Re: The Viral Video (LUTH RESPONSE)

The attention of LUTH management has been drawn to a video posted online by a lady to malign our Hospital. The video is a total misrepresentation of the event that happened yesterday.

This video was posted by a social media-obsessed individual who hid her face.

Yesterday, 25th November 2020, we had some challenges with the place where mothers stay. This place also houses a Crèche attached to it. We needed to evacuate the Crèche to create more space for mothers to stay. Our Neonatologists and hospital management have even syndicated some money to improve and expand the place for the comfort of mothers.

There was a challenge during the evacuation of the Crèche, the attention of LUTH management was called to this. The CMAC, Head of Neonatology Unit and her team members went immediately to the place to clarify issues.

The Cretche was evacuated and the mothers were left in the building.

The lady who posted the video and other mothers *were aware *of the efforts of the Management. It was therefore a surprise to see the video online.

The people the lady captured in her video had nothing to do with the event she reported. She was aware that the issue was well managed by LUTH management within 15 minutes.

It is unfortunate that an individual will go this extent, taking advantage of the unmitigated freedom afforded by the social media age to smear the LUTH name even though, her baby was successfully treated till discharge in the same Hospital.

The newly refurbished, wide corridor, with blue polycarbonate roof shown in the video was colonized by visiting relations of parents of children in nearby children’s Wards and Children’s Emergency Centre. Some bring as many as 4-7 relatives visiting and they crowd the place. LUTH and nobody has ever been allocated a corridor for anyone to stay. We however don’t drive those who hold court there, despite the inconveniences they cause to other users of the walkway.

We remain committed to the provision of health care services to our numerous patients and thank our committed healthcare workers for their dedication to duty.

CMAC, LUTH

This is very painful for me to see.
While nursing mothers struggle to pay bills, senators ordered and imported lexus jeeps from abroad.

Nothing is wrong with the vehicle they currently use. If the cost of importation of over 100 lexus jeeps was used to fund mother and child welfare care this story at luth would be different.

Lexus jeep for a senator is more important than the welfare of a nursing mother or her baby.

I really hate the fact that the government still a lot, but I think bathing kids and paying bills for bathing them is not and should not be a priority...........I mean!!! the government can do everything for us na shooo...

parents and potential ones need to know that achievement isn't in the number of kids you are capable of having...

Achievement is having one or two kids you can take good care of........ Nigeria is Approaching an Inferno!!

During election, these senators paid between 500ngn - 4000ngn to each electorate before they were voted into the house, do you think that the political office seeker that settled the electorate financially during election period owe the electorate anything again after the prior settlement? To the senator, it is purely an investment, he ll want to reap the profit on his investment. What moral right does an electorate who has been settled financially during campaign and election period has to ask for good governance.

Exactly, why?...
Our men of God need to wake up to reality and start discouraging their followers from giving birth indiscriminately. Some of their ultrances are not helping matter. The country don't have the means to take care of these children

Abiodun Borisade, a Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State had shared the video with the caption;

However reacting to this, Gawat stated that Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) is state-owned, while LUTH is owned by the federal government.

Probably because they didn't pay hospital bills. And the only reason they won't pay is that they don't have.
