This your shalaye no get part 3. How can you tell me that OGS on 66 points in 2019 did well vs Moyes on 64 points in 2013?

Maybe you should analyze the performance on a season by season basis, or do diff-in-diff analysis. Take utd’s points in reference years, and deduct from the points accumulated by the leaders, then check the one that has the lower difference.

We are not looking at positions, we are reviewing performances of the managers, what you should understand is the tougher the competition is in a season, the lesser the points amassed by teams on the log. Also, you get to see few points differences.

If OGS were to be the manager in 2013, we would have amassed less than 60 points, simple!
How are you calculating this?

And if Moyes was manager in 2019 we would have come 6th with 60 or less with your assumption na grin

So position isn't important now bah

So if we get 80 points and come 4th to you it is better than getting 70points and come 1st

Well, 75 points is a massive improvement vs 66 points as long as the league leader has less than 90 points. And please tell me if you’d be happy for us to finish 3rd with 59 points when the leader amassed more than 90 points. It means we are regressing, if things pick up for the others the following season, we are screwed!

And to you things won't pick up for us because you are a pessimist cheesy

So a 4th position with 81 points is better than a 1st with the same 81 points because if our rival sit up we will be screwed

What an okoto meow rant

But it is only in united that our rivals will gain ground on us cheesy cheesy

I dont think you understand my point. There is no assumption here, I am comparing Moyes’ output to OGS’s in terms of points.

Also, this thing is not rocket science, compare a year when a league leader amassed 81 points and the club that comes 4th (say Arsenal) gets 70 points, and another year where a leader got 100 points and the same club, this time in 3rd position got 66 points, what does that tell you about Arsenal fc? Is that progress?

I don’t know why you are not getting it sha. Anyway, whatever rocks your boat!

This actually buttresses my point, this is a massive step up. First position -81 points, Tottenham - 70. Now, the second table shows First position - 93, Tottenham - 86 points, but this time second position.

Tell me if Tottenham progressed or regressed? Also, even though the first position’s points were higher by 12 points, the following year, Tottenham improved their points by 16 points, while they narrowed the gap from 11 points to 7 points. This thing is relative (YoY and relative to first position), not absolute.

A EPL wins the league with 100 points this season doesn't mean another won't win it with 75 points next season

You finish with 66points at 6th points and the next season finish with 66points at 3rd, why does it only mean to you that the team didn't progress, but rather the league was more competitive?

A team does generally always progress in points season by season but fluntuate, what should progress or be made constant is their position on the league table !!!!!

You don't collect titles by points (Liverpool is an exam ) but by position!!!!!, Know this and know peace.

Moyes didnt get 64 points at Man utd. He was sacked with 4 games left to the end of the season. We got another 7 points after he was sacked so Moyes had 57 points on the board when he was sacked at man utd.

I love Pogba, but United first. Apparently he knows he's no more the main man for the Squad. He's dispensable, thus I expect him to playing under no pressure henceforth or he's freed to go, even in January.

Quartet of Fred, VDB, Pogba and Bruno in Midfield can work, if Pogba is as disciplined and workaholic like the Rests.

As VDB said, he can play anywhere in the Midfield, including 6. Fred can do same as well, thus it'll reduce defensive Responsibilities on Pogba and Bruno, though they must defend as well if need be.

I don't wanna see us playing with Wingers for now. Cavani with any sensible Attacker should be starting upfront. Let Martial, Rashford and Greenwood be competing for starting XI Spot.

Right from next Month, Ed should be cashing out on fringe Players. Jones should be No. 1 on the List. Bailly, Rojo, Lingard, TFM should not be missed on the List as well.

Special thanks to Ighalo, he's finally going back to China in January. How I wish he can convince his Club to get Lingard and maybe Rojo as well.

Just rest. It is easier to get Woodward to step down than to get those players out of United.

Pogba has been tried with different players and in different position, we really don't need any experiment again. We should be rooting for VDB to be starting every game now. Make Pogba carry him baggage dey go....

Of course I want VDB starting all Games henceforth, but I am still hopeful Pogba can play with them in Midfield as well.

If he's tried again and failed, then no Excuse keeping him again.

Scared of our mood going into this game. We're looking at it like we're set to qualify tonight and the aim is to top the group. I know that's the state of things but knowing United well we shouldn't be looking at it that way. We should be looking at tonight's game as a do or die thing. We are set to be knocked out of the UCL and we need a win against PSG to change that..

Cuz if we look at things realistically, if we lose against PSG, we'll have to go away to Leipzig to get a result. We don't want to be in that position.
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by benji93: 1:52pm On Dec 02, 2020
@nitrogen you don start again with your "one legged" arguments. cheesy. From one decade to another the average of the points amassed has definitely gone up, although even during the 90's some champions amassed over 90 points. So would you say the premier league is progressing? It depends on what you call progress. In my book competition is progress, so i would argue the league has regressed, i mean most of the teams just suck. But well you will then bring in issues like better technology, better pitches, better medical services, and i'll have to give in, cos you would have mentioned way too many progress parameters than i have. I'll take your closing the gap argument. But your argument with respect to Moyes vs OGS isn't. It's of no use to compare them solely based on points. You better use a more holistic comparison. At one time you amass 80 points and come fourth, and at another time you amass 85 and come fifth. Would you call this progress. Hell no. As an owner, i will fire you and tell you that you failed to qualify for the champions league. Your idea of which comparisons apply are not quite useful, honestly. Sir Alex must have made no net progress with his teams given that the total number of points amassed in the years we were champions moved up and down. He even won with 75 points.
