This week (by Gods grace) my 2003 4cyl Honda Accord will surpass 200,000miles. Its still going strong (no transmission or engine knock), thanks to God, good maintenance and avoiding all Kazeems grin

As unpopular as some may consider this, my next car would be a Honda! Love it!

Will try and get a screenshot at the 200,000miles mark.

I intend to highlight some of the maintenance I did through the years and also seek help from the pros as my Accord maintenance schedule (in the manual) ends at 180,000miles undecided . So from now on, I'm on my own.

Screen shot below was 2 days ago, now its just 14 miles shy.

NB: I know many cars exceed 200k miles, just celebrating mine smiley

This is how a dashboard should be. CLEAN
No Christmas lights grin

We don't know how many transmissions he has had nor the number of ball joints used grin

Only lower ball joint change. Put in chinko while waiting for OEM to be delivered. Once OEM landed replaced immediately. This was 5 years ago.

No transmission repair or rebuild. Only ATF/filter changes.

That's really impressive. Any issue with your axles?

My TL has been solid. Only issue in the last 7 months is a recurring failure of the drive shaft. First it was the inner, then later it was the right outer and now the same right outer is showing early signs of failure.

Complete OEM is over a thousand dollars for both sides. There's no way I'm spending that kind of money on axles. Saw some aftermarket units on rockauto for a fifth of the OEM price and will be placing the order by the turn of the year. Hopefully, I'll get 30k miles out of them before they wear out.

Thanks boss. Having one subtle vibration at speed that I'm still troubleshooting. So can't give a definitive answer on this for now.
On the Rockauto axle, please research the brand very well, have seen some stories of vibrations with some aftermarkets.

Senior man, that P.iyke guy meticulously recorded all his repairs, so I'm leaning towards his own account. Unless he kept out some "transmission repair/rebuild" here and there. Las las na big win for Team Honda be dis, make dem enjoy.

Honestly, I don't keep petrol consumption records based on per litre. All I can say is from full to half tank, I cover around 170 - 190miles depending on driving style.

It might have been done before he got it. Those transmissions hardly ever cross the 150k mile mark.

Mine is well over 200k miles.

Bought it at 100k miles.

So you insinuate the previous owner did replace the gear box?

Am sure Piyke didn't replace his either.

The secret is having driven 4 generations of accord, I know how to avoid certain problems ignorant people assume is bad with the Accord. I avoided that thing that makes Accord gear box fails and since it has not failed yet, the previous owners didn't do same mistake either.

Now over 255k miles and doing more preventive maintenance.

I recently noticed my radiator fans come on at a higher temperature than previously. They used to come on before 100oC but this changed to 100 and above.
So I went ahead to replace the radiator fan switch (coolant temperature switch/sensor). I did a video while at it:

Lol. Don't think it's too much. This car has been driven mostly highway including going to work. It is stop and go that kills vehicles, especially if maintenance practice is poor on top of that.

I know na. I've been preaching it on this forum na that high mileage doesn't mean much if it's highway miles mostly and if a vehickle is well taken care of.

More sparks to your plug jare. Enjoy the ride.

Bros, u do a lot more beyond ffg manufacturer recommendation
1. Know your car
2. Get involved in the fixing (don't pack at mech n go to sleep. Even if u do ask questions on the fault n fix.
3. Buy oem part
4. DIY etc.

Only few pple can do this. Ordinary syn oil n coolant(30-40k), men go japaa
