Thats true. Egbema is rich in oil so the Biafrans built make shift back room refineries all over Egbema from where they collected crude oil and refined it into petrol and diesel. Egbema supplied Biafra with all its petrol and diesel.

After the war, they took the oil producing part of Egbema and put it into Rivers state( Egbema Ndoni LGA) and left the non oil producing areas of Egbema in Imo state(Ohaji-Egbema LGA)

Firstly, Biafra seceded from Nigeria.. that is to say that they declared themselves a sovereign nation on the 30th day of May 1967
Now.. a sovereign nation is one that which is not subject to any ruler or nation.
So therefore, when Ojukwu declared Biafra, he clearly stated that he was no longer subject to Nigeria. Now being a free nation, he had to create an army to protect the new country from invaders and this he did... Also as a free nation it had complete ownership over it resources and Nigeria no longer had it... So now having declared itself a sovereign state, it is now a country of its own... So the civil was was between two sovereign Powers...
