Esteemed Experts in the House, Please how many drums of paint do I need for the internal and external of a bungalow of 5 rooms, 2 parlour/dining (excluding toilets and kitchen because they are tiled). A painter I contacted is talking of a total of about 70 drums of paint! Is this correct? Thanks for your expected assistance. |

One4me: I pray that what happened in 2014 do not repeat itself again. Do “naija oversabi homeowners” ever listen? ________ Limitless choice sounds delightful in theory. But in most work situations, endless options clog the drain. Homeowners should learn to set clearer goals and avoid analysis paralysis by setting cut-off points and sticking to it. No be everything you’d DIY! ______ In my whole life, I’ve never set out to buy a vehicle by myself. I always ask professionals to do it for me. I can still count nothing less than 14 to my name. The reason I always ignore most Nairaland requests is simply because a lot of people don’t know their limit. Even a master satisficer (master pleaser) will falter when worn down by too many choices. 2 Likes |

Its ok IF and i say again IF the builder has imbedded the reinforcement in the CMU. But looking at other features of the structure, this person don't have a clue of structures at all. By pure observation, the build is missing a Column!!! Loogunofe:

Nettuno:I would give a rough estimate bearing in mind the rooms may be big in size. 5 drums for the rooms, 1 drum for the living room, 1 drum and 2 gallons for the second living room with dining, 1 drum for the passage,4 drums for the ceiling, 5 drums for the external including parapet, windowhood and pillars, 6 drums for the fence, pillars and cap. The quantity required may be less depending on the dimensions of the house and type of paint used. I'm not talking of brand here. Satin covers a bit more than matte and matte covers a bit more than premium emulsion and that also covers more than budget grade emulsion. 2 Likes |

One4me: If the client in question can do a soil test it will help to get other suggestions to be considered instead of what he is trying to do. It's even good that Abdulwatecx has come up to make a statement. I remember some years back a nairalander posted his soil test report here for a build in Port Harcourt (duplex of some sort). The recommendation on the report was a raft of 1200mm height. Abdulwatecx gave a recommendation based on the report also but the client/ home owner after various additions by professionals here and probably offline he and his site engineer settled for a 600mm height ground/grade beam for the foundation. I do not know how many can recall. He even did a post of his expenditure on the project on a coloured worksheet here with pix of the project. I wish I can remember his username on this platform. His user name is FADEO. The build started sometime in Nov 2018. Hope those who contributed can recall. |

KIDfurniture: This is what is frustrating to some of us and killing Nigeria as a whole. It seems that a lot of people in Nigeria have killed their conscience. How can you be asking someone more than double what is require for a project. A lot of our people are suffering because of this high level of dishonesty. Many of us in diaspora really wanted to help people back home but how can you do this with this level of dishonesty. Imagine you take $50k to 100k home equity loan to establish business with this type of person in Nigeria how are you ever going to be able to recover your investment talk less of making profit. We blame government for everything but this is not government this is an individual. 6 Likes |

Nettuno: This guy is worse than Evans the kidnapper. Based on my opinion, most of our artisans would do worse than the typical Nigerian politicians if they were in power. You may even find the most trusted among them wanting if you do a proper research. I feel bad each time i remember how they suffered me. Only a negligible % of them is honest 2 Likes |

Dijita:I gave a rough estimate of the worst case scenario seeing as there was no measurement given and gave allowance for the usage of budget grade grade emulsion. A fresh wall would require more paint than a painted or primed wall. There are lots of variables. I included for the ceiling, external with possibly parapet, windowhood and pillars with the fence on a full plot. Only a site inspection or accurate measurement could give you an accurate quantity required but even with all those variables considered, it's still around 22 drums for the whole internal and external painting. 5 Likes |

These people supplying roofing sheets at warehouse are really thieves. I went there 2 days ago to get their quotation, tried making payments but couldn’t due to failure by gtb app. ( I noticed one of the cashiers wrote her phone on the sheet of paper containing their bank information and quotations, she said I can call her in case of anything) So I went to the bank yesterday morning to make a transfer to their account, then myself and my mom went to their warehouse and made arrangements for the supply of the materials I paid for, which was to is to be supplied to my site this morning. After offloading from the vehicle that brought it, I immediately started counting the sheets 500sqm of Roman should give 1000 sheets, to my surprise I counted 878 on my first count, I recounted I got 886. Then I called the driver, he asked that I recount it, I started grouping 50 sheets each, then I got 17 groups and 48 sheets ( 17x 50 = 850, 850+ 48 = 898) so my final count was 898 sheets instead of 1000 sheets which is 449sqm supplied instead of 500sqm. So I called the driver who then passed the phone to the cashier, they asked that we call back because they were going to find out where the error came from. After 20 minutes we called and they confirmed that they supplied 450sqm instead of 500sqm, my mom asked why they made such a big error she ended the call immediately after blabbing for some seconds because she couldn’t make up a reason lol. Then I remembered this same cashier wrote her number down for a reason, she thought I was the roofer and my mom was my client, so they supplied the materials 50sqm short hoping my mom would come over to buy some extra materials to complete the project, then I’d call cashier later after the job so we can discuss how to share the 50sqm within ourselves, This is 3200 x 50 = 160,000 for Christ sake, we asked the cashier how they’re going to supply me the balance 50sqm, she said I’d have to come get it myself, I decided to hold on a bit till my roofers exhaust the sheets we have on site at the moment, so as to know if I’d have to buy a lil extra or not. These people are full of surprises Sorry for the long note, and excuse my typos and punctuation errors. 15 Likes |
