Nikiballer: From the custodians of the Ogiso tradition, one of the oldest families in Igodomigodo/Benin, The Ogiamien Family, have declared: 1) Obas of Benin are tenants while Ogiamiens are Landlords as evidenced by Ekiopa treaty 2) Oduduwa had no link with Ogisos 3) The tittle Oba, was forced on Binis by Oranmiyan 4) That the Obas of Benin are historically from Ife. Who could have more facts than the Aborigenes who are descendants of the Ogisos, the Ogiamien? They also debunked the Ekalerdahan fabrication as an attempt to hide the origin of the Obas, and confirmed Ife as older than Benin. Pls read it up yourself. What is Oduduwa in Edo language? 3 Likes |

VirginFinder:look oranmiyan is from an Edo father the one yorubas call oduduwa who was an Edo prince exiled from the ogiso lineage his name was Ekalardehan , from his sojourn he changed his name to izoduwa found his way to ile if and became known as oduduwa there. a l between chiefs threatened the unity of the kingdom and a search party went looking for the exiled king to rule them, got to ile Ife , found the banished prince but he was too old to rule as a result gave them his son oranmiyan who followed them but still couldn't make an impact in ruling the kingdom as his arrival was met with stiff opposition by a chief ....... He (oranmiyan) got married in bini and gave birth to a dumb son , after a while oranmiyan got tired of the strife and troubles of the Edo people and called the land of Edo "ile ibinu" which means home of anger with reference to the difficulty in ruling the kingdom... in summary; languages in Nigeria amongst tribes inter connect/ relate .... |

OsamaB: Please I am sorry you are spreading false narrative on internet The places you mentioned were never under Benin empire at anytime in history And if you think otherwise, please can give references so that I can learn more There is a different between influence and being under an empire |
Re: Yoruba Words That Mean The Same In Edo by VirginFinder: 5:09pm On Dec 08, 2020 |
gregyboy: Nonsense! Ile Ibinu is a Yoruba statement. Even Itsekiris will shudder at your anus-inspired version of Benin history... Eweka was Oranmiyan from Ife's son. He was the first 'Oba of Benin'. Nobody can dispute that. I don't care how he reigned or what he did. Oranmiyan and his entourage from Ife created the Yoruba influence in Benin forever. 2 Likes |

gregyboy: Archeological evidence scatter your head there... What concerns you with Oyo and Ife We are talking Ife and Benin here. There was no Oba in Benin until Oranmiyan came over. Or where did the Binis get their Oba from What more evidence do you need |

VirginFinder: Then i have no choice than to punish with my assignment when any yoruba prove too stubborn I want you to bring me any archeological finds or written records from European which attested to benin-ife relationships from 15c to 1897 when the benin empire fell, if you can do that then my account will be putto shame |

Nikiballer: Yorubas were expelled from the middle east for being into paganism. So we brought those things with us. Edo/Benin was influenced by Oranmiyan and his entourage from Ife. Nothing was borrowed here. It is common to see Edos bear Yoruba names, do you see Yorubas bearing Edo names |

Etrusen: What is your point? Yoruba people are independent and were living in different kingdoms with Ife Kingdom as an ancestral home for everybody. But Oyo Empire because of its military might ( especially its Calvary army unit) wanted to bring everybody under one empire but some refused and fought Oyo back. But actually this topic was about similar words in Yoruba and Edo languages....why all the history? |

Let's stick to that... [/quote] nope oranmiyan father is ozoduwa an edo man , and we all know you paternal side determines your tribe but l would like to think of it as a a inter marriage of ozoduwa to a Yoruba woman.talking about the obaship dynasty it was oranmiyan son that established that when he went to Benin to rule on behalf of his father, his son was birthed to him by an Edo woman and born dumb. it was after his father left that he spoke and became the crowned prince.. |
