Most PG students I knew back in the day had politics and any sort of activism at the far, far, far back of their minds.

As a matter of fact you will struggle to get admitted without industry or enterprise experience so who has time for this crap., and you donot expect career academics expanding their frontiers to jump into this sort of mud pit.
