Imagine the disturbing headline.

This is disgusting, instead of encouraging exportation, you are rather doing otherwise

PHijo:

Zimbabwe will be like paradise! More like Venezuela. The primary issue is Buhari, not Emefiele. The CBN is overwhelmed. Both monetary and fiscal interventions have been left to them because the Buhari cabinet has failed to act.

The economy is on Auto run. No direction at all.

It was expected anyway. We all saw it coming.

Come home and invest in Nigeria! This is it.

They suck unsuspecting people in into investments and kill the dream with government policy bottlenecks. Investors operating with bank loans are stuck. Nigeria is a dreamkiller indeed.

Why should a government that wants to diversify the economy and strengthen the naira, impose rules that will make exportation more difficult?

It's a Next Level move by our darling Buhari cool.

Unfortunately, the government is not the problem, the exporters are to blame too. when you want to import machinery CBN give them dollars at official rate all in a bid to encourage more exports from the cocoa producers. However, when they export, they will refuse to return export proceeds through the official channel and route the proceeds to the black market. If they have nothing to hide, they should document and process the declaration form before exporting.

What is Northerners waiting for?

Lagos will struggle to get vat money they will want to ask for their own share even though they forbid alcohol consumption in Kano state and other northern states.

Niger delta will struggle to get crude oil money the north will want to have a share of that money even though they do not go through the environmental degradation that most Niger delta oil producing community are going through.

He added that the approval process could take as much as 40 days from CBN.

A Cocoa industry stakeholder told Bloomberg that CBN paused exports for over 2 weeks to ensure exporters complied with the new rules, “We have five containers at the ports, some of which have left the factory for well over two months now."

Did you read the article?

Read it again. You will see the part where they mentioned they don't have issues with it but the documentation takes 40+ days to process

This is agric produce by the way.......

Meanwhile, if your economic policies are so bad that people find it makes more sense to not keep their income in your country, is the problem the people?

You think economics works via patriotism to incurring business losses due to foolish policies and hostile business environment?

This policy somersault from Emefiele and co will soon turn our economy to like that of Zimbabwe.

Its a northern agenda to frustrate the southern farmers and exporters. Why are other expoters not complaining.

The grand northern idea to kill agriculture in the south and boost Norths agriculture... The idiots are in need of forex oh. Why won't we have problems if we only import and we frustrate exports? Of course there'll be a deficit

I was wondering when this news will come to the public domain.

There is an ongoing battle between truck owners and exporters, some trucks have been carrying export containers for 40- 60 days because of the inability of the shipping lines to receive these containers.

The shipping lines are relying on a directive from the CBN that every NXP (export declaration) must be confirmed by them (CBN) even though the exporter have evidence of this declaration in the form of a CCI.

Exporters have incurred a huge amount of extra expenses renting open fields and hiring cranes to drop these containers until these approvals are confirmed. This is in addition to the huge amount for transport to the terminal especially Apapa and PTML. It costs over 700k and at least 2 weeks to transport a 40" container to either terminal.

After all these, the CBN expects the exporter to repatriate the dollar proceeds and sell to the bank at 385.

We are not serious in this country

Buhari and his people want to destroy this country.

These people are aiming at our standard of living.

Cost and ease of business has worsened too much.

How exactly do we still have an economy? How?
Nigerians are tenacious. Anywhere else and it would be Zimbabwe.

It's extremely difficult to export food stuffs from NIgeria to Europe.

Things that Ghana and Kenya do with ease.
