Lazyyouth4u: There's insider trading, stock manipulation everywhere. A better argument will be that the nse is not dynamic enough and doesn't have a diversified array of sector's that allow you to take advantage of the serious growth potential that exists in us, China and uk stocks, also there's a currency and economic uncertainty risk aspect with nse. Forward thinking folks should easily understand that. |

jajeri3216:In the US (and most developed markets), you will have a hard time getting away with it. It is almost impossible. Especially when you want to make big money. They track everyone that works with securities and every huge block of securities that are traded. And I mean every one. Trust me on this one. Of course some people will get away with it but it is not as widespread as it is here. In smaller markets like Nigeria’s (and other small emerging markets)it is not a problem at all. Everyone does it. Boss, I don’t understand the point of your second paragraph sha.. Better argument for what sir? |

GTB just informed me that USD accounts can’t accept more than $20K per month courtesy of CBN. This happened after I tried paying some funds into someone’s account. Is anyone aware of this? |

awesomeJ: It's a crazy volatile market that is shaping up to be a pretty rewarding one if played right and sensibly.... It trades 24/7, worldwide with no breaks or resets. To be honest, the pullback was quite obvious. It was quite unlikely it'd break 20k on first or even second retest. That said, if it gets to 12k, I'd be reloading seriously as I think the real party would be next year |

Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by RealityShot: 6:19pm On Nov 27, 2020 |
Diyke4rich:no Sir, mmba, efian! Leave that stock alone. First tell us why you are considering buying it self. First Bank has poor dividend payout %, that's why I said leave it. You can make a cool 10% by March if you buy zenith at N24.50 now. (not that I am saying you should O, because that stock will definitely fall before or by march) So tell us why first bank? 1 Like 1 Share |

Diyke4rich: Na like civil service, the least efficient bank among the FUGAZ is first bank, UBA GTB, Access and Zenith. These are the 5 biggest banks in the country, they control over 65% of the market. First Bank has the highest staff cost in the industry, it stands at N100 billion per annum, whereas GTB has less than N45 billion, Zenith , Access and UBA have an average of N50 billion as staff cost. Zenith made profit after tax of over N200 billion, GTB made N185 billion, UBA and Access made about N90 billion, whereas First Bank struggled to make N60 billion. The N100 billion used as staff expenses by First Bank could only generate a profit after tax of N60 billion, compared to N45 billion spent by GTB to generate a profit after tax of N185 billion. I won't advise you to take a longer term position on First Bank. My opinion though. Imagine First Bank gave an unsecured loan of $400 million to Omokre one of the boys of Deziane former minister of petroleum and the loan went bad. 11 Likes 2 Shares |

It will get to a stage where many middle class people will start opening foreign accounts and operating them from here. Already some banks have their agents here in Nigeria trying to market their offshore banking services And the interesting thing is that.... The balances are not so high like that... To compound the matter Nigeria unlike the USA does not have FATCA So those Nigerians can operate these accounts devoid of much headache Let the CBN continue in this act of folly In due time, their eye go clear 3 Likes 1 Share |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by awesomeJ(m): 8:47pm On Nov 27, 2020 |
DexterousOne: It's another price adjustment, or Devaluation if you would! A N6 adjustment/devaluation in CBN's exchange rate going forward! A similar memo came out when rate was set at 386. New rate is now 392 to a USD. Another 6bn FX gains for ZenithBank. You will benefit from that as a shareholder. NAFEX rate also closed at c. 392 from the usual c. 386 Naira has been adjusted or devalued again! 392-360 is 32. Naira is down about 9% YTD. By the way did you really have to say someone is dumb? you could have just skipped that part. |

I have a very unpopular suggestion Maybe we should just damn the consequences and bite the bullet Maybe that is the only way things will change for good in this country If not for anything The very high NGN to USD rates will seriously trim our acquirer taste for a lot of non essentials in this country Though it has a drawback of impoverishment I'm just thinking out loud The CBN monopoly on the USD should be broken Let the BDC and the banks and the street determine the price I'd wager that remittances inflows into the country will explode And foreign investments will pour in as well... Though our neighbours will also be in trouble because of how cheap things will become in Nigeria In comparison to their own country There are so many trade offs in the air And none will give us a favourable short term outcome So why dont we just bite the bullet If we refuse to be productive afterwards Let us suffer for it Afterall As we say He that does not work should not eat 1 Like |

Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by emmanuelewumi(m): 9:11pm On Nov 27, 2020 |
RuggedSniper: Correct that is the name of the guy. Management kept on using shareholders fund to block the holes created by non performing loans, they never invited AMCON to buy some of the non performing loans so that they can go after the debtors, that is why I love Access, GTB and Zenith they will go after their debtors. Coscharis lost his seat on the board of Access when he guaranteed a loan for Ifeanyi Ubah, which the guy refused to pay. Access bank sold Coscharis shares in order to recover the billions of Naira granted to Ubah.. First Bank does not have core investors who owned 5% or more of the bank, unlike Access, GTB and UBA, so management is doing anyhow. First Bank has money, deposits of dead customers etc but they are not managing the resources of the company well. 6 Likes 1 Share |
