Even they cannot avoid being sucked into Nigeria's terrible political black hole, saying, 'the trains bought during the GEJ era were still functional while those bought under this regime are faulty'...

They have tossed the bone to get us yakking while they escape into the night.

For this humongous, poverty inducing amount spent on a quest for industrial infrastructure I hope we will be getting more than a rail line but technology transfer as well.

No deal should be signed going forward without the clause enabling us to maintain them. The evil drama of the refineries come to mind. If we cannot maintain these trains by ourselves, we are in big, big, trouble.

Was the effect of climate considered when building the train for our clime?

Diesel locomotives work in winter. I sincerely don't think our weather is that extreme.
"Bad luck" indeed.

Ask them whether the full money was paid, or kickbacks have rendered the trains inoperative.
The truth is out there.

It has nothing to do with the Nigerian climate, made in China is still inferior.

It is wrong to invest billions of dollars in a product without the necessary resources and capability is to support the systems.

Don't we have local locomotive engineers that can investigate the problem instead of going back to China?

Nigeria should stop wasting resources on large projects like railway network and focus on investing in education and health care

If trains are breaking down, then people who have been avoiding Abuja-Kaduan expressway would have to start using the road for transportation.
Both great and small.

Not bad..........

It's obvious that the Chinese know that the Nigerians officials are ignorance and incompetence.

When asked why the trains (CDD5c2 2701 and CDD5c2 2702 models) were frequently breaking down only a few months after they were commissioned, the CRCC engineer said: “It’s hard to say, maybe bad luck because the trains were newly built and certified okay by our company in China before they were sent to Nigeria in January.”

“In my many years of experience in after-sales service, this situation is the first I’m seeing,” Mr. Zhiguang said.

Hmmm.... they should return the trains..... warranty not met. It's an insult for them to blame it on bad luck.... would they dare think of saying such to a non African buyer? [i]We may extend the warranty [i]..... insult followed by a slap in the face. And we are still playing nice with them.

never underestimate Chinese cunning nature,we know chinko products to lack durability because they keep playing us,sending substandard techs to us so the demand will keep flowing for business...Chinese techs are bold, wonderful and advanced,go to European nations and see unadulterated asian gadgets making waves, they exploit us because we lack the independent scientific capability to check for the chemistry standard of things we import...
ameachi paid for something, even if he did it corruptly the Chinese would still exploit him in that corrupt deal they made with him
Amaechi wasn't exploited rather he ordered low quality goods intentionally.

China machines don't last, they are deliberately built to break down so you can spend more for repairs and importing parts....

There is no such thing as bad luck just bad design.

Nigeria can easily afford new trains/coaches. Very easy to do that if you know how to negotiate with the Chinese and beat down the prices. The problem is with the over inflation of contracts and the fact that those who negotiate contracts of this Sophisticated nature are mostly folks not versed in the field.. Again, we should be buying the technology. It will be helpful in the long run. I was looking at the conñtract sum for both the Kano - Niger republic tracks and the mentioned sum for the east to north rail. The combined sum is almost the sum the Chinese paid the Germans for the bullet train technology. Just as the endless increases in the contractual sum for the second Niger bridge is chasing the total amount the Chinese used to biuld one of the longest bridges in the world!
corruption.that why I will love falz or seun kuti run for Lagos state governor.pdp and APC politicians are bastard

The Chinese are very eager to come to Africa because they find Africa a soft spot and would gobble any crap they throw at us. We don’t produce anything and we don’t know shit so they can afford to send us garbage at a cheap price and we would be very happy.

China as a country also have their issues for they are still a developing country doing wonders and not fully entered the realm of the so-called developed countries. They are still pirating and stealing technology from the the west.

We must see any stuff we get from China at this point as half good and partly garbage, they are still learning too.

They see Africa as an extension of China and have less regard for us.

That is what they are doing. Everywhere in Africa , the Chinese are flooding the market with cheap bad goods and some are also very dangerous. The situation is going to get worse in the years ahead because the Chinese would be well entrenched and Africa’s dependence would be irreversible.

You see , China coming to Africa is good but We Africans must wise up and be very smart and engage the Chinese shoulder to shoulder and insist on the best for Africa because they are not going anywhere and they need us as much as we need. We also have what they want.

We must do exactly what the Chinese did with the west to reach where they are today.

We should not just sign contracts and go to sleep. We must insist and work with them on technology transfer, we must understudy them and we must insist on our people being part of management and the work force else they would sign contracts and bring their own and Africa would gain nothing at the long run.

We should engage them and be smart and read the fine prints in everything, we should prioritize our needs and don’t take loans you can’t afford to service and make sure you are maximizing your benefits for any loan.

This is the last ride for Africa and we must hang on it and make sure we are maximizing our gains because they are shrewd and clever too.

The Chinese coming to Africa is good for us and I dare say, it’s one of the best things happening to Africa since eba and kpanla.

No other developed or western country is ready or prepared to offer us what the Chinese are doing , they are simply not in the position to do that. They don’t have the money like China and have simply run out of gas.

The Chinese on the other hand at this point have the money and are willing to invest, they are happy and ready to come to Africa where they find as soft and likely to have more control and leverage.

Fact is , the Chinese are coming to Africa but the question is , is Africa ready for them?

Are we ready for prime time because if we are not , we shall be colonized the second time !

The Chinese just sold us sub per trains knowing Nigerians are idiots.
Which bad luck?

So the company doesn't test and quality control their products?
Are there no train engineers or mechanics that can diagnose the fault point and send over replacements?

These people just know they can play on our intelligence and get away with it.
