I was at a super market and 10kg of rice they told me N6500 just about 5 to 6 weeks ago. now they told me it's N8500.

I want to know how much is 50kg at the moment?

Thanks for contributing to farmers welfare. Your pocket will not empty. Do note it's December and Christmas is approaching. Expect us to charge you more than ₦8500 the closer you get to the 25th.

Merry Rice in advance.

things never come down in this country. once it goes up it keeps pushing higher and drives every other things upwards along side. every other thing will be adding price and nothing will be left behind. and the money they are trying to make end up becoming useless.

A vendor on Twitter placed that as her price for bags of rice she sells. I can't remember her handle but if you go and search 26k on Twitter, you'll find it.

I want to feel for you but I just can't find the heart for it.

In the 1980s an experienced nursing sister at a federal hospital earned less that ₦200 a month. Molue from Ketu to Yaba was 10kobo and a bag of fertiliser cost less than 50kobo while a 50kg bag of imported Thai parboiled rice sold for N32, and no, I have not mistakenly missed out the representation of zeros by k and mean thirty two naira exactly, so I am glad the prices always go up or no one will plant rice and you'd all have to eat crude oil!

There is however one price that seems not to go up fast enough and that's what you get paid for your labour as wages. Seems to me like we are cheap labour or pittantly compensated slaves who are not yet willing to fight for our emancipation. But I strongly believe that a time will come when the chains around our necks and legs get tighter and hurt like mad we will fight to abolish our own modern day slavery and demand a living wage.

Till then, Merry Christmas, especially to all the farmers.
