Redomi:What you have there in the second pix is blood clotting and the major reason is simply the long exposure to the heat, being that broilers are fragile and tend not to know when the heck to gerrouta the sun, like local chicks will sun bathe and when the heat becomes intense, they move off to a more cooler area, broiler do not know exactly when to move until it becomes too late.... Take for in stance, you have a poultry house facing the west, when temperature not controlled, this is exactly what is gonna happen to a lot of the chicks when they are faced with the direct sunlight; all the blood in their system gathers down around the abdomen and birds becomes too weak to move and eat, finally the give up and dies Remedy; stop exposing birds to harsh weather condition, instead of free ranging, get yellow maize and grind to crumbles(crumbles and not mash please), and feed them for like a week, this will help toughen their skin a bit and make them hardy to withstand some weather conditions, secondly, always ensure to give them glucose in water every evening as to raise their sugar level, if possible, combine with multivitamin Wishing you all the best. 3 Likes |

Hello farmers in the house. Is it advisable to use chick mash for DOC layers considering the fact that starter is 4k plus now and mash is 3800 or there about |

chic91:I guess this is a big project. I was looking to see where you set aside for brooding, (i.e. your brooding pen) |
Re: Xmas Broiler Broading In Pictures by Redomi(m): 2:35pm On Nov 26, 2020 |
jidestroud:No sir since I have started feed fermentation, I feed them grower twice a day, early in the morning, I remove feed before 9am, and feed them 6pm before I put them into their cage at night. Sometimes when I noticed tired birds, I dip inside water in a bowl raising the head above water level. Then I forgot to tell you I mixed calcium with their feed every morning. I want to deworm them tomorrow. Thank you sir, they are all better, all walking now, they are not as lazy as before |

chic91: Pls is this only for one broiler pen , if its then it means ur concentration is more on other structure than the pen and I think the pen is supposed to be the revenue generator Good luck 1 Like |

Redomi: Bro, you have been told what is wrong. During hot weather, they cannot process food very well. I think AA tolerate heat better than your present breed. The quantity of vitamins in your feed is not enough to sustain them this period. Also, you complained about their legs I'm glad you added more calcium. It's time to change the feed you are using at this period, or buy additional vitamins and minerals. Make deeper research to know how to use them when the weather is extremely hot. Another solution is that if you are near stream or you use borehole, replace their drinking water when hot. Solution can be that you buy iced block and mix with their water from 12pm to 4pm to reduce heat. But the challenge is that make sure the source of the water is clean. 1 Like |

6 weeks today. Average weight 2.4kg. Lost 14 birds so far. Honestly this set of agrited birds are the worst I've ever raised |

Re: Xmas Broiler Broading In Pictures by 1b8m: 8:51pm On Nov 26, 2020 |
Redomi:I sensed trouble from when they came in as DOC. Looking very small and not as active as the agrited birds I used to know. And that's how they fell sick at any slight carelessness 2 Likes |
Re: Xmas Broiler Broading In Pictures by Attit: 8:56pm On Nov 26, 2020 |
Redomi:Bro...you did post mortem and you saw fat. Why blame the breed? You saw it clearly that fat stored in them - Indigestion. You have been told the reason for your failure. Make adjustment fast. Marshall of OBJ needs thorough monitoring during cold. Noiler needs closer monitoring at certain stage. You must know your breed very well. There is absolutely nothing wrong with your breed. Make adjustment and you will be shocked of the rapid recovery and growth you will get. 3 Likes |

Chibydinho:150 My birds are seriously infected with coccidiosis and Newcastle disease. Can someone recommend a good combination of drugs please? |
Re: Xmas Broiler Broading In Pictures by chukskafor(m): 6:23am On Nov 28, 2020 |
1b8m:As for the coccidiosis, use amprolium but for the new castle, you can only prevent, it can't be treated. BTW, how did you get to know that they have cccidiosis and new castle, was it through diagnosis or from physical appearance, what are the exhibiting signs you saw that made you to conclude ?
