living of Africans will rise and things will change for the black race globally. Having done all these, 1)What do you think will happen to the economy of rest of the world? 2) How will the others catch up, with maintenance etc.? 1 Like |

Ifeoluwav:Bro, China alone produces more natural resources than all of Africa and has more people. We are not a threat to any body, get that through your mushy black brain. Look up the top gold producer, it's China not Africa. Here is the link: http://www.usfunds.com/investor-library/frank-talk/top-10-gold-producing-countries/ Next is Russia, then Australia, than the U.S. Look up the top iron producers: Australia, Brazil, India https://www.nsenergybusiness.com/features/top-iron-ore-producing-countries/ Look up the top copper producers: Chile, Peru, China https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_copper_production The world doesn't need us. White people could supply all their resource needs with Russia, Australia and Canada and never trade with Africa again and it wouldn't hurt them. Africa represents 17% of the world population but only 3% of GDP. We are like ants. We could vanish off the face of the earth no one would even notice. Drop your delusions of grandeur and accept reality. |

Obioma993: Good afternoon Compared to devfeloping countries we don't generate enough revfenue from tax to meet our needs. The US for example has a tax to gdp ratio of 24% Nigeria 5.8% Secnd, we have built a lot of infrastructure with the 'tax paid before'...and the money we earned from our raw materials. The reason why we can'T BULD MORE and upgrade and maintain existing is because the money we earn from selling oil is not enough for a nation of 50 million people, talkless 200 million. And we don't earn enough from taxes. Still on taxes, our tax rate is too low to do much of anything. Add the fact that Nigerians are resistant to any attempt to increase taxes (our roads are bad because we Nigerians stpped the government from tolling the roads...meaning no extra income for road maintenance) Finally, things like the subsidies we keep on petrol for most of the last 4 deacdes means money that could have been spent on fixing roads is spent on paying the petorleum industry f or not selling fuel above 300 naira.per liter.Money which is money wasted. 1 Like |

This is Ukraine, a country that is poorer than Nigeria on a GDP basis and only slightly better on a per capita basis. Can we really say blacks are the same species as other races? The level of organization and civilization in Ukraine blows Nigeria out of the water. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUGIJYWFmcw |

You don't even have any solutions than to complain, nag and compare, and you don't want to learn. You are even getting information from Wikipedia, no wonder you are yet to have a clue. Why will someone listen to someone like you that goes about insulting and demeaning his race in all his post. Shame on you. Imagine making someone like you a leader. You will only become a sellout like the rest. The world needs Africa than Africa needs the world that was why colonisation happened in the first place. Ifeoluwav: If I ruled Nigeria, it would become a developed country within 10 years. The first thing I would do is sl*****r the corrupt politicians -- next I would m*****cre the Fulani herdsmen and carpet bomb Boko Haram. Then I would put trashcan and sanitation services in every city. If you throw plastic on the sidewalk? 10 lashes. If you throw a water bottle? 50 lashes. Penalty for corrupt police: death Penalty for corrupt teachers: death Next I will deal with corrupt pastors. If you claim to perform a miracle and it turns out to be false, your "church" will be taxed at a rate of 25% on all offerings. That revenue will go towards healthcare and education. Next, I would slash government salaries to a fixed rate of 10x the minimum wage, although food and lodging will be included. 50% of the budget will go towards infrastructure while 20% goes to healthcare and education. I would extend Buhari's current border closure, but actually fix the electricity grid so domestic companies will be able to produce efficiently. |

Have we ever ,as a people,Yoruba people, said that we are not one people ? So what's your point exactly ? Truth hurts brother! People from Modakeke still harbor hatred against indegines of Ife. Egba people still detest Ijebu people, Kwara is divided as well. If you removed the sentiments and just reason based on logic alone, you would understand my point. Yoruba is still more united than other parts of the country but let's not pretend division does not exist! You asked for a solution but you still fail to acknowledge the problem! Are you being dishonest or just plain out of touch with reality? Regional governance is a fantasy that will never see the light of the day, not because it is a bad idea but because the other regions are so disorganized that they would be at a disadvantage by allowing that. I'm Yoruba born and bred, we have the highest chance of excelling if Nigeria dismantles itself but if you think any Federal government is going to relinquish power to regional government without sweat, tears and blood then you are smoking that cheap kush. My solution is all out revolution or nothing at all, soldiers killed people for demanding their rights, what do you think will happen when you threaten the status quo? REVOLUTION NOW and if that is too costly, let's start changing our mentality of selling votes, not voting, looking for immediate wealth and richness. Let's install some moral values and patriotism into the nation, let's vote out the corrupt ones and take back the country. 1 Like |

abbey621: It is impossible to change an entrenched corrupt democratic system through the ballot box. They will simply rig out the good candidate. If the rigging fails, they will just arrest and prosecute the candidate on cooked up charges even before election starts. They are a many ways to isolate a sincere candidate in a corrupt democracy because the sitting government already has so much powers. |
